MacBook Pro :: Best Mini Display Port HDMI Adapter?
May 23, 2012
I am looking for recommendations on a good Mini Display Port HDMI Adapter for my Macbook Pro 2011 Sandy Bridge. I have gone through about 4 adapters in the past year due to the adapters become unresponsive after 2 or 3 months. I use my Macbook heavily on external monitors for my work (averaging 7 hours or more a day between various monitors).
Info:
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.7), Preview no longer works.
today i bought the mini display port to HDMI Adapter at the Apple store. The video display is fine but there is no audio. I checked my preferences and there is no option for the TV's speakers. My macbook is from 2009 if this would make a difference.
Despite its description, I hooked it up to my receiver and it does NOT pass audio through. I've been hunting around and all I've found so far is one Youtube video of a guy with an adapter that worked (in the sound section of the system preferences, it shows another option for output that I didn't have), but not what adapter it was.
imac osx Tiger 10.4.11: I attached Mini-DVI to DVI cable to DVI-D to HDMI cable to Sony Brava HDMIl TV. To use TV as monitor. The only picture is my Desktp/screensaver MINUS the Dock. I tried applications ie. calendar, textEdit; iPhoto, but nothing appears on the TV. What else do I need to do ot use the TV as my computer screen?
I have a MacBookPro, model: A 1278 (Mid-2010 13"). Is its mini-display port capable of delivering both video and audio output to a HDMI adapter? or just video output only?
Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8), Model No: A1278 (Mid-2010 13")
I bought a MBA 13" last month and now I'm trying to connect an external monitor through a Mini Display Port-to-HDMI adapter and most of the times the display shows a message "No signal detected"...
I've tried all the possible combinations between the MAC and the Monitor but it would seem a random matter.
Info: MacBook Air (13-inch Mid 2012), Mavericks 10.9.4
I found on eBay a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter. Does this work with the MacBook Pro (Mid-2009 13" model)? If so, will my MBP support our 50" Toshiba DLP HDTV? (720p)
After discovering this new adapter and reading great feedback here on the forums, I picked this adapter from However, I am totally surprised that I have not seen one user feedback on how this adapter does not let your Mac go to sleep. I have tried this adapter on two macs at home, a Macbook Pro and an iMac, all latest models, running 10.6.2. Whenever I try putting it to sleep, the Mac wakes up after about 3 seconds.
I have a 2011 imac 21" and a new 42" LG led tv....I recently purchased a mini displayport to hdmi cable from cablesson and connected them up but I'm getting no response at all from either the tv or the imac.
if i buy the mini display port to dvi adapter, could i use it with a dvi to hdmi cable for my monitor. This is because the dvi and vga ports are already taken up.
How many of you would like to see a HDMI Port? Why the miniDisplay port? Why not remove ethernet jack and miniDisplay port and replace it with a HDMI port. That way one HDMI cable feeds digital video AND audio. Am I the only one thinking of this?
So i bought a mini display port to hdmi converter and im running an hdmi to RCA cable from to my tv. I dont really know how to set it up to put out the video. I went into displays and clicked detect displays and nothing showed up and theres nothing but a blue screen on my tv.
I just got in the mail the new MDP to HDMI and i plug it in to my macbook then to my 32" Samsung 720p TV and In mirrored mode it doesnt display the full Screen thats on my macbook it cuts off an edge all around so i cant see the menu bar up top barely see the dock i tried different resolutions and still doesnt help... Anyone have any Idea why this happens? And also whats a good audio Cable so i can output the audio from my macbook to my TV?
I just ordered a new 15" mbp, and a 24" Dell ultrasharp with display port. I am a bit confused about the cables I need. The Dell monitor arrived with some interesting looking cables that look like they might be displayport - but the mbp looks much smaller (mini). I have searched amazon and apple stores looking for the cable or adapter that I need, but I am not clear. I assume I can get the mini displayport to dvi or HDMI, but that seems silly when my monitor supports displayport ...
what would be the best choice from the Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter on a market?I use to try the famous like they saying Moshi adapter and after 3 month it wouldn't connect!
I have the MDP to HDMI and i want to get the audio from my macbook to come out of my Samsung 32" HDTV ive tried 3.5mm M/M didnt work and optical cable didnt work either am i doing something wrong? How would i get audio to output from my TV?
I have a new MacBook Pro 17" computer. I want to play a DVD through the computer to a Toshiba 26" flat screen TV, using a mini port to HDMI.
At first nothing happened, then after much fiddling I got the Apple Spiral Galaxy image on the TV and my usual desktop on the computer. I then discovered that I can move the cursor from my desktop across to the right, where it disappears from my computer screen and appears on the left side of the spiral galaxy on the TV. So it's like I have two side-by-side screens, the Apple galaxy on the left, my computer on the right. In addition, I keep my dock on the right side and it's barely visible on the right side of the galaxy screen.
Incidentally if I play the DVD I can drag and drop it to the right so it slides off of my computer and onto the galaxy. But I know that's not the real solution.
I have the cords connected but when i go into settings I see no option for video output i have selected "show mirroring options in the menu bar when available" but i see nothing at all...
I just got the mini display to hdmi cable for my macbook pro. So far it works with the tv. It displays everything but there is one probably safari doest work.
Airport shows that I am connected but safari doesnt connect.
Is there a difference in picture quality if I connect a MDP to HDMI instead of a MDP to DVI from my macbook pro to my tv?Will I be able to play movies at 1080p if I use the MDP to HDMI?
With my dad's MacBook pro I was able to hook it up to our HDTV using a DVI to VGA adapter, but we were never able to hook up the audio. Have any of you connected your laptops to an HDTV? If there were a video plus audio solution, that would be ideal, but I'm guessing that is not the case. So is there a cheap video adapter I can buy? My TV has HDMI, VGA, and various component inputs.
