[URL] I did connect everything my macbook pro very well to the TV using HDMI cable from the laptop to HDMI/DVI port in the TV. Also I connected the Audio cable from my Headphone port in my laptop to PC/DVI Audio IN in the TV. Yes I got the pic and everything is good but no sound at all. I tried everything and i searched the net but no luck or answer at all.
I was wondering how what cable/s I need to connect my mbp mid 2009 to the tv. I want to connect it via HDMI, I can't find any cable in the apple store for mini dvi to HDMI, is that even possible? What cables do I need to connect the mbp to the tv with HDMI?
i just bought a DVI to HDMI cable, to plug my macbook pro to my big samsung tv. I successfully connected them to eachother, but there was only 1 problem which ruins the whole experience. There are weird fuzzy colours all around the screen and is almost impossible to see anything.
Here you can see the DVI cable plugged in the MBP:
And on the tv screen everything looks messed up:
this is a brand new cable so i don't think it would be the problem, im only afraid maybe my DVI input would be broken.
Is it possible to connect my 360 to the mac via hdmi display port? I have hdmi to display port already and I have a new macbook pro so it does support audio, Basically I want to play with the screen,. Does mac support input through the display port?
I'm running a Macbook Pro 4 (Year '09-'10) w/ a Intel Core 2 Duo, Speed 2.4 GHz. I've a Samsung 720 HD TV and am wondering if there is a way to play video directly from my Macbook Pro to my TV's HDMI port? Is there a USB to HDMI?
I have a new MacBook Pro 17" computer. I want to play a DVD through the computer to a Toshiba 26" flat screen TV, using a mini port to HDMI.
At first nothing happened, then after much fiddling I got the Apple Spiral Galaxy image on the TV and my usual desktop on the computer. I then discovered that I can move the cursor from my desktop across to the right, where it disappears from my computer screen and appears on the left side of the spiral galaxy on the TV. So it's like I have two side-by-side screens, the Apple galaxy on the left, my computer on the right. In addition, I keep my dock on the right side and it's barely visible on the right side of the galaxy screen.
Incidentally if I play the DVD I can drag and drop it to the right so it slides off of my computer and onto the galaxy. But I know that's not the real solution.
I've got a recent MBP with Thunderbolt. I'm trying to connect it via a Mini DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter to an HDTV with HDMI, but the MBP doesn't seem to acknowledge the addition of the new display. What it IS doing is flickering the built-in screen occasionally, the way it does when connecting to a projector or something, but it never shows any additional displays in the displays CP, and never seems to send any signal out to the HDTV.
Mac: MBP 2.3 GHz i7 with OS 10.7.4 Adapter: Belkin Mini DisplayPort to HDMI TV: Sony 32" Bravia
I'm using 2014 MBP 13" with last version of Yosemite. I had connected my old VGA monitor via thunderbolt and new one via HDMI. As soon as I connect the second one SystemUIServer process eats all memory like 70gb and use %100+ CPU which makes my computer unusable. I've tried to kill but it reproduce itself instantly. I can successfully connect 1(doesn't matter vga or hdmi) extra display but issue is connecting both of them at the same time.
I have a Macbook and a new HGTV...I want to watch movies etc. from my mac onto my TV. I got a mini DVI-DVI and a DVI-HDMI cords...they plug in fine, but nothing happens....is there a setting i'm supposed to change...or what is the problem?....
I've just purchased a Mini Display Port to HDMI Adaptor, The picture is great, quality is super, however I can only here sound through my Macbook pro. I know my MBP supports sound through HDMI, I've checked System Information and under Audio built in, there is HDMI Display port output. I don't know how to tell MBP to play sound through HDMI.

Just got the new macbook connected to a newish Sharp Aquos HD tv. Done this with hdmi to dvi cable and adaptor all supplied by apple. I have a vizio hdtv and I have hooked up the video with a hdmi cable adapted to the mini display port and that is working fine but I cannot send sound through it or idk how to. So i bought a optical toslink to mini toslink cable to send audio form the laptop to the tv but the audio still doesn't work. The laptop says that it automatically recognizes it as a digital output.
Total newbie here bought a new 17" i7 macbook and I bought an minidisplay to HDMI adapter and when I connect I can see a picture but no sound, i tried going into the system preferences and seeing if there was an hdmi output but I cannot see anything.
I have a Sasmung LCD HDTV that is connected to my Macbook Pro via HDMI (MiniDisplay Port). The TV is connected to a Sony receiver that is capable of surround sound (reads AC3).The video and sound is working. However, I have an AC3 encoded video file, that doesn't pick up on the receiver. It just says "Stereo PCM" but it's not surround sound. Is there any way to fix this? What information would you need from me about this?
I have the MDP to HDMI and i want to get the audio from my macbook to come out of my Samsung 32" HDTV ive tried 3.5mm M/M didnt work and optical cable didnt work either am i doing something wrong? How would i get audio to output from my TV?
I have the first generation of the silver macbook (with the black keyboard- before it went to macbook pro). I have been watching movies from my computer onto my TV via a HDMI cable. For a while now I have been trying to get the sound from my computer to go onto my TV, but I do not have the option of HDMI on my computer.
today i bought the mini display port to HDMI Adapter at the Apple store. The video display is fine but there is no audio. I checked my preferences and there is no option for the TV's speakers. My macbook is from 2009 if this would make a difference.
I have just ordered a Macbook Air. I have an external monitor that has speakers seperate. If I use a minidisplay port to hdmi adaptor to connect to the monitor, will the sound be able to be played out of the speakers of the Air? If not, can I connect an audio jack and have it play through the seperate speakers?
Mac Book Pro retina ( OS X 10.9.4 ) 10 months old; Apple Tv 10 months old connected to Sony TV . Get picture but no sound. I then connected Mac Book to Sony TV via a HDMI cable. Again picture but no sound. Rebooted Mac Book tried again, no success.
I got a DVI-to-HDMI cable from the Apple store, the employee there said it was the best way to connect my Macbook (older model) to an HDTV. As it turns out, HDMI carries both video *and* audio and unless I'm mistaken, my TV doesn't have associated audio jacks for either of its HDMI inputs. Is there a way around this, or is HDMI not a useful way to connect a Mac to a TV?
