How do i safely import my itunes music liberary from my old windows computer to my new mac? Homesharing doesn't work for me. I do have my complete liberary on my old windows computer as well as on my Ipod.
Info:MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011)
When I try to play some episodes that previously worked (I havent played them for a year or so) they fail to open in Quicktime X (with perian 1.2 installed)
When I open the files in VLC they play as an mp3 would and I can hear tracks from my library that I recognise...
PS: my music and video libraries are on different physical disks and the videos are not in iTunes.
The one i would use is an episode of Robot Chicken, but I have at least 100 episodes doing this thing, although not all of my collection.
Is there any way to use this file to get my play counts, etc., on to my new mac cos as far as I know thats where that stuff is stored.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just updated to iTunes 11.2.2 on my macMini following an update to OS X 10.9.3. I have my music library stored on an external 1TB firewire disk and some on a second gen iPod. The iPod music is accessable and will play but the music on the external disk, while showing up correctly in iTunes, will not play. I can't even play the music from within finder (no play icon on the music file icon in finder.) I can use the right click menu option to show a music item in iTunes in Finder and it knows right where it is so it seems itunes is fully aware of the libraries location on the external drive.
One additional point is that I also install Xcode 6 Beta which would not install with iTunes opened. I was wondering if the beta of Xcode 6 is at issue? If is what will be needed to backout that instalation? What changes does Xcode 6 do that affects iTunes in the first place? Maybe it isn't Xcode 6 but something else just not sure.

I recently purchased an MP3 album from Amazon, which downloaded fine. Unlike previous times, however, the Amazon Downloader app didn't load the music into my iTunes library. I tried to manually add the album to my iTunes Library, with no luck. I was able to load the album into my iPhone Music app by dragging and dropping on my iPhone device in iTunes (after turning off iTunes Match).. If I double-click on the songs on my hard drive, they will play in iTunes, but do not import.
I am running Mac OS 10.7.3, iTunes 10.6.1 (7) and have iTunes Match active on my computer.

...now I don't have the same functionality with iTunes. Basically, I can't use iTunes at all anymore as the interface for my music and videos. Once the external drive is mounted, I can navigate through it and play individual songs, but I can't use iTunes to do that. All my previous Playlists show up down the left side of iTunes, but there isn't any music in them.
I downloaded 2 songs yesterday, made a Playlist out of them, and because the path in the Advanced tab of the iTunes Preferences is correct, it automatically added the songs to the external hard drive. I synced my iPod and it was completely erased except for the 2 new songs. Is there a way to use iTunes to navigate my music like I used to when I stored the information on the internal hard drive but keep the information on the external drive? I have a Mac running Snow Leopard and the latest version of iTunes.

I thought itunes automatically converts the wma files on my macbook to aac or a format that it can play. I have a lot of music on my macbook but these are all wma files so can't add them to itunes library.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOk, so I actually have multiple libraries (from itouch, nano, ipod) and I want to import the library from my old pc to work on my Mac.
However, I only want it to work from my external hard drive, I do not want it to take any space in my Mac's SSD .
The one thing that you have to know though is:
Although I have some, a lot of my mp3s are not in my itunes media folder. However, the music is in the library itself, the one in XML and ITL format.
So, I know that had all my music been in the media folder, I could have easily added library and selected that folder, but in this case, I don't think it will work.
How do I import my library with my music if the media folder does not have all my songs?
I had exported my library from my old laptop so I just have the library not my songs in mp3 format :/ if this makes sense..

Any type of audio track I attempt to import into 10.6.1 is not showing up. There's a similar thread here and it was determined that turning Match off then on fixes the issue, but I don't subscribe to Match so that doesn't work for me.
I've tried adding tracks to the main music library and to a playlist by dragging into iTunes, open with, double clicking on the track, and dragging the track onto the icon in the dock. Nothing. I've tried numerous different tracks, all of which play fine in Finder.

I have some old music that I bought under an old iTunes account and it asks me for my password to play the music. That account is no longer active, how do I list the music under my new account so I can play it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently updated iTunes to 9.2.1(4). Today I tried inserting a CD to import. iTunes accessed the database to retrieve the relevant song information but, once it did, I was no longer given the option to play or import the CD. During the access period, iTunes would briefly change to the artist/album/track, etc. information page for the CD but, once the access was finished, I could not access the CD, which didn't even show up on the side bar as it used to.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI use my Mini as a music server with all music stored on an external RAID. If I import a CD while iTunes is playing music, it will finish the song and then pause the playback. Is there a workaround so it can both import and play at the same time?

I just bought a MacBook Pro. I have my iTunes library on an external firewire HDD. I want to keep it there, but have iTunes on my new Mac access it. However, even though I have put the path to that drive in iTunes Preferences, the songs there don't show up in iTunes.
The new Mac is authorised, and I have bought a song on the iTunes store, which was saved to the external drive.
So what do I need to do? Do I get one of the library files copied over from the old machine (also a Mac)?
I added a laptop to our home network that'll primarily be used by my wife. Most of our iTunes content is on my system. I wanted to share the library across the network and give her the option of importing tracks off mine. This will let the whole family use either computer to sync their iPods.
I set up the Home Sharing option using verion 9.0.2 on both machines. I didn't use a password. I can see the other computer's libraries under 'Shared' on each system and access their files to play. But when I select the library, I don't get the 'Import' option that is listed in the Help menu instructions. Without being able to import the tracks, we have to go back to the main machine to sync.
I have just bought my first Mac and finding iTunes limiting. I am running a Windows XP desktop, laptop and OSX 10.5 MacPro laptop. I then have a Western Digital World Book 500GB NAS with a share holding all my music so that it is centralized. I have setup iTunes so that it's default library is the WD NAS Share "Music" and deselected the option to copy to local library. The Mac is my wife's computer so I will not be adding new music through its iTunes, but from my XP Desktop to the drive mapping "MUSIC" (simple cut and paste). My frustration is that I can manually import (using iTunes) the contents from "MUSIC".
But any new songs I add to the share "MUSIC" from outside of iTunes will not be recognized/added in the iTunes library without doing another manual import of the new file/folder. I have seen a post for sync'ing two iTunes libraries, which may or may not be possible to sync'd Mac iTunes with Windows iTunes through shares, but I really prefer not to go this route and currently using iTunes only on the Mac. Is there a script or plug-in for Leopard or iTunes that will monitor for changes on the ntwork share then add the new songs to iTunes's libary automatically? Maybe I am thinking to far outside of the box? By the way I do work in the IT field so I am willing to do some more "duct-taping" to make this work
Do anyone knows why this massage pops when I'm trying to import file to the library? "Attempting to copy to the disk "Data1" Failed. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."

How do I import music from a flash drive that was formatted with a windows PC to my MacBook - the drive is showing it has over 3GB of info on it but none of the files are showing up in finder?
