I'm trying to record sound into I movie using an Mbox. I have it selectied in Sys prefs audio, yet the audio on the i-movie is clearly coming from the built in mic. I also have Mbox selected in the I movie mic tab.

I'm not too sure about the correct terminology but I'd like to record what's being done on my screen with iMovie using CamTwist. Reason being that I want to record myself drawing something from start to finish.
Yes, I did launch CamTwist before iMovie, but it doesn't show up in the camera drop down.
Does anyone what to do? - or even a different application that can get the job done for me.
Lastly. I know there's a sound control option on PCs that allow you to transmit what sound is being played on your computer; for example: playing a song on your computer for someone to hear on Ventrilo.
Every time I open imovie it works well enough, until i try and record my voice. It automaticaly shuts down imovie, and really frustrates my teacher and I. It's imovie 4.

View 7 Replies View RelatedToday at office we were playing with a little remote helicopter, it was hilarious, in the meanwhile we where browsing on safari, but suddenly Safari stop responding, but hey NO BEACH BALL, and then we started hearing some sound, we thought it was from some flash video on some web page, but then we heard our voices, we were like WTF, and then we heard the helicopter, we were amazed, haha, now safari has new built-in func, "Safari 5 records sounds without telling you", of course we just force quit safari, but wait, it didn't quit, we went to terminal and kill the process..

Tonight I recorded one again and now there is no sound when I played it back. I know I've fiddled with things in system preferences so maybe I set something that has now affected the sound in iMovie
I've checked all the obvious volume controls, they're all up and on.
I saw an imbox.mbox and sent messages.mbox on my old computer, emailed it to my new one, and tried to import it. However it said that they were not valid mbox files. So I went into target disk mode to look for other mail files, and couldn't find any.

I tried messing around with it but didn't get too far. Does anyone know the best way to help set the audio right? Is there a feature I'm not seeing, or will I have to export the sound from the whole movie and add it back in as an audio track to the movie?

to tell you the situation,
i made a video and it has a talking Gecko in it and I'm being told that it's copyright of Geico, even though that's because a company can't copyright an animal. But, anyway. Now where I said "Gecko" i need to say "Lizard" instead.
I have to do this video project and I used Photobooth with the Macbook iSight to record it and I edited it with iMovie, but right as I was about to finish editing the last scenes, iMovie stopped playing sound. If I slowly scroll or hover over the video frames it will play the audio, but not then the video is being played. and the audio wave button is on, but the green audio bars won't even display while the video is playing, but will when I'm hovering over video layers.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHi guys im trying to censor out profanity in my iMovie project, so far i put the little beep sound at the part where i want to block but as it plays it plays the beep AND the curs word so you can hear it, how can i make it so that ONLY the beep can be herd and not the curs word, like mute that part of the clip.. Someone help? i can't seem to find a way.

have been making movies with imovie for the past few years. Today I imported from my camera, could see the clips moving in imovie when being transported, but when I tried to edit the clips, all I could get was a screen frozen with a picture, no movement, but could hear the sound. Then when I tried to open an already saved imovie (that had already been burned to iDVD successfully), the same thing happened.
Can someone please help. I am trying to convert my pst files to work on a mac os x version 10.5.8. using thunderbird. I used thunderbird on windows vista to import my pst files to thunderbird. Then I saved the mail directory and transfered to my mac. I dont know what to do now. I heard you must rename some file to mbox.

-Used Data Rescue II to recover them.
-Data Rescue II gave me a bunch of .mbox files (1.88 gigs)
-When I import the mbox files into Mail - Mail crashes, and what does end up getting into Mail is illegible - encrypted or something.
-I tried importing fewer at a time but Mail still crashes.
I recently updated my os on my iMac and now my mbox doesn't send audio even though i get a signal. why could this be?

I use a MacBook which is installed with Leopard and is running the latest version. After an email crash, I had to export a number of my folders to my desktop. Now that the problem has been resolved and I want to import those mbox folders back into my iMail (which is running my Gmail accounts) I am not able.
I use the File-Import function and follow the steps. It looks like it is working but after the import the files and the folder are not there.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded Outlook to Mac Mail software to convert all my emails into .mbox format. However when I try to import them, Apple Mail detects my Sent Items and Outbox, but not my Inbox. When I try to import Inbox alone from a folder, it shows 'no valid mbox files', but my Entourage is able to import all my .mbox folders. On a side note, the .mbox files actually shows as a Microsoft Entourage folder with the Entourage file type icon there. Is this why Apple Mail cannot import it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI moved mail from an exchange server to my computer to get around using to much space at work. I then dragged that folder to my desktop which created a .mbox file. When I try to move the .mbox file from my desktop to an external hard drive it wont move. a grey circle with an exclamation point appears. I tried doing it with Entourage close as well and got the same issue. Does anyone know the proper way for me to move the .mbox file from the desktop to the external hard drive?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have been sending duplicate emails inadvertently recently. It seems it's when I use mBox for mac (registered copy) in Mail to use my Hotmail with IMAP. I hadn't noticed it at first, but now I see every time I send a mail I get 2 copies in my sent box. I can turn off the store sent messages on server option to fix it (but that's the whole point of having IMAP!). Or I can turn off mBox for mac and it also seems to work (but then I can't use IMAP!).
I've also tried on the same machine from gmail, and iCloud accounts (MobileMe), and I had no issue at all. I've also tried 2 different Hotmail accounts, and both of them send double messages every time I send. I think anyone still using a hotmail account will eventually install something like mBox for mac if they've gone Mac recently - as I have. I checked the mail headers of the 2 mails, and they are quite different (masked where appropriate) -

After this I tried to import my old backedup emails from the dmg that was created from my erasure and Mail cannot see them. It tells me there are no valid mbox files. I've tried selecting every folder all the way out to the full Mail folder and no luck.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have several local .mbox files created with the Apple Mail client from 10.6.8 saved "on my Mac" after doing a clean install of Yosemite I am having trouble getting them to import. One is ~5GB the other is ~2.5 GB. a smaller one (66MB) with 300 items fails to fully import (gets only ~170 items).Â
Is there a better way to force the new mail client to read these or is there another mail program that can read these? These are important emails.
