MacBook Pro :: New Battery But Health Isn't 100%

Feb 8, 2012

I reccently bought a new MBP late 2011. I took it out the box and charged it to 100% but the battery health was 94%(iStat) is it normal for a new battery to have 94% health? shouldn't it be 100%? I asked this question because when my brother bought his MBP early 2011, it had a 100% health out of the box.

MacBook :: Dropped Battery Options With New Battery?

Dec 22, 2010

My battery needed replacing for a couple of months before i dropped it from about knee level onto a sidewalk. After the drop I got the not charging icon. I thought maybe the battery had just finally died. so I did not panic about the no charge. The laptop works fine when plugged in to power with the old battery on or no battery at all. Not at all when unplugged. When I put the brand new battery on the lap top, the computer shuts down halfway through boot up.

MacBook Pro :: Best For Battery Health - Plugged In Or Not?

Aug 24, 2010

I just bought the new MBP 13" 'cause I'm gonna need it for college, but since I'll also use it as "personal computer", for web browsing, playing music and movies, I'll probably have to charge every day. My question is: if I got home and my MBP is dead, I plug it in and use it, when the battery is fully charged, I have to unplug it or I can use it for the night (still plugged in) and just unplug it the next day for school?

Is it somehow harmful to my battery life? And by the way, I've read that "discharge the battery" means just use at least until the 50%, is that right? So if I charge it just when it's about 40%, I just need to recalibrate once a month, and that's all fine, right?

MacBook Pro :: Battery Health Only 89 Percent

Nov 3, 2010

So I bought a macbook pro 13" about a month ago. I've been running coconut battery tests on it and the battery health is only at 89%. This is super upsetting to me. I went to the apple store and they ran their diagnostic test only to tell me that my battery is within specification, so they wouldn't replace it. The health they calculated was 91%.

What should I do? This seems unfair to me.

Battery capacity: 5141 mAh
Original battery capacity: 5770 mAh

MacBook Pro :: Prolong Health Of Battery?

Sep 13, 2009

So I've got a few questions about ways to prolong the life of may new macbook pro's battery...

1) How often should I fully charge/discharge?

2) At what % should I plug in?

3) At what % should I stop charging?

4) If my MBP is 100% charged is it bad to keep using it while plugged in? Or is it better for the life of the battery to unplug it and let it get used?

5) Any other tips/advice?

Only reason I'm asking is because my 2 month old 13" MBP is already down to 90% health after only 32 charge cycles .

MacBook Pro :: How To Check Battery Health

Feb 13, 2012

I am confused as to what the "battery health" of my MBP is. I downloaded an app it told me it is 89% but it is not consistent with the cycles, mAh capacity, etc (it should be more?), so I am thinking the app might be innacure in reporting this (reviews say this). I just want to have a second source to see where I stand.

MacBook :: Is This Normal - How To Check Battery Health

Nov 24, 2010

I was looking into buying a new macbook pro and I was just looking at my current macbook 13 inch and I hadn't checked my battery health for a while so I went and had a look. I was extremely suprised to see my battery had done 1046 cycles and according to istat, my battery was at 92% health...

I have had my macbook 13 inch since november 2007. It has been having a few problems lately with over heating but I was wondering if it was normal to have a battery that had gone through so many cycles and still have around 4-5 hours battery life (when I am just browsing the net and doing uni work i.e not watching movies or listening to music)

MacBook Air :: Unable To Know About Battery Health Drop

Mar 3, 2008

Just wondering why battery health would drop down to 96% from 98% using iStat Pro as my widget ?

I did a full drain of my MBA yesterday and ran it on reserve power and let it fully drain until it went to sleep, then waited about 6 hours after it went to sleep until there was no light flashing on my MBA....

I put it back on charge overnight and opened it up in the morning and it was fully charged, but the battery health now shows 96% as it was 98% a few days ago ?

How do I get the health back to over 98% ?

MacBook Air :: Sign Of Normal Battery Health?

May 16, 2009

I've had my refurb rev a for a week now. I absolutely love the form factor and it has really impressed me with what it can do. (My last computer was the 1.67 Powerbook G4 with 1 gig of ram.) However the battery life concerns me. When I got the air it had 4 cycles and 97% health. 10 days later i have 15 cycles and 93% health. I'm not concerned about the cycles, but should the health be declining this fast? If not what can I do to increase it? I've tried calibrating it and it really didn't change anything.

Battery Loadcycles - 80
Age - 8 Months
Current Battery Capacity - 85%

I tried calibrating my battery twice in that past two days to see if the capacity will jump, but it has not.
