MacBook Pro :: MiniDisplay To HDMI + Audio (not Adapter)

Nov 18, 2010

I've been searching high and low and cannot find a MDP-to-HDMI cable (not adapter) that supports audio out for use with my MBP. Does such a cable exist, or do I absolutely need to use an adapter? Looking for the cleanest solution possible. Looks like I found a cable on eBay. They do exist from individual cable-makers, but it looks like they don't exist from cable manf's like Monoprice and Blue Jeans Cable.

MacBook Air :: No Audio Over MiniDisplay Port / HDMI?

Oct 21, 2010

Ever since the latest generation of MacBook/ Macbook Pro you can now send audio over the MiniDisplay Port output. The tech specs on Apples web site say no word about it. Any early adopters out that that can prove me wrong? 2 Cables (power, MiniDisplay Port to HDMI) is much better than 3 (power, headphone jack, DVI to HDMI in current Old MacBook Pro Setup). With the nice Graphics card the MacBook Air works great as a portable Media player, I just hope it has this feature.

MacBook Pro :: Audio Not Coming From TV / Moshi Mini DP To HDMI Adapter With Audio Support

Jan 13, 2011

I want to hook my Macbook Pro up to a Sony Bravia (not sure of the exact model). I went to the Apple Store, and was given these two items to hook it up. Moshi Mini DP to HDMI Adapter with Audio Support. Belkin High Speed HDMI Cable - 6 feet

We successfully hooked it up last night, and the video worked. I was told in the store that this setup would not transfer audio, so I already knew there would not be sound coming from the TV, rather from the Macbook instead. My Q is: What's the easiest way to get audio to come from the TV? I'd rather not buy external speakers to plug in, if I can help it.

IMac :: Where Can I Find A FEMALE MiniDisplay Port To FEMALE HDMI Adapter

Dec 30, 2009

Tell me if it makes sense. Since the current MiniDisplay Port adapters are NOT bidirectional and we need a bidirectional cable to make the PS3 display on the iMac, I was wondering if I purchased that new bidirectional cable by Belkin that it is advertised to let you use your iMac's screen with your MacBook Pro and then buy a female minidisplay port to female HDMI.

Would that work? It makes sense right?

Where can I find a FEMALE MiniDisplay Port to FEMALE HDMI adapter? I have searched and can't seem to find one.

MacBook Pro :: MDP Audio & Monoprice MDP To HDMI Adapter

I just tried using my Monoprice mini displayport to HDMI adapter with my 2010 MBP connected to my TV. Audio did not work.So I'm wondering if I'm missing a setup step on my MBP or if maybe the monoprice adapter is out of date (according to Apple only adapters with VESA 1.1 or higher are compatible w/ the 2010 MBPs audio out feature and I bought the adapter a year ago).

MacBook :: Minidisplay To DVI To HDMI Not Working

Sep 2, 2010

I have a new Macbook Pro, and currently have it connected to a 22" Insignia 1080p TV. The setup is a minidisplay to DVI adapter, and a DVI to HDMI cable plugged into the adapter and the TV. My trouble is that the TV is displaying a "No Signal" message now, after working perfectly fine this afternoon. Any hints or suggestions? I've tried rebooting, plugging in the cable before and after starting up the computer, and all HDMI ports on the TV. Again, I had the exact same setup this afternoon, and it worked beautifully, but now it refuses to.

MacBook Pro :: MiniDisplay To VGA Adapter YouTube HD Flicker

Jul 2, 2012

I've recently got the Apple MiniDisplay port to VGA adapter for my mid-2010 Macbook Pro (2.4GHz i5, 4GB RAM, nVidia GT330M with switching), and have it hooked up to a relatively old Samsung SyncMaster 2223NW widescreen LCD monitor. I'm running the laptop side by side with the monitor (not in clamshell). For the most part this works great, though I have noticed the CPU and the GPU Diode run at least 10 degrees warmer than they would when just using it as a laptop.

The problem comes in when watching HD (720p or 1080p) video on YouTube. During playback it seems to cause strange black lines/artifacts which flicker all over the screen. Standard Def video is fine, only happens with HD content. I don't know whether this is an indication that the GPU is overworked (though the temperature seems to be within normal limits) or something to do with the analogue VGA connection or the adapter itself.

MacBook Pro :: Connecting It Via Thunderbolt And HDMI Adapter To HDTV?

I'm trying to connect it via a Mini DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter to an HDTV with HDMI, but the MBP doesn't seem to acknowledge the addition of the new display. What it IS doing is flickering the built-in screen occasionally, the way it does when connecting to a projector or something, but it never shows any additional displays in the displays CP, and never seems to send any signal out to the HDTV.

Mac Mini :: Multiple Audio Outputs - HDMI & Audio Out?

Aug 4, 2010

With the new Mac Mini models, you can have audio out via HDMI or the line out. I am thinking to hook the mini up to an LCD TV/monitor via HDMI (sound on the monitor) and also to my other TV/sound system via the mini DP and audio out.

I assume when the mini turns on it'll activate both displays (if they are turned on), and from what I understand you can have two displays running. I'd only want one at a time so I'd have the other display switched off. But can the mini output audio to either both, or whichever system I am using? I've read a lot of posts but can't find a definite answer. I only want audio (and video for that matter, but can turn off other screen) to one TV at a time, but do I have to go into the OS audio settings each time I want to swap between the two?

I'm also thinking of using Plex and keeping it open at all times, just sleeping the mini when not in use. Can the mini only output to one source, requiring manual switching to the other (i.e. going from HDMI to audio out)?

MacBook :: HDMI Won't Send Audio?

Apr 22, 2009

I bought the MDP to HDMI connector about a week ago, and yesterday I received my Asus VH242H LCD. Everything is just perfect. The monitor snapped to 1920x1080 on hook up, I moved the menu bar and dock to the 24" display and it's just beautiful. The Asus has some built in speakers, nothing special, but perfectly fine for Youtube and iMovie creations... I'm using a standard audio cable, since HDMI won't send the audio yet, hopefully it will later. Just thought I'd let everyone know that is considering a Asus LCD, I was very impressed. No dead pixels, very little backlight bleed that I can see, and the colors are perfect, then again, I'm not a photographer/photoshop guy.

MacBook Pro :: MiniDisplayPort - HDMI With Audio

Apr 14, 2010

Can anyone please confirm that audio is transmitted over the MDP and comes out of an HDMI adapter to a TV or A/V receiver on the new MBPs? A bonus would be to know that 5.1 and/or TrueHD/DTS HD-MA (from a Blu-Ray MKV created using MakeMKV) makes it out of MDP to an A/V receiver via HDMI. It would be great to get confirmation of this on the 13" and the 15"/17" before I decide whether to order.
