I have the new 2012 Macbook Air 13''. I had heard there would be an infrared port so I can use my Mac remote control. I cannot confirm. Is this part of the 2012 Macbook Air?

I have a Macbook pro Late 2007 with a built-in iSight (of course) and Mac OS X 10.6. Some weeks ago my iSight started to be not recognized by software like Photo Booth of Skype. As I don't use it frequently I didn't search a solution but now I miss my webcam.
Photo Booth simply show a message like "webcam not connected". I think that the problem started when i uninstalled an app which emulate a webcam from a video file. But I can't remember the name of this app.
My volume control is gone from my computer.
I have no sound and even when I go into system preferences it is set on max and to show on desktop but it is in grey and unchangeable.
No sound comes out of any program and my itunes won't even play songs much less me being able to hear them. Isn't there some way for me to go back in time and have my computer reset everything as it was last week?
I have a Mac Pro 2xQuad 2.66Ghz and the cores are always really hot even when idle. When I chat and surf the Internet I only use ca. 3% of the cores however the temperatures are at ca. 80 C and higher when I do work.
So I decided to Install SMC Fancontrol, however there is a big problem I can download it fine, I unwrap the zip fine and I can open the application. However as soon as I type in my password nothing happens. Its really frustrating because I cannot do anything I cant even delete it as it apparently is still running.

I just upgraded from Tiger to Leopard. When I had the old Tiger software installed, I was able to zoom in and out on my screen by holding down the Control key while scrolling with my mouse.
But since I installed Leopard (not Snow Leopard, since I am using a G5 Tower PowerPC), this key combination no longer works.
This former screen zoom feature is important to me because I am a graphic designer with a neurological condition (tremors in my hands) that makes selecting fine points in graphic applications difficult unless I zoom in.
Note: using the normal graphics apps magnifying glass feature does not help me, because the select points still stay small, but using the old screen zoom method made the points larger and easier for me to select.
Does anyone know if the program SMC fan control will work when booted into XP via Bootcamp? I am running the game Crysis and I think my Video card may be running hot as after about three hours the game slows to around 15FPS.

