I just purchased a macbook pro 2.53 Ghz 13.3 inch laptop. I got it today and so far I'm loving it except for the fact that compared to my rev A macbook air, the screen looks a bit washed out? Like the screen and brightness on my MBA is still better?
View 5 RepliesIm using a MBP 13'' 09 I believe (9400M). Every time I boot into OS X 10.6.5 and now 10.6.6 my screen is all washed out. I can see stuff but there are just way too much "whites. "(With an external and also with the internal).
An easy remedy for the external just requires me to unplug and replug the monitor back in and the calibration automatically fixes it's self on how it used to be.
I just got my 11.6 mba yesterday. I absolutely loved it but after one day use and compared to my 13.3 mbp and my 21 imac , I found that the screen is very washed out, especially the red color. Does anyone else have this problem with their screen.

I've had my MacBook for around two months now, and I've noticed this problem ever since I got it. The screen looks sort of washed out, similar to issue the iPod touch had when it first came out. Blacks don't appear black enough. It looks fine if you're looking up at the screen, but if you look down to it, dark colors are too light. I've tried the color calibration, and it has helped a little, but the problem still exists. Is there a way I can get rid of this? I've posted some pics below. They were taken with my iMac's camera, so they aren't that good.
View 8 Replies View RelatedBought a Whitebook in August '08 and have noticed lately that the bottom of the screen (around the dock) is brighter than the rest. This extends to the top of the dock (which I have set at pretty small) but can be quite noticeable.
Has anyone heard of this or know any fixes? The screen has been calibrated but this isn't something that I could fix by re-calibrating.
if anyone else is having problems with their unibody Macbook pro screen getting washed out after a while - especially if the computer has been put into and woken from sleep. I run a 24 inch dell monitor along side my MBP in dual monitor mode, the MBP the slave monitor, with the Dell the main monitor. After a while of use, approx 2 hours, the macbook pro screen fades out/appears washed out. It seems to settle after either a restart or dimming the MBP screen to black for a few minutes. My MBP is not on a cooling stand but I'm going to get one Is this a heat thing, a firmware thing or a defective hardware? I'm running 10.5.6 and have updated the firmware/efi as per apple updates.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought a new unibody Macbook pro in December and have had it linked to a Dell 2408WFP for 4 months now (dell monitor as primary monitor, macbook as slave via apple mini displayport to DVI adapter) and I am also using the dell USB ports to hook up my apple wired keyboard and logitech revolution MX mouse. Problems occurring ever since the beginning include: Occasionally the computer refuses to wake up either screen. It may flash blue and look like its going to come out of sleep (or monitor shut off) with no problems but then hangs. This is intermittent and I cant seem to trouble shoot what causes it. On top of that, more frequently, the Macbook screen looks washed out (loss of colour depth). It doesnt flash and there are no blank/white areas of screen, just very poor colour depth. This can occur even coming out of screen saver mode. It seems to correct itself with time or disconnecting the dell monitor. Main programs I always leave open are Firefox +/- Transmission. Seems to happen regardless of programs being open or not. Have updated everything that Software Update can find to update. Anyone else having these problems or have any ideas how to fix?

After installing Snow Leopard and using this profile again my screen seems a lot more washed out. Is this due to the gamma increase to 2.2? If so where can I change this in the color profile to match the original.

Mi have an IPad 2 that has a 9.5" screen. First off, are both measured corner of screen to corner of screen and does the MacBook have that black border surrounding the screen like the iPad 2 does? I'm tired of Windows, pc computers constantly slowing down every year (even though I have anti virus, anti spyware, and defrag my hard drive every few months). I can't afford a 15" MacBook,pro,like I'd like so I'm stuck with a 13". Is that too small? How would you compare it to an iPad screen? I'm happy using my iPad for Internet browsing,emails, and apps, but don't think I would like a screen this small for intensive projects like typing long papers or things of that nature. I initially got an iPad bevause I thought it be cheaper for college but I found I need certain programs that you can't get for the iPad in some of y classes. I hope the 13" screen isn't too small.

I'm getting my first Mac tomorrow, an iMac 24" 2.8. After 20 years on PCs, I'm fed up with Windows. I've been fairly methodical in going over the PC, inch by inch and file by file, to make sure everything I need is brought over and can be used on the iMac. One of the biggest problems is 15 years of documents which were prepared in WordPerfect. I understand that neither iWork or MS Office can convert them. I also heard of AbiWord, a freeware program which can view and convert almost anything. So, I have a few choices. Since I'm going through each doc to see if I even need it or want it, I can convert each one in WordPerfect after I make the decision, to an MS Doc file (MS WORD 2003, RTF, ANSI, ASCII, or other files. If I do that, will iWork be able to read the file? What would be the best format to convert it too?
Or, I can decide what to keep and bring it over in WordPerfect format. When and if I need it, I can use AbiWord to convert at that time. Of course, this means adding an application to my computer. Does iWork/Pages emulate MS Word in the ability to read and convert other formats? What is the native format for saving in iWork? Is it a .DOC file? Any suggestions for the best method for me to transfer the files to the new computer and eventually use them? Does any program Batch process the conversions? BTW: I already purchased iWork, because of my belief that its 100% compatible with MS Office, and because it appears that any type of document I want to produce can be accomplished in iWork.
I work on an emac and I really like the display for the sort of work I do which is hack work making leaflets and pamphlets that get digitally printed or offset. The colour is accurate and the screen is not tiring. Generally I've been a bit wary of lcd. But I'm seriously thinking of replacing my 1.42Ghz emac with a late model 17" powerbook with a 128mb 9700 card. I'm wondering how this screen will compare with the emac. I'm not up to speed on the various types of lcds. I know for example that the early imac displays will be inferior to studio monitors. I'm expecting that the lcd's used on the late model powerbooks to be top range as it was a pro machine. In the end I don't know if it would favorably compare with an emac crt. The second question is, is it OK to use a powerbook all day as a desk machine, I'd use a big wacom and separate keyboard obviously. Would this sort of use be too much for a laptop? Am I likely to run into problems with overheating or other damage?

