Dec 3, 2007Does anyone know how to turn off the album artwork in Front Row? I have some songs I listen to that have some rather disturbing album art that I would prefer not looking at while I listen to the music. Also can you change the settings in Front Row so that the picture doesn't flip back and forth from one side of the screen to another when listening to music? The movement on the screen catches the eye and makes me look at the screen everytime it changes.

May 11, 2009So for the past few weeks, the little green light has gone off at random times. It creeps me out, feels like I'm being watched. Anyway, I put a little piece of post it to cover up the camera so I won't be so paranoid. I already did an SMC reset and the problem still persists.

Aug 21, 2010When my mother plugs her 13" MBP into the wall, the charger light is green and very dim. The charger light will not turn red. I tried my charger and 2 other ones. same problem. Pressing the battery indicator button in the left side will not light up at all. We left the computer plugged in for a few hours, and it still doesn't power on. I reseated the battery connector, reset the SMC, reset the PRAM/NVRAM, and the computer still won't turn on. No lights (except the magsafe that is faintly green). I'm sure it the logic board that failed in her 4 month old $1200 computer, but if you have any suggestions, let me know. We are going to the Apple Store soon. If it is indeed the logic board, then people that says Dell computers are crap will have to think again. My mom's work computer (Latitude E6400) is a year old.

Aug 2, 2010It's been on for about 24 hours because I'm downloading a large file. (It's been completely on, no sleep.) I was using it a couple of minutes ago when I noticed the battery was low. I plugged it in without turning it off and went downstairs. When I came back, it appeared to be shut down. I tried pressing buttons on he keyboard/moving the mouse to see if it just went to sleep but there's no response. Even pressing the power button doesn't do anything.
when I close the lid, the sleep indicator is on. (IIRC, it's supposed to flash when it's sleeping but right now, the white light indicator is solid and only goes off when I open the lid.)
Mac Pro :: Red Light Visible Through The Front Mesh?
Nov 23, 2010Just kinda notice there's a red light visible through the front mesh, on opening the side door, the light seems to be coming from one of the four LED's on the lower memory riser. On closer inspection, the label says DIMM 2.
I've tried swapping, moved some ram about.. and the light still appears (on the same riser). Does this mean that riser has developed a fault?

Dec 14, 2009I shall describe the sequence of events as accurately as i can.
1) I havent used my mac pro for a couple of weeks
2) I switch it on 5 mins ago and it boots fine, I log in and launch safari from the dock.
3) Computer freezes, mouse doesn't move, complete unresponsive.
4) I push power button for a few seconds to force a shut down.
5) I power up.
6) boots fine, after surfing the web for a few mins, MP just reboots, no warning, screen just goes black and the fans and chime kick in.
7) doesn't get to log in screen, instead it reboots itself, fans and chimes kick in
8) doesn't like it, computer shuts down, front panel light blinking at 1/2 second intervals.

Nov 30, 2010Up until recently my PowerMac G5 has performed as it should for a computer its age. About two nights ago it shut itself down and I haven't been able to turn it on since. Power does cycle through the unit because all the fans will either cycle once or twice, or at the very least they will twitch. And now there's a tiny red LED on the motherboard and behind the power button that lights up whenever I try to power on the computer. I'm at a loss for where I need to go from here, though I feel rather certain that my computer has simply passed on. It's an original 2004 1.6 ghz single processor PowerMac G5, serial number unknown, since I can't turn it on.

Feb 17, 20102.2GHz 15 inch mid 2007 Macbook Pro. I seem to have some image burn in the top right corner of my LCD. It looks like a blurry Spotlight icon, the "PM" from my clock, and so on for about 2 inches. It's not that bad, I can only notice it when there is a bright solid colour in the top corner of my screen (when the menu bar isn't visible.) Anybody experienced this before?
My laptop is on a fair bit, but my screen saver is set to go on after 15 minutes. There have been a few times when I have run my laptop overnight without allowing it to go to the screensaver or sleep, and I've simply turned off the backlight until the following morning. Could this have been a cause? I wouldn't have expected it from a modern LCD which is generally treated very well.

Nov 20, 2010I own a 17" MacBook Pro i7. I have noticed a very buggy sound from the top left corner of my MBP. It sounds like the HDD rotating but when observed carefully, its a some mechanical sound from the logic board (left hand top corner). The sound is comparatively lesser when I switch to 330m gpu using gfxCardStatus. I want to know if this is an issue only with my machine or it a common problem found on the this series of MBP ? Should I contact Apple for a repair or its a normal behavior of Flash on OS X ?

MacBook Pro :: Loud Clicking Sound - Lid Corner Too Sharp
Nov 1, 2009When I click on the built-in mouse (whatever it's called), it's a lot louder/snappier sounding and feeling - makes more of a loud clicking sound - then my old Powerbook G4 did. Might I have got one that's a little out of whack or are they all that way? If it's normal, why so "clicky?" These days aren't they able to make things softer/quieter? I also noticed how sharp one of the corners is in the area where the latch (or lack of) is...that center area where you lift up the lid. I like that much better than the old one but does anyone else have the problem of a corner being too sharp?

Dec 19, 2009So, I believe my Macbook Pro 2.4Ghz, late 2008 model may have an overheating problem. I'm not sure what specific part it may be, but the computer gets INCREDIBLY hot on the top left corner of the keyboard.
Basically, everything above and to the left of the D key.
I first noticed the problem when I started dual booting recently so that I could play Modern Warfare 2. The game runs gorgeously, but after for a bit (sometimes its 30 minutes, sometimes its two hours) the game will just immediately quit out on me, with Vista popping up with a message that an error occurred.
So, as it froze on me again just now for the same aforementioned reason, I immediately booted back into my Mac partition to check temperatures, and it said my processor was at around 87 degrees Celsius, which, if quick Google searches are to be trusted, is MUCH too high.
On a somewhat related note, I find that my fan will start going to its maximum power for no reason whatsoever at times, like when I'm writing an essay or just checking my email (which I'm pretty sure are tasks that don't require much power.

I will get the 13", I was wondering about applecare, lets say I cracked my screen on the corner and I can see everything else fine, but not the corner, how would they fix it? Send me a new one, or change the screen? I guess, what I am trying to ask is, if I break it, but it is still usable; will they replace it or fix the broken part?

Apr 13, 2010Basically, I have noticed that sometimes if I put pressure (not really hard or anything just like if I lean my wrist on it when typing) on the bottom right corner of the macbook, it makes a clicking sound when I press it. It sounds to me like something is bending when I press down there. It doesn't always click consistently, and sometimes I have to press in different places to get it to click.
I only noticed it when I applied a gelaskin to the top and was rubbing it to get the bubbles out and noticed when I rubbed over that corner it would make a clicking sound. Its really weird and I don't want my macbook to die as I'm already on my second one this year! I have backed up the hard drive as I have been told that the hard drive is in that corner but I have no idea if thats the problem or not. It seems to be that something is loose but I don't know what or how!!