I've been thinking of using an iMac as a video player in my workout room. I'd like it to be able to grab videos (tv shows) from my main iMac. I'd also use it to play dvd's.
I was thinking of buying a used G4 iMac to do this, but would like to be able to use a remote control to use Front Row.
First, can I use Front Row on iMac #2 to get videos from iMac #1?
Secondly, does the Apple Remote Controller work with a ppc G4 iMac?
I just got a Razer Imperator mouse and downloaded the version 1.0 drivers for it from Razer. The control panel has settings for sensitivity, acceleration, polling rate and the lighting (scroll wheel and logo), but none of them work.
I can change any setting I like, but when I close and reopen the control panel, they are reset to default. The mouse is working but the sensitivity/tracking speed isn't quite right, but nothing I do seems to affect it.
Also when I restart my computer, I'm told I have either no mouse plugged in or have a keyboard plugged in that is not recognised. Unplugging and re-plugged the mouse fixes that.
Is anyone else using this mouse? Does the control panel work for you, or do you use some other control panel/driver/extension?
Control-click has stopped working for me in Safari 5's content area.
It works fine when clicking on Safari's toolbars and it also works fine in every other app including Finder.
A complete reinstall of Safari 5 didn't solve the problem.
I tried deleting every preference file and cache file I could find but that didn't help. And fixing various permissions and other things in Onyx had no effect.
I was just wondering if this SSD [URL] will work with my late 2007 Macbook(3,1).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently spilled a small amount of water on my macbook pro and now the screen doesnt work. The computer starts up and makes sound so I took it into an apple store. They told me there was water damage and the logic board was broke so it would be 600 to fix it. I couldnt believe it. I plugged my computer into a tv threw the mini display port and everything works fine. My question is does the logic board really need replaced? Where can I get this fixed the cheapest or should I just sell it for parts? If so where and how much should I look to get?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was just adding some Quicklook plugins when my temps started to soar. I have restarted, repaired permissions, removed said plugins, and tried other accounts. Nothing is lowering the temps. Weird thing is is Activity Monitor is showing NOTHING using the processor nearly enough to jump my temps to 85 C with nothing running.
I'm "controlling" the issue for now by ramping my fans to full speed. Even with this I am hovering around 70 C...a good 10-15 C above what I am normally at (and was at 30 minutes ago).
*Note: Normally running fans at 6000rpm would give me temps in the mid to low 40 C range
I ordered a new Mac Pro 2.66 octo with a single video card (GT 120). I also ordered a mini for use a a HTPC in my living room.I have a TV in my bedroom too (where my Mac Pro is going to be placed). I was wondering if there's a way to "partition" the display of my Mac Pro so that when I'm at my desk, it functions as a regular computer, and also be able to use it for Front Row, Plex etc with an apple remote. I'll can attach an IR receiver to my Mac Pro. I'd like this to be setup so that the two modes do not interfere with each other and effectively function independently. Is such a setup possible with a second video card?I idea is the share my media between the mini and mac pro so that I have access to the Front row etc from both rooms.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI currently have one router (AEBS) distributing service to over 5 machines at times. Considering buying a new router, and was wondering if this will improve the speed of the internet (also going to upgrade to 50 MB service). I wouldn't have it connected to a computer though, rather kept in my bedroom plugged in. Is this possible or does a router have to be connected to a computer at all times to distribute wifi signal? I understand setting it up initially with a computer, but does it need at all times to work?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am about to acquire a dual 1ghz MDD powermac g4 and was thinking of turning it into my main work computer. I do graphic design and own licenses to both cs2 and cs3. I also have retail versions of tiger and leopard. My question is what combination would be reasonable with this machine and if its reasonable using hardware this old for print design. I am not pro or a demanding user, but I do a fair amount illustrator, photoshop, and indesign work.
File sizes almost always well under 100mb. Right now I am using a Macbook Pro and I am aware that its much faster than this Power Mac, but I really would appreciate something I can have multiple hds in. It has 1gb of ram, and a radeon 9600 video card. Its also the non firewire 800 version. (2002)
I have my home Macbook pro's itunes library on a server. The library is on the server and the MBP just references that for its itunes. Everything works fine with it. I have a spare 250GB portable HD that I wanted to clone the itunes library to and bring it to work. On my work computer I will just set up itunes to reference the portable HD. Will this work or will it cause any problems between the two computers. I know they wont sync automatically or anything like that. Im not worried about that. I can just update my work one every so often.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI found a time capsule (router/hd) hooked up in-between my modem and my computers. From what I read on the spec sheet of the time capsule is that whomever controls this device could actually see my computer from anywhere including my emails and hard drives. It is true? I do have a lower OS, 10.4.11, and I can't access the capsule via time machine, not to mention I don't have the password to see what's on it, but can this device actually be storing all my info/data on the capsules hard drive? Or would I need a higher level of OS for this to keep my info.
Does it store data from external HD that are hooked up to the computers that are hooked up to the time capsule?

View 2 Replies View Related visited an Apple store for this answer with cash in hand and left even more confused. The manager of the store said that CS5 changed the original Adobe protocol of allowing you to install the software on your home and portable computer. Another employee thought you still could install on the two machines as long as you weren't using the software on the two machines at the same time.
To make it more confusing, on Adobe's FAQ section:"Can I distribute a Creative Suite 5 edition across multiple users or computers? No. The product license agreement forCreative Suite 5 does not allow you to install the components of a single suite edition across multiple computers. Refer to the End-User License Agreement for more details."[URL]Then, when you click on the End-User License Agreement, it has this at the bottom: "HOME USE OF MACROMEDIA BRANDED PRODUCTSNotwithstanding the terms of the product license agreement included within a Macromedia branded product, when such a product is licensed through Adobes Open Options licensing program (not including Student Licensing,SiteLicensing, and Term Licensing), the primary user of the computer on which such software is lawfully installed may install a second copy of such software for his or her exclusive use on either a portable computer or a computer located at his or her home, provided that the software on the portable or home computer is not used at the same time as the software on the primary computer."[URL]Any current CS5 users know what the deal is? Do I need to pay even more money for the above-mentioned "open options program" just to be the sole user of the software on my home and laptop computers?
