Mar 7, 2012I have a pretty old Titanium Mac Book that runs OS 10.3.9. It's a moderately slow machine, but still works- and although I realize that it won't be able to stream video or anything, I figure it would work for email, and basic web browsing- But I'm wondering if it's going to be compatible with any new products such as a USB wifi antenna - because the room where I want to use it won't alow for an ethernet connection-  Also, will the old 10.3.9 OS allow me to connect wifi to the newer airport extreme base stations?Â

These are the WiFi antennas cables: They've been cut by the simply opening and closing the display, for more than three years. The cables are stuck in a bad place and suffer from excessive pressure and contortion. Of course my Apple care is finished... but all these wifi problems in the apple support forum make me think every first gen macbook is concerned [URL] This is a MacBook Core Duo 2.0 ghz (Early 2006).

Apr 15, 2012My old Mini is in the next room to the wireless DSL modem. It gets one to three max bars, usually two, and it's just through one interior wall. I don't want to spend a bunch of money, I just want to get a little better reception in the next room. I have seen USB wifi antennas advertised. Would that do anything for me? My iBook G4 in the same spot gets full reception no problem.

If I change from wifi location for example i go to work from home the following happens:Â the MBA will not fall a sleep resulting in a very hot MBA in my bag.the MBA will fall a sleep but it is not possible to wake it up againthe MBA will fall a sleep and is able to wake up again after opening the lid but now it will freeze the entire mac within 5-10 minutes.Â
I have to push the power button for a long time in either cases.Â
I just did a complete restore so i have no extra software installed.Â

Apr 6, 2012I've got a macbook pro which was working fine via wifi …. We had a power-cut last week and things have now gone rather mental. When trying to connect to the internet via wireless, it kept coming up with “Wi-Fi does not have an IP address and cannot connect to the Internet.”
So I ran a search on google on how to try and sort it. I followed the following instructions : Add a New Network Location & Renew DHCP LeaseLaunch “System Preferences” from the  Apple menuSelect the “Network” panelClick on the “Location” pull down menu and choose “Edit Locations…”Click on the + plus icon to add a new network location, give it a unique name, and click “Done”Back at the Network panel with the newly created location selected, click on “Advanced” in the bottom right cornerClick on the “TCP/IP” tabClick on “Renew DHCP Lease” and wait for the numbers on the left to repopulate, then click “OK”
I was absolutely thrilled as it worked!!! … and continues to work ... The only problem now is that my Macbook is the only one in the house that can connect to the internet wirelessly. When I try and connect my iPhone 4 it asks me for the Password then says “Unable to join network” and also my mums laptop refuses to join wifi …. She’s not happy with me as she now has to run it via ethernet. I tried to set up my iPhone manually, but with no joy as I'm not sure what I'm doing

One of them is slightly more powerful (closer) so our computers always choose that network by default.But this network doesn´t support wireless exchange of files or anything. Trying to set up an iPod Touch as a remote for iTunes on one computer.I does work if I manually set wi-fi to the right network. Not very family friendly. So back to my headline.

Power Mac G5 :: Can't Find Antenna
Oct 10, 2007I know this is nuts but I can't find the antenna in my G5. I just bought a wireless extreme card (up till now I was wired into the router and didn't need it)and the only antenna's I can find are the really small ones that I think are for bluetooth. I looked at the online manual and it tells me that it should be there (silver wire with a larger connector on the end) but **** if I can find it.

Sep 6, 2014I moved my iTunes media folder to an external hard drive to free up space on my iMac's hard drive. The new one is located on a hard drive attached to my Airport Express. Since then, I keep getting messages stating that certain items weren't copied to my iPhone because the originals couldn't be found. When I check, the iTunes media folder has reverted to the location on my iMac's main hard drive.Â
How can I prevent this? At best this is annoying, but it also is using up hard drive space unnecessarily. Is this behavior avoidable, or is it something that goes with the territory when you move your media folder to an external hard drive?

