I know theres 3 valid cd key but the other 2 are given to my baby sis to use. So is there anyway to "deactivate" the product key in my old macbook and activate it in my new macbook?

I frequently back up to an external drive and understand I will be able to connect that drive to my new computer and using the migration assistant, I will be able to transfer everything across. Do all files / settings get transferred across? Will MS Office be transferred or will I have to re-purchase it?

It opens the M.O. set-up assistant and I run through the steps and check for new updates, install the updates, and then it doesn't open the program. I try to click on the program again, and it runs me through the set-up assistant and updates everytime.

Nov 17, 2010When I set up my new mac it offered me the ability to transfer my files from one computer to another. Silly me, I was tired, and chose not to do it at that time.
How do I get back to that screen? And, is it difficult? I have slightly more ability than basic but am not a guru. And I admit to not having done this in years, I normally just copy things on cd rom, but if there is a simple way, this would be great.
I really only want my photographs to transfer. It is easy to do my files.
I could I know download my pics from me.com but I think it would take forever as they are at full resolution.

Mar 31, 2009I am trying to transfer files from my white Macbook to my new refurb 2.8 Imac. I am using firewire 6 pin to connect. Then using migration assistant, but transfer always freezes about 1/3 of the way. I've tried moving just my photos no apps but same thing happens. Only way to unfreeze is turn laptop off then I get improper device removal. Am I doing something wrong? Also wondering what is all this stuff in my document folder? 10,000 items, lots of pics, icons and html sheets. Any idea what all that is? Can it safely be deleted?

Currently, I have most of my info on my aging G5 iMac which is slowly starting to fall apart (i.e. optical drive/keyboard no longer work, making strange noises, etc.). I know that, once I put a new, larger HD in my macbook, I will have to format it and install Leopard. Is there a way to then transfer all of my info from the iMac to the new HD in the macbook after I put Leopard on it? I currently have a Time Machine'd backup external HD hooked up to my iMac.

Jul 7, 2010'scuse the ignorance - I was going to download the trial 'office' for MAC (before thining about purchasing) for home - only I've got the most painfully slow internet connection at home at the moment and it'll take years to download onto my iMAC. Can I download the trial MAC office onto my PC at work - and then stick on a memory stick or something and then take home to my iMAC? would this work? thanks! (and yes I know I need to do something about my internet connection but it costs bloody fortune to get a decent speed and I'm not in country long enough to get a long contract so I have to make do with crap speed while in Australia - at least at home).
