I just updated my late 2008 Macbook Pro to EFI Firmware v1.8, and am finding that suddenly my Firewire audio interface can't play a single thing without crackling, even in simple programs like Media Player, on my Boot Camp partition.
Using firmware version 1.7, everything was just fine. How does one roll back to an earlier firmware version? Does it have to be done by an Apple Tech?
I've had multiple kernel panics since I updated to 10.7.4. I visited the Genius Bar yesterday and follwed their advice to do a reinstall of Lion. It reinstalled 10.7.4 and I've continued to have kernel panics. From looking through discussions, it appears to be an unresolved issue with 10.7.4 and the concensus is to roll back to 10.7.3. Can someone walk me through the process of doing so?
I do back up to a Time Machine/Capsule, which I actually suspect as being part of the problem...it doesn't seem to be working well since I updated to 10.7.4. However, it reports a back up from yesterday which would be before the reinstall but would still be 10.7.4. The strange thing is that is reports "none" for oldest backup and appears to do nothing when I click on 'enter time machine'.

I'm going to install the 10.5.8 update as it looks like it will fix a couple of issues I would have had with 10.5.7 that prevented me installing it, which is why I'm still on 10.5.6. In case it doesn't work and I do experience the issues, I want to be able to rewind back to where I was, 10.5.6. Is it as simple as picking the TM backup prior to the install and clicking 'restore' - should that manage system files as well? I'll also do a CCC backup to an external disk.

What happened to the title bar roll-up/minimize feature in OS9? Right-clicking or double clicking the title bar in OS9 would result in the window rolling up, showing only the title bar. It's great for reducing screen clutter while still keeping the windows on the desktop (not hidden into the dock).
It's no longer in OS X 10.5. I loved that, so much that I even installed a MS Windows version of the same feature. Is there a program or hack to achieve this in Leopard?
It´s driving me bananas: Since Lion, Preview now reverts to continous roll every time I open a document. How can I set it to Single Page as default? Cannot find anything in the Preferences.

Can this easily be done or does it require a lot of programming knowledge to pull off? I really hope someone can help as this is a repetitive task that would save me a great deal of time.

i finally got my High Res Glossy MBP after 4 weeks of waiting...Everything works fine...and NO yellow tint issue...The only problem is 1 small dead pixel towards the bottom right of the screen...Will apple do an exchange on CTO machines with only 1 dead pixel? Is it even worth doing the exchange? After reading these forums i see that a lot of other users have been complaining about all types of problems...Yellow tint, wifi problems, over heating...etcshould I consider myself lucky? And just be happy that its only 1 small pixel?

On realising my mistake I tried to drag it back out of Trash, as you would normally but after "preparing to copy" for four hours it told me the drive was full...It's a 500gb drive, and the Time Machine back up is the only thing on it, so presumably it's just trying to copy itself when the back up is still present on the drive, albeit in the Trash.

On this particular file there was no "put back" but when i do on another folder/ file there is. WTF?

View 5 Replies View RelatedThere are a gazillion Time Capsule threads and my question is probably answered in one of them. But I've been skimming them and can't find it. Also couldn't find it in the Apple support docs. So...Does anybody know how far back TC backups go? Does it just hold on to the latest backup or can you go back awhile to recover your files? For example, if a file was corrupted six months ago, will I be able to retrieve the prior uncorrupted version of it - or just the latest TC backup version of it (which would of course also be corrupted)?

View 17 Replies View RelatedSo Ive got the new aluminum MBP and got an incase shell for it. For the first few months I would open my screen and at about 90 degrees it would feel like it was about at the stopping point so I left it there, like the older ones.
I recently let a friend use it and not being familiar with the product he forced it a bit further before I could leap across the room and stop him, I heard a bit of a creak and it ended up going all the way back, as far as it would without a case. Everything seems to be in place but it really did sound like something broke, and I couldnt do this before without force. Is this normal?
My 4/5 month old MBP has twice now "gone dead" and then just "come back to life". I'll just be browsing, nothing flash heavy and nothing else too taxing on the processor (email, itunes open but not playing, maybe text edit) and for no reason obvious to me the screen goes dead/black along with the back light on the keyboard dying. Then 2secs later the whole thing starts up again right were it left off, not a system restart like you might get if the battery dies, but the same way it would if you had physically pulled up the screen while it's been asleep.
