How do I delete apps from iPad one? The icons jiggle but there are no x's or lines to click for delete. I read once about resetting to Original condition, which is fine BUT My Passcode ,inside setting Is unknown, locked. I have about 22 failed trials.   I am not talking about the password to log onto my iPad. Â

I just turned on 'location services' on my computer, and it suddenly shut down When I turned back on, it says "please enter your pass code" with 6 blocks. At the bottom of the page, it says "YO!".
I think I was the one who remotely locked my computer using iCloud, but now I forgot the pass code. What can I do now? Continue guessing the pass code, or is there another way? By the way, it is MY computer, I did not take it from opsomeone else.

In bootcamp I got all the way to the part where I have to enter in my windows activation code during the windows installation. I just realized however that the code I have is wrong, and I can only get it from the guy I bought the copy from tomorrow. My question is, can I just shut down my laptop and start from the partition with no problems once I have the code?

I use an external hard drive for Time Machine backups and to store some larger video files in a folder called Videos. The Videos folder on the external drive is now locked and I can't unlock it. I go to Get Info, hit the lock icon and enter my password, but the "Locked" checkbox is greyed out in the General section. In the Sharing and Permissions section, instead of displaying my name, it says "Fetching . . ." and I can't change the Privilege from "Write Only".Â

I can't seem to edit any pictures with Preview anymore since I upgraded to Lion. Every time I try to save an image after resizing or whatever, it says the file is locked. If I check the info of the file the "locked" checkmark is unchecked. And I have all the permissions to the file. Tried everything, switched the "lock after 2 weeks" thing of in Time Machine (even though tha would probably not help: images I took today are still "locked" in Preview), tried copying them and then saving them, and tried to lock them and then unlock them, but I can't seem to edit and save them.

Getting a message within photoshop that files cannot be saved as they are locked. I check the same files with 'Get Info' and the locked file box is unchecked. I have changed file permissions on the entire disc so that everyone can read/write but still the same message. Tried terminal command to uncheck flags also to no avail. I can do save as but a little frustrating. Is there a workaround to get all my files back onside?
This is a new disc that I may have installed without due care to permissions/ownership when I formatted it.

I am locked out of my Macbook. I inadvertently threw a very important file in the trash and shut down the computer. Now I can't get back in. Even when I use the master password it sends me to a dialogue box to create a new password but won't accept anything. If I have to reinstall my system that's ok but is there any way to retrieve my files, photos, etc..

The volume seems to be on lock and no sound comes out of the computer speakers. If I go to the volume sign at the top of the page the volume meter is white and stuck at the top. If I press F5 and F4 it moves neither up nor down and underneath the volume bar there is a circle with a line in it, which I presume is mute. I have gone into system pref -sound -out put and thats stuck too. Also there is a red light on in the headphone socket.

I was just using my 13" MBP and using Parallels when the whole computer locked up. I had to turn off the computer by holding down the on/off button. Unfortunately, now the computer will not start up in OS X. Interestingly, I had linked my Windows side of the computer so that it can be opened in Parallels or Bootcamp; I can get the Bootcamp Windows side to start up with no problems (I'm using it now to write this).

MBP 2006 2.0 with SL 10.6 started acting goofy over the weekend, so I C booted SL install disc and reinstalled. Machine now runs fine and all my stuff is still here, but I am no longer an Administrator and can't get it to boot from C drive or let me into Restart/SL, as I'm not an administrator. So I can't use the disc drive or change anything.
I'm the original/only owner and have never entered an Administrator password anywhere, just my login as a user. Is there a way to get it to allow the disc in so I can clear up the passwords?

I am trying to find a way to reset my DVD drive, as its now locked. Apparently its been changed 5 times, (not that i remember doing it) but that is what has happened. I read you can flash to a new firmware with a RPC-1 update. However am a bit confused as to which version to use.
Vendor: HL-DT-ST
Model: DVDRW GS21N
Firmware: SA15
RPC-2 (region locked)
state is PERMANENT
4 vendor resets left
0 region change left
Region 1
point me in the right direction to update to a RPC-1 firmware for this particular model DVD drive?

I was writing an email in Russian when I had to leave my computer - so I locked it. When i came back, I tried to log back in. A shocking surprise: Mac was using a Russian layout and I have found no way to switch back to English to type my username and password (which are in English). I tried:Â
- resetting the PRAM (booting while holding option+Command+R+P)
- booting in single user mode and adding an admin user with empty username/password
- booting in single user mode and messing around with /var/log/CDIS/.custom (turned out it was set to "English" anyway)Â
I booted in a normal mode and started trying all random key combinations in hopes to switch to English. I frustration, I typed my password in the password box -- while using the Russian layout -- and voila - I was logged in. What happened was: when I added another layout, I had no idea that I needed to check a box to "Show input method on login screen" in a menu that is completely different from "Languages and Input" menu (in the Accounts-> Login Options). So when computer got locked, it wanted me to use the language I used last to login without providing an option of switching. I argue this is not user-friendly.Â
When I did select that box to show languages at login, I discovered something else: the username box wants you to use the language you used last by default (i.e. Russian), but the password box wants you to use English (that's why I was abke to login at all). Also: when focus is on the password field (and the language box show an American flag), when I go to switch the language, it shows a list of three Russian layouts of which only one is enabled -- and no English at all!Â

Recently (in addition to other seemingly unrelated password problems), files on my desktop became locked. Finder asks for a password to delete them. I believe an Apple Genius said thought this was normal behavior, but we've never had that happen before on this computer (Mac intel core 2 duo v10.7.4) or anyother of our Apple computers, which are several years old.
So, is this suspicious activity, or is this a normal feature of the OS?

when trying to unlock the usual way (right click - get info - uncheck the locked box) it will not allow to uncheck, the check mark just keeps coming back. Â Troubleshooting already done:Â
- Tried a disk repair, this didn't work
- Logged in as Admin and tried deleting the file, this didn't work
- launching terminal and "sudo rm -f" -- this idea didn't work either
