Mac Pro :: Status Light Is Always On

Sep 11, 2014

I have a Mac Pro 3.1..Sometimes (most of the times, actually) the Mac Pro doesn't boot and just stops after the chime (just as it was powered off). But what I found strange is that the white status light is always on (not blinking, always on) from the moment I connect the power strip.

I've run multiple times the Apple Service Diagnostic tests (running then again at this moment) and there´s absolutely no error reported. I've changed memory, video card slot position, everything I could think off, but still haven't found a solution.

MacBook Pro :: Sleep Light Doesn't Blink When MBP Left To Sleep?

Oct 10, 2009

I set the MBP to sleep in 10 min through the Energy Saver pref with the option to sleep the hdds. When it's about to sleep the screen dims, then turns black, then the sleep light comes on but does not blink no matter how long I leave it. The blinking only happens when I close the lid or when I select the Sleep option under the Apple logo. Is that normal behavior?

MacBook :: Battery Won't Charge - Getting "Not Charging" In The Menu Bar Battery Status?

Jul 1, 2012

I have a Mac 10.6.8 running Snow Leopard. My battery won't charge: all I get is "Not Charging" in the menu bar battery status; the power adapter doesn't light up either. It's not a problem with the battery—when I put my battery in my friend's MacBook, it worked just fine. His battery, however, wouldn't charge either when it was in my computer. I have tried resetting the SMC several times, following the instructions exactly. I've reset the PRAM, run disk repair, and fixed disk permissions. I don't have the money to take it to a repairman—even if I did, I need my computer every day for work.

OS X :: MacBook Pro Battery Charge Status At 97 Percent

Dec 22, 2010

So when I bought this the guy said that Apple installed a new battery on it recently. I believe him because when I downloaded the iStat Pro widget it said only 2 or 3 cycles which is because I calibrated the battery. But I just finished charging and the light is green. But it says the charge is only at 97%. I don't see why it should be like this. Also when it's not plugged in the battery only lasts maybe 3 and half hours from just surfing on the internet. But I thought it was supposed to last like 6?(I'm thinking that since mine is an older model, that could be it.

MacBook Pro :: Current Battery Capacity Status Higher

Jun 28, 2010

Do take a look at my current battery capacity. How can my current battery capacity be higher than the Original battery capacity? Anyway if you want to know how I keep it at 99-100% battery capacity
1] Set brightness level to the lowest or most comfortable
2] Turn off Bluetooth/Airport when not in use
3] Try not to use the iSight camera too much
4] Try to do activities that will decrease your battery life only when it's plugged in
5] Put it to sleep instead of shutdown.
6] Keep it plugged in as much as possible, it's okay to use 20-30% of the battery when you're in the bus or in places that has no power adapters. In fact, it makes the MBP healthier.

MacBook Pro :: 17" Battery Status - After 10 Months Daily Usage

Sep 26, 2010

I think you guys will agree with me, that I have powercycled my battery too much, resulting in a serious loss of performance with my battery.

I have been unplugging my MBP each, and every night, and then using battery during th day until I got the low battery warning, then plugging it in until the evening, and so on.

Looking at the status below, 50+ powercycles in 10 months has reduced the life of my battery by half. Looks like I will invest in a new battery at some point, and follow Apples guidelines to the letter in future.

MacBook Air :: Battery Drains Extremely Fast In Sleep Mode / Battery Down To 16% From 29%

Jan 6, 2009

I get the whole part about that I set my laptop to go to sleep in 5 minutes, and if I close the lid it'll go to sleep, and the little light at the bottom starts to pulse, etc. But in sleep mode, my battery seems to drain extremely fast!

For my old Gateway M275 laptop while in sleep mode, it would probably lose about 5-7% of it's battery in a day's duration. With my MacBook Air, I just came back to it tonight after a day's worth of sleeping, and my battery was down to 16% from 29%. And to check, it was indeed sleeping!

MacBook Pro :: Retina Is Missing Battery Time Remaining Indicator

Jun 20, 2012

The battery indicator on the top menu bar on my other MBP's gives 3 selectable options for display: Icon Only, Percentage, and Time Remaining. My new MBP retina only has 'Icon' and 'Percentage'. You can still see time remaining by clicking on the battery icon manually.

Applecare said "they must have removed it for that new version of the MBP, you could always try reinstalling the O/S from scratch just to be sure".

Under Energy Saver the only option is to 'show battery status' on the top bar.

MacBook :: Sleep Light Always On?

I recently noticed something rather peculiar about my MacBook. When I put my computer to sleep, the sleep light never does what it used to. Well, since I installed the latest OS X update, I've noticed that my sleep light never gets dimmer. It just stays on full brightness all the time.

OS X :: Battery Capacity Status Keeps Changing

May 5, 2010

My battery was functioning perfectly up until today, the last time I looked at coconut battery it was around 95% capacity with like ~500 cycles. Then today it's struggled to hold 2 hours of charge, coconut battery now says 57% capacity. The strange this is, earlier today it seemed to have gone back to normal, I looked at CB and capacity was back up to 95%. I tried calibrating it and it's all over the shop.

About 2 minutes ago I received the 9 min low battery warning, now it's plugged in and says it only has to charge for 49mins to regain a full charge. I guess it sounds like it's dying, it's at 616 cycles which is fair enough. Lately (last 4/5 months) I've been keeping it plugged in most of the time though which I hadn't before and I'm thinking that's perhaps killed it faster. Anyway is there anything else I can do before replacing it? Or a more comprehensive way to evaluate its health?

OS X :: MacBook Pro Light Not Blinking On Sleep?

I have the older MacBook Pro with the sleep light on the front button that attaches the screen to the main computer. I noticed that the light no longer blinks when it is on sleep. I recently upgraded my internal HD and have no idea if that could have caused it or not. I guess, since my Mac is three years old, there is also the possibility that the light just got old and went out.

OS X :: Battery Working But Showing Wrong Status?

Oct 20, 2009

I've just replaced the hard drive in my macbook, and obviously that meant reinstalling Snow Leopard on my machine. Now I seem to be getting issues with my battery that I didn't before with SL, so I'm not entirely sure that's the root of the problem. Yesterday (day SL was installed) I noticed that my battery showed 0% and wouldn't charge, but I was still able to use my computer, and it was in fact on without being plugged in and absolutely fine for a good hour or so. Eventually the battery seemed to go back to normal, would charge, and showed a real percentage of battery life (i.e. 65%).

This morning I turn on my laptop, realise I'd had it plugged in all night, which I never do, and the light on the lead was still orange. Now my battery icon just shows a cross and says there are no batteries available, though again I'm working without my macbook being plugged in to the mains. Is this just a bug that will eventually be fixed? I seriously doubt it's my battery, that was replaced around April time and though I use my laptop a LOT not enough to screw it up that quickly.

MacBook Pro :: Won't Turn On - Flashing Sleep Light

however, lately its been shutting down when it runs out of battery instead of hibernating (which is really frustrating). and just now its doing the flashing thing again, cept for a much longer time.. any idea how to resolve this/what might be wrong with it?
