just got my brand new Retina MacBook pro and I LOVE IT. Only weired thing: the battery menu in the menu bar won't allow me to select the left runtime - it will only allow me to show the left percentage. This doesn't seem normal?

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe battery indicator on the top menu bar on my other MBP's gives 3 selectable options for display: Icon Only, Percentage, and Time Remaining. My new MBP retina only has 'Icon' and 'Percentage'. You can still see time remaining by clicking on the battery icon manually.
Applecare said "they must have removed it for that new version of the MBP, you could always try reinstalling the O/S from scratch just to be sure".
Under Energy Saver the only option is to 'show battery status' on the top bar.
My mid-2014 15" Macbook Pro randomly "loses" its retina display at the top menu (becomes pixel-y), where the battery, sound, and wifi logos are (on the top right side of the screen). A restart fixes the issue, but I want to know if this is an issue that can be fixed?

How do software that aren't retina compatible yet look on the MBP Retina Display? From my own experience as a developer when using regular sized images and resolutions on the iPhone 4, they come out as blurry. I was thinking perhaps the same thing will occur if the software isn't retina compatible? I e 2x in GUI size and scaled down?

My question is that why under System Profiler, it told me that the battery condition is normal? Where my other 13" MBP that my brother owns for about a month is showing Good.
i tried calibrating it, and it still shows Normal. Coconut battery says I have 100% battery health. But still, it's kinda annoying for me.
I bought a 3rd party battery for my MBP. I put it in and after cycling the battery i noticed that the full charge capacity was only 3990mAh (supposed to be 5500mAh). I returned the battery today and got and an upgraded replacement. this shows the full charge capacity at 4995mAh (supposed to be 5600mAh).
is this normal. Do I just need to give it some time or is it something with the batteries.
I had decided to get a retina MacBook Pro earlier, but I have grown tired of never finding them in the stores. Now I am wondering if the non retina would be the best way to go.

I've got an issue, becouse sometimes when I turn on my MB it shows on battery bar 0%, and when I look to the iStat Nano/coconut battery it shows that battery capacity is about 3%, sometimes I cannot turn on my MB, but it was fully charged a few minutes before, only if I connect AC Adapter and it starts also with this Service Battery. But after some restarts everything goes normal. Capacity is 100%, battery charge is same as before this issue (or a bit less, due those restarts etc...
Sorry for this chaotic explaination, but it's really annoying, I do not think that I should buy a new battery, becouse it has 166 cycles, so it is not so much to change battery (I don't think it's nothing, but of course it is not huge no. of cycles). I tried to restart SMC, calibrate - but it does nothing.
Why is my Mac not at 100% battery after having it powered off and plugged in charging all night? As long as my charger is plugged in shouldn't it be at 100%? I never unplug it. It shows it is charging but stays at a constant 98%.

I just created a new battery icon(s) for the menu bar, I think this is the reason for it not showing..
I replaced all the files with the new images, but I'm suspecting it's because they're not PDF files but PNG (the originals were PDF)

I still have the original files, but I really want these to work.

I have a 1.33Ghz 12" powerbook and recently it has started to just shut off when the battery is saying it has around a half hour left, instead of it warning me that the battery is low and it will go to sleep soon. and then it won't restart until I plug it in. is there any way for me to fix this besides getting a new battery? This battery is not covered under any recalls, and there is no applecare left on the computer. also if it matters the computer is running 10.4.10.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've just replaced the hard drive in my macbook, and obviously that meant reinstalling Snow Leopard on my machine. Now I seem to be getting issues with my battery that I didn't before with SL, so I'm not entirely sure that's the root of the problem. Yesterday (day SL was installed) I noticed that my battery showed 0% and wouldn't charge, but I was still able to use my computer, and it was in fact on without being plugged in and absolutely fine for a good hour or so. Eventually the battery seemed to go back to normal, would charge, and showed a real percentage of battery life (i.e. 65%).
This morning I turn on my laptop, realise I'd had it plugged in all night, which I never do, and the light on the lead was still orange. Now my battery icon just shows a cross and says there are no batteries available, though again I'm working without my macbook being plugged in to the mains. Is this just a bug that will eventually be fixed? I seriously doubt it's my battery, that was replaced around April time and though I use my laptop a LOT not enough to screw it up that quickly.

I have a 1.67 GHz Powerbook G4. This morning it was fine. When I got home from work, it decided that it suddenly no longer wants to stay on when not plugged in. The battery is showing a full charge. At first they seemed to redeem themselfs during runtime, but for a while now, they seem to pop up at boot. And I mean, even not getting the Apple logo and it already freezes. I seem to be having this problem only in a frequency of say... once in two months or so?
Today I got it again and it even occured two times in a row, third time the system booted up. I would like to know whats up, I figure this must be a hardware issue since the system doesn't even load up. I'm a bit worried about sending this machine for it's warranty, since I won't have a machine for like 3 weeks until it gets back...

I've been attempting to install an ftp browser and I keep getting an error message that says "You need to install a Java runtime, but you are not connected to the internet". However, I am connected to the internet! I've attempted to access the Java preferences, but I get the same error with a subtext that reads "to install a Java runtime, open Java preferences again." Again, I've attempted to reopen Java preferences only to find the same error message and subtext.

Is there a way to preview/display the runtime/duration of a video file in Finder? I noticed that if it is a .mov file, then you can choose to display the file's duration in Icon view if you edit "View Options," Column view and with the Command+I shortcut, but with a few other video file types I've looked at this data isn't available.