I know there is allot of negative remarks, about the new imac's. gfx card, glossy screen, and now there is some negative posts about the 20'' models using a low quality "tn" type lcd screen. which is lower quality than what was used in the last imac model line. Does any body know what was used in the last line of imac g4's late 2004. will this screen be comparable or worse than my g4?
View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter reading the tech specs of the new MBA I found out that the 13 inch MBA model has a 1440x900 native resolution, while the 13" MBP has a native resolution of 1200x800 which is considerably lower compared to the MBA.After doing some calculations, I found out that the MBP has 113 PPI while the MBA has 132ppi. That's 20 more pixels for every inch!Hope they will update the MBP soon cause I wanna get my first Mac with the best possible resolution.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Macbook Pro that I have tried hooking up to our projector in our church using the Mini Display Port to HDMI adaptor but it is completely washed out to the point that it can't be used. It is only to this projector that I notice it. Using the exact same hook up to other projectors and TVs the picture is perfect. Also it is not the projector because a friend of mine hooked up their macbook pro the same way and the picture was fine. I've tried adjusting the colour and display profile settings and nothing seems to work.

However my new MacBookPro connected to the LCD projector displays washed out images, as if I designed my Keynote lecture using pastel colors. Also my black & white x-ray images are blue & white.

After upgrading to snow leopard I noticed a lot of my videos, downloaded from the Internet, bought of itunes, and burnt to a disk, now look very washed out, kind of fuzzy. I don't think it's my imagination.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI usually use my 2209WA connected to my Desktop running Windows 7, but sometimes I'll connect it to my MBP. Windows seems to have found a color profile that works very well, which it got from Windows Update, created by Dell, presumably.It might not be good enough for someone who needs 100% accurate color, but it's good enough for me.
I tried two different profiles for this monitor connected to my MBP. The first was one I downloaded from a forum somewhere, and the second was the one Windows is using, copied over. The display looks OK with both, but the color depth isn't nearly as good as it is on Windows. Connected to my MBP, the colors look washed out and flat, while the same colors are much richer when the monitor is connected to my PC. For example, pure blue (#0000FF) looks faded when the monitor is on my MBP, and much deeper when it is on my PC. I tried changing the gamma setting under OS X (manual calibration), but it didn't have much effect. It is set at 2.2 for both 2209 profiles and for my MBP LCD's profile.
How can I make my monitor properly calibrated when it is hooked up to my Mac?
In both cases I am connecting the monitor with DVI (just moving the cable since I'm too cheap to buy a switch), and both OSes have it set at native resolution. The settings on the monitor (color, brightness, contrast, etc) do not change when I switch computers.
How fast is it comared to the intel ones, what brand is it. Summurizing is it any good and how does it compare to the 500 GB/7200 rpm HDD?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo, some people at our office got issued 15" MBPs the last month or so, and I was one of the lucky ones to qualify. As background, I have been using a Rev A MBA for the last 20 months. I can tell you one thing. I hate lugging that MBP so much I actually leave it at the office most of the time. I remember when the MBA first came out people were saying 2.5 pounds extra would not make much difference so just go with the equally priced MBP, but no...it does make a big difference � not just mobility wise, but in over all convenience and ease of use. Now that i have all those ports I don't know what to do with them because I have already trimmed my dependence wired peripherals. I don't know what to do with the built in Optical Drive, too. Frankly, I don't know what to do with the thing, except leave it on my desk drawer at night.

how these two computers compare in terms of usage? My current iMac runs Photoshop CS5 tolerably fast and plays 1080p video just fine.
I have a 13" MBP. I just realised that when I use my macbook in the dark the keyboard light is brighter on the left side compared to the right side. When I look at my keyboard any key on the left side of the 5, T, G and B keys are brighter than those on the left. It is more evident when I have my moshi clearguard on.

Quicktime Player works fine under XP Pro on one PC and my other XP Pro computer has Quicktime Pro. MOV video is washed out running with Quicktime Pro but also Realplayer's playback is washed out. All other image files display fine.

I have had this problem since the time I got my iMac.
As for background, I am using a 24" Intel iMac.
I have the Realtek audio drivers updated, am using boot camp 3.1, and am using Windows XP SP 3.
I havent used my windows side in a while, but it is frustrating to not find a fix and see pretty much no response from Apple.
Have I missed a fix to this problem? Because it has been happening for years now.
What are the advantages of using VLC compared to Flip4Mac? Is one able to play more formats than the other?

View 23 Replies View RelatedI have attached my computer details below. Compared to the new probook my imac is quite slow. I do professional photography and I have two issues. One is probably ISP related. Uplloading a folder of high res. jpegs from the D7000 takes for ever. Am I right in presuming this to be an ISP problem? Is there a solution? The other issue is the slow response when using A3 - even a 100% zoom takes several second to focus.
Is this a processor speed issue? If so, can I increase the speed? Â
Fonts on screen are much smaller than printed versions. Can't hardly see onscreen & I'm sending resumes!!
