When I try to play some episodes that previously worked (I havent played them for a year or so) they fail to open in Quicktime X (with perian 1.2 installed)
When I open the files in VLC they play as an mp3 would and I can hear tracks from my library that I recognise...
PS: my music and video libraries are on different physical disks and the videos are not in iTunes.
The one i would use is an episode of Robot Chicken, but I have at least 100 episodes doing this thing, although not all of my collection.
I just updated to iTunes 11.2.2 on my macMini following an update to OS X 10.9.3. I have my music library stored on an external 1TB firewire disk and some on a second gen iPod. The iPod music is accessable and will play but the music on the external disk, while showing up correctly in iTunes, will not play. I can't even play the music from within finder (no play icon on the music file icon in finder.) I can use the right click menu option to show a music item in iTunes in Finder and it knows right where it is so it seems itunes is fully aware of the libraries location on the external drive. Â
One additional point is that I also install Xcode 6 Beta which would not install with iTunes opened. I was wondering if the beta of Xcode 6 is at issue? If is what will be needed to backout that instalation? What changes does Xcode 6 do that affects iTunes in the first place? Maybe it isn't Xcode 6 but something else just not sure.

I love AirPlay. I use it on my iPod Touch the moment I get home to play music to my speakers connected via AirPort Express. I use it on my iPad too when i'm watching a movie..
Even on my MBP when listening to music from iTunes. But Movies in iTunes don't work. The AirPlay icon in a movie playing in iTunes only shows "computer" and doesn't show any other options.
...now I don't have the same functionality with iTunes. Basically, I can't use iTunes at all anymore as the interface for my music and videos. Once the external drive is mounted, I can navigate through it and play individual songs, but I can't use iTunes to do that. All my previous Playlists show up down the left side of iTunes, but there isn't any music in them.
I downloaded 2 songs yesterday, made a Playlist out of them, and because the path in the Advanced tab of the iTunes Preferences is correct, it automatically added the songs to the external hard drive. I synced my iPod and it was completely erased except for the 2 new songs. Is there a way to use iTunes to navigate my music like I used to when I stored the information on the internal hard drive but keep the information on the external drive? I have a Mac running Snow Leopard and the latest version of iTunes.
I just purchased an Apple ATI Radeon 5770 Graphic Card Upgrade and installed on my Mac Pro (Early 2008) system with a 30" Cinema Display. I had no problems installing the card and there appears to be no problems with the graphics except I can no longer view any of the HD movies that I purchased from iTunes over the last few years. I receive an error that my monitor does not support HDCP. All of the ITunes HD movies and TV programs were viewed without problems with the nVidia 8800GT that came with the system was installed. Apple provided no notice that purchasing a graphic card upgrade would also need to replace my 30" Cinema Display to view the HD movies that I had purchased through iTunes. I had planned to purchase a new display later this year.Â

Some of my movies ordered over iTunes store can not be played while it recognises that it has been played part way through and offers resume. Ordered a new one and it plays but two movies won;t play...Message says the computer assciated with the movie needs to be authorised again. when I authorise it says it is already althorised. one of the movies plays on the iMac but not on the ATV. the other plays on neither.Â
I have spent the last hour attempting to add some movies to my ITunes library. These files are all in mp4 format.I have never had trouble before today, but whether I try to add them to the library through the menu, or drag and drop, nothing happens.I have the most recent ITunes software and am using a MacBook Pro with Lion.

I have some old music that I bought under an old iTunes account and it asks me for my password to play the music. That account is no longer active, how do I list the music under my new account so I can play it?
This seems to be an ongoing problem and you can see from my other posts that it is still not resolved: I have a restored previous Itunes library now appearing in my Itunes application, but when I click on any music within it, a box comes up saying: "The song can not be used because the original file could not be found, would you like to locate it?" When I click on this, it just takes me to the 'Music' file which is completley empty. I am scared to connect my Ipod in case I lose all that is on there as well and can not find the 'manually manage music' in preferences. I also have a brand new Ipad that I need to sync with ITUnes. I am also concerned about connecting my external hard drive for the same reason as I can not find anywhere in Time machine preferences that will turn off the automatic download once the external hard drive is connected. I am running Mac OSX 10.5.8 & Itunes 10?
I've setup an iTunes server on a machine running OS X 10.5.5 but for some reason some of the movies play across the network and some don't. Playing the content locally off that machine works fine but as soon as the network is involved some don't work. And the same is true from all my networked machines and it's the same movies that don't work. About 1/3 to 1/2 don't work.
What happens when I double click the movies that don't work is that the "loading" window comes up and then nothing happens. This doesn't make any sense to me...
Some of the movies in my library will not play. When they are opened the viewing screen shows black with the controller. I can move between chapters but the movie will not play.
I have a directory of H.264/M4V files on an external HDD that I use in iTunes.I do this - without copying the files themselves - by simply dragging and dropping the contents of the directory into iTunes Movies.
What I'm wondering however is - Can I get iTunes/Movies to AUTOMATICALLY update, when new items are added to this external folder on HDD/H.264? It hasn't been autoupdating thus far.Simply selecting ALL again HDD/H.264/(select all) and drag copying to iTunes/Movies DOES however add the new titles. Of course this has to be done every time I add something new.Â
iTunes freezes up when I select movies in my Library. I just downloaded a few new movies and now I cannot scroll to where they are without a freeze up. I have restarted numerous times, and have not opened any other programs while trying to access my list of movies.
I've never bought iTunes music/movies before so I never bothered to know this stuff. I only buy iPhone games, and as you know it's no problem to just re-download them after a erase-and-install or whatever. But with movies+music, you can't do this. I know they are riddled with DRM (the movies, anyway), so I'm wondering how I'd preserve them between reinstalls. I know I can burn a DVD or CD and do it that way. But to be environmentally friendly (and more hassle-free ) can I just, say, transfer the movies to a folder on my iDisk, then after the reinstall, transfer it back into iTunes? Will it retain all the information, play back fine, and everything despite the DRM?
Just wondering what were the steps to move my movies and music from PC to MAC. I have Itunes 9 on both systems.I have read the guide and threads and done some research but there seems to be different types of methods from just copying the folder to more complex. Alot of the instructions aren't for Itunes 9 specifically so I don't want to screw this up.
I have a macbook pro with OS 10.7 Lion, only 6 months old but cant acces movies or itunes on the store to buy. All other features on itunes store seem ok ie Apps, books, podcast etc i have tried updating s/w and all other first line suggestions in the manual with no success.
Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.4), I have apple care protection plan.
I want to add a category of Home Movies to go along with the movies and TV Shows categories on iTunes. Can this be done? I want it to show up on Apple TV as a option also.
I have a new 5 gen Ipod Nano that I have synced up movies and podcasts as well as music files.I tried to purchase the trivial pursuit game and itunes debited the $. The info says that it is compatible with the nano 5g but I cannot get it to show up. It does show on Itunes though [ v 9 ]. I have plenty of memory available. Any ideas?HP a 6660 t core 2 quad running Vista64 Ultimate. PC is on a Wireless connection. Browser is Sea Monkey ( I tried IE8 - no diff.)
When i transferred all my Music and Movies from my PC, i put them into the specified Music and Movie folders, but when i used itunes to open all of them, iTunes makes a copy of all of them and put then into it's own folder.
I have a lot of TV series that I have ripped into ipad compatible format. I want to be able to put them into a folder like a playlist for movies so I don't have to scroll forever to find them. If I need to use genre how do I tag the movies so they get sorted?
