I just purchased a new iMac 21.5 inch desktop and I'd like to take the hard drive out of my old macbook pro and transfer my iPhoto and iTunes library to this new desktop. How would I do that and what would I need? The macbook pro model is a 2010 13.3 2.4 2x2gb 250gb part number MC374LL/A.
Info: Apple MacBook Pro "Core 2 Duo" 2.4 13" Mid-2010, Mac OS X (10.6.5)
The Mini Has Some Great Software On it, Could i Use Migration Assistant To Transfer The Programs To My iMac Without Losing My Data On My iMac? Or is There Any Other Way?
When I restart the g4/800mhz quicksilver while holding "t" it issues the sound of happiness and hums for a bit then clicks off. There is no regular error message on the imac but I did get "there is no osx disc on your old computer, etc". Is there any way to do this without having to be smart enough to put every file in the right place on the imac? These machines are supposed to be smarter than I am right? BTW every drive on the g4 has os 10.4 installed on it. I'm looking for that clean transition from one computer to the next. Also, is there some reason I wouldn't be able to install os 10.5 that came with the imac on a macbook/2.0?
I am a MS Windows (MCP) consultant based in California and unfortunately dont know much about Apple, Have worked with Linux and red hat to some stage and need some friendly expert advice as i have a customer who recently bought an Apple Mac notebook and asked me to transfer data ( e-mails , pics letters )from her (imac os10.4) to the new Apple Mac notebook.
typically, i am thinking transferring data via a wired network(Hub) would be the best way, based on the total data size , or alternatively an external HDD , Could someone provide me with some facts, tips, or perhaps a good guide line or a URL so I can achieve this with no embarrassment and a happy ending result for my client.
I'm about to order the 2.93ghz 24" imac with radeon 4850 and I was just wondering what the fastest/easiest way to transfer all the data i have from my current pc would be.

I need to buy a firewire cable so I can transfer photos and my itunes library from my older macbook to my new imac. I want to buy the cable from monoprice but I am confused by the number of options I have when searching.
I get results that have 4, 6, and 9 pin options. Do I need the 9 to 9 pin cable? 6 to 6 pin? Some other combination? My macbook is around 4 years old, pre-leopard, osx 10.4.x. The iMac is brand new.
I bypassed the option to transfer operational data (Libraries, Fonts, etc) when starting up my new iMac and would like to do so now. Drag and drop doesn't give permission to do this post-startup. How can I transfer this nitty-gritty stuff now?
I have an old Summer 2000 iMac DV SE running Tiger. Recently when I powered up the machine I saw the display flicker a bit then went dead. I also began to smell something burning from the rear ventilation ports. Now when I press the power button, it lights up for a brief moment then the burning smell returns.
I want to transfer the existing data on my HD to a new SSD. I don't have an external enclosure. What would be my best option? Also, any "must do's" when/after installing an Intel SSD G2?
I have a 13" MBP and just got a new 500gb HD to pop in replacing my 160gb one. I have about 200gb free on an NTFS external I was planning on using time machine to back up my system for seamless HD swap but as we know, macs don't play nice with NTFS. If possible, I would like to not have to re-install all my applications and such. I found other software (SuperDuper) that should do the same thing but none will play with my NTFS external. I guess my question is this: I have a SATA to USB adapter, can I: Plug in new HD via USB, Format to OSX Journaled, then do a time-machine backup to the new drive, pop in the new HD and be good to go?
my pc had packed up however i manged to remove the hard drive. I am able to access the data through usb and now wanted to know how to transfer mails to outlook on my mbp. I was unable to back up my mails prior to my pc packing up..
I have a MacBook Pro with Lion OSX and I'm trying to transfer some large directories to my work computer.I wrote it to a dmg on DVD but can't open it on my PC. What should I have done to transfer these files.
I'm going to buy a new internal HD (Scorpio Blue 500GB) for my Macbook Pro.
My question is how to take everything I have on my old HD and put it on my new HD.
From searching I've seen people talk about SuperDuper. Exactly how would I use it?
Also I've seen some mention using Time Machine. If I use that way, do I put in my new HD first, then install Leopard, then go to Time Machine and put everything back onto my new HD?
I want to make sure I know what I'm doing so when I get it, I know which method I will use.
I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me the best way(s) to selectively transfer data from my old MacBook to my new MacBook Pro. Detailed information on both computers is provided below. Old Computer (From)

I know this question is always being asked, but I'm still a little confused. I understand you can't sync your iPhone 4S to your new MacBook. Am I right? I bought my MacBook at Best Buy so is it possible for them to transfer my stuff?
