I have a last gen macbook pro, how can I change a function key to play music from iTunes (like the new ones)? Preferable it would be f12 since I never use dashboard.
View 2 RepliesIt appears that the function keys to control iTunes/Quicktime (FF, Play/Pause, and RW) are not working. At one point they did but now it doesn't. All the other function keys are functioning just fine and dandy. I have the "Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys" unchecked in the preferences. I looked around and there doesn't seem to be any setting that would explain the sudden malfunctioning of the keys. Is there something I may have missed?
View 2 Replies View Related...now I don't have the same functionality with iTunes. Basically, I can't use iTunes at all anymore as the interface for my music and videos. Once the external drive is mounted, I can navigate through it and play individual songs, but I can't use iTunes to do that. All my previous Playlists show up down the left side of iTunes, but there isn't any music in them.
I downloaded 2 songs yesterday, made a Playlist out of them, and because the path in the Advanced tab of the iTunes Preferences is correct, it automatically added the songs to the external hard drive. I synced my iPod and it was completely erased except for the 2 new songs. Is there a way to use iTunes to navigate my music like I used to when I stored the information on the internal hard drive but keep the information on the external drive? I have a Mac running Snow Leopard and the latest version of iTunes.
I was wondering how could i play music in itunes from my external hard drive without it being saves in my itunes music folder?

Whenever I wanna play music on my iTunes, it stays at 0:00 ..... I've tried everything so far. I can't even go on youtube and hear the music. Yes, my volumes up, everything is plugged in, I went to system preferences and checked the sound, everythings fine. I re-installed iTunes, nothing happened... When I try to play some episodes that previously worked (I havent played them for a year or so) they fail to open in Quicktime X (with perian 1.2 installed)
When I open the files in VLC they play as an mp3 would and I can hear tracks from my library that I recognise...
PS: my music and video libraries are on different physical disks and the videos are not in iTunes.
The one i would use is an episode of Robot Chicken, but I have at least 100 episodes doing this thing, although not all of my collection.

I was listening to music one day and went to pause the music using the Play/Pause (F8) key. I pressed the key and nothing happened. View 1 Replies View RelatedI've run into an odd problem where iTunes (v8.0.2.20 Windows Vista) will not add, play or do anything with audio files (mp3) that it has previously played in the past (same version of iTunes). It played it one day, then the album disappeared and will not allow it to be added again, it does how ever work perfectly in Quicktime player, Winamp, WMP and other players. When I use Add Folder to Library, I get a quick "Processing files" dialogue, then it disappears (Same if I drag the folder into the library itself), and when I try to play the files individually, nothing happens at all. I've tried everything short of reencoding the files, which I want to save as a last resort (So as to not lose audio quality) and Ripping the CD again isn't an option since I no longer have the original after my car was broken into.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just updated to iTunes 11.2.2 on my macMini following an update to OS X 10.9.3. I have my music library stored on an external 1TB firewire disk and some on a second gen iPod. The iPod music is accessable and will play but the music on the external disk, while showing up correctly in iTunes, will not play. I can't even play the music from within finder (no play icon on the music file icon in finder.) I can use the right click menu option to show a music item in iTunes in Finder and it knows right where it is so it seems itunes is fully aware of the libraries location on the external drive. Â
One additional point is that I also install Xcode 6 Beta which would not install with iTunes opened. I was wondering if the beta of Xcode 6 is at issue? If is what will be needed to backout that instalation? What changes does Xcode 6 do that affects iTunes in the first place? Maybe it isn't Xcode 6 but something else just not sure.

Just recently the music control keys (the function keys 7-9) aren't working, all the other function keys work. The music control keys do not work even if I am in iTunes or if I set it to use function keys as standard function keys then try to fn use it. I just updated to Yosemite on Tuesday, I have turned my computer off twice since then and I restarted it today. I have a Macbook pro with retina.Â

So I was in my room in the dark for like two seconds, and i tried to switch the sound on the computer, but I couldn't really see anything.Then I decided to stop listening to music and just closed my computer. Next morning, no sound comes out of itunes. Even with earphones
(and I know it was a bad idea) but at full volume. Did I press a bad combo of keys that would mute itunes? (Youtube works) I can buy songs at the itunes store, and they'll look like they're playing, but no sound comes out.