Sep 16, 2010I know i might recieve some criticism from people but whatever.. it'l help some people out.I got ripped off on craigslist buying a powermac g5 from some punk (literally... he lived in a warehouse with skate ramps and grafitti "art" )Got this powermac, shady south side chicago kid, wont return for an antennaIve tried everything to use the airport extreme without an antenna, never get any signal without the side off. Today i was using a safety pin (a large safety pin for a hoodie or jeans)unclipped it and jammed it in the Dr. bott slot/hole ....wherever the port is on the back of your g5 that your antenna should go.Somehow i realized that it took less than 5 minutes to load a facebook page, i then scanned for networks and damn, i saw my neighbors networks.

ITunes :: Changing Storage Location With Media In The New Storage Location?
Jun 30, 2012Equipment: Mac Mini (Early 2009), Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GHz, 4 GB RAM, Lion. I started noticing my Mac Mini was having trouble reconnecting my Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, slow processing (spinning pinwheel of death), and programs freezing. I did a recovery within Lion from the recovery drive and it seemed to work for a week or so. It started acting up again. So, I decided to erase the HD and reinstall Lion. I basically use the Mac Mini as a server for all my iTunes content. Â
My iTunes default save location is to my Drobo storage unit. Now that I have reinstalled Lion, I am looking for the easiest, most convenient, and safest way to change the default save location in iTunes and then importing the media. It would be nice if it was possible to just simply change the default save location to the folder I previously had all my media saved in and it would just magically appear in iTunes. Everything was organized perfectly, which took hours of time and attention to details. Â

MacBook Pro :: Wifi Reception Is Terrible / Constant Wifi Dropouts?
Apr 27, 2010My 2010 15" MBP has constant Wifi dropouts, sometimes minutes at a time. Sometimes I have to reconnect. Yet it gets 4 bars. My MacBook never had these problems. It's generally slower, too. It's now useless for online video like Hulu. Anyone else seeing this? I wonder whether it's hardware (e.g. they moved the antenna, and/or because of the metal case) or software/drivers? I'm going to submit feedback after input from ya'll.

Jan 10, 2011MacBook. 2Ghz Intel Core Duo. OS Snow Leopard 10.6.6. I'm running a 2006 MacBook with Snow Leopard. A few months back it started dropping wifi connection. Airport would show no connection but would list my network along with others in my building. If I tried to connect with my WPA password it would just time out. At this time I was running Leopard.
Since then I've done a few things.Tried running the Netgear router with no encryption at all (same thing happens). Will lose connection and then time out trying to connect
I've tried the MacBook in a coffee shop with wifi access and at my parents (same NetGear router) and at my new apartment with a horrible Orange Livebox.
Taken the MacBook in to see the genius bar at Glasgow Apple store. Worked fine for them, but I explained it was intermittent but we could not force it to fail. I'm sure if it ran for an hour it would.
At present if I have the MacBook in the living room (where the Livebox router is situated) its fine and wont drop connection. If I walk some 5m to my bedroom it will work for approximately half and hour and then lose it. A few days ago I bought the Snow Leopard upgrade and installed it last night. MacBook runs a hell of a lot faster (yay!) but moving it away from the router and its dead as disco in half an hour.
So to clarify, the MacBook has been tested on 4 wifi networks/ locus with same issue. iPhone, Xbox 360 and PS3 all have no issues with dropping connection no matter where they are in the apartment.
Apartment is a new build and its walls are not made out of lead or kryptonite. Is this a hardware issue rather than software? When updating to Snow Leopard it was an update to the existing OS of Leopard not a clean install.
AIRPORT says the following in System Profiler.

Applications :: How Can I Stop Moving Location Of Music Files On Macbook?
Dec 29, 2010I have a 46 gig itunes music folder that I had moved from my PC to a NAS several months ago. I set up itunes to have the music folder on the Macbook that I use day-to-day point to the songs on the NA. The songs link to the respective folder on /Volume/Music/Artist/Album/song The NAS has been having issues staying connected so I just moved all new songs (I had kept at least 44 gigs on the PC as a backup when I did this 6 months ago) from the NAS to the PC. I finally figured out a way to reliably connect to the PC (running Win7) from the Macbook via SMB. The songs are now located on Volume/iTunes Music/Artist/Album/Song My question is - how do I instruct itunes that the songs are now located on the PC rather than the NAS? Should I just 'delete' all files in iTunes and then add the PC's folder? Is there a better way??
