MacBook :: Changed Wireless Internet Password - Incorrect Password

Jan 24, 2009

In order to make my wireless internet network secure, I added a password to it today. Every other computer in the house, as well as my XBox 360, is able to connect to the internet using the password that I set up. For some reason, when I try to connect to my Macbook, it tells me that the password is wrong, yet it works with the other 3 computers in my house. What am I missing? Do I need to change my settings on Airport? My wireless router is obviously working so what do I need to do?

MacBook Pro :: Using My MBP To Control My IMac?

Oct 17, 2010

Now, obviously I can use VNC, and I do...but let me explain.

I'm back at university this year and I've brought my iMac with me as well as my MacBook Pro. I have my MBP on one side of my desk and the iMac next to it. What I'd like to be able to do is move my mouse (using my MBP) onto the iMac screen and control it and use my MBP keyboard to enter data into it. I've tried Screenrecycler which allows me to use the iMac as a secondary screen to my MBP but the lag just isn't good enough to work with on a daily basis. I want the iMac to be it's own machine doing it's own thing, just using the input of my MBP.

also...is this program safe to use? i tweaked the fan speed to 1900rpm (not sure what the default rpm is...)...this won't mess up my machine will it?

MacBook :: Did Smc Fan Control Mess Up Fan?

Apr 27, 2009

I noticed that my macbook was getting getting very hot every now and then, so I installed smcFanControl, and set it up, so that it would run at 1800 when it was on battery power, 2400 when it was plugged in, and 3500 for when i was making heavy use of it.Now, two days later, im hearing this weird sound when ever the fan reaches 1900rpm, and im really worried that i might have screwed up the fan. The macbook its only 2 months old, so the fan is practically new.

MacBook :: Fan Control - Why Always +100 RPM From Setting

May 23, 2009

The actual Base Speed that results is always 100 RPM higher than the Base Speed I set in Fan Control. Now, this isn't hard to workaround, but I'm wondering if anyone else is seeing such behavior.I like to keep the MB at around 1200 RPM when I am on battery power in the cafe. It saves a lot of power, and there is a negligible increase in temperature (on the order of 3-5 degrees F), and Fan Control has been great for that.

MacBook Pro :: How To Control Fans On G5

Dec 1, 2009

I have an older PowerPC G5 with dual 1.8 GHz. Recently I replaced the Power Supply and now the two fans on the back run at high speed all the time. There is no heat problem anywhere. In fact after an hour or two of running I opened the case and everything was cool to the touch. Not even warm! Is there a way I can get the fans to slow down?

MacBook Pro :: Using Lubbos Fan Control And Hot MBP?

Jul 31, 2010

New to the forum but had a good lurk before I bought my new MBP.

I have had it for around 10 days and it is an awesome bit of kit. I have it set up running bootcamp with Windows 7 32bit on the Bootcamp drive and Mac OS on the other partition.

I noticed that it has been running very warm - almost burn your hand on the back left hand side of the unit but only seems to get veruy hot in Winodws - under Mac OS the fans seem a little more active.

After a good search on the web I installed Lubbo's Fan Control.

I up'd the min fan speed from 2000 to 2500rpm but since installing the program my fans seem much more active. I have dropped the min rpm back down to 2000 but they still seem way more active.

MBP is currently running at 58c or 136f - does this seem hot?

MacBook Pro :: Fan Control Reports Only One Fan To Be Spinning

Sep 8, 2009

Right, so i got my 13" MBP yesterday and downloaded Fan Control, when i opened it, it showed me that only the left fan was spinning and that the right fan was spinning at -1RPM (i'm taking that as meaning that its not spinning rather that its spinning backwards). Upon seeing this, i ran the Apple Hardware Test that comes on the OS install disks, i ran the short test and nothing was found, so i ran the more in depth test. Seeing that it was going to take a while i went for a shower, as i came back upstair i was greeted by the smell of burning! I realised it was coming from my Macbook Pro and did a hard shut down to try to prevent any/anymore damage. (It was also very hot). I dont want a broken laptop the day after recieving it!
