MacBook Pro :: Display Will Not Work - No Image Transmission

I have a 15inch Macbook Pro from Late 2007; well it worked just fine yesterday, but as of this morning the display will not work! It makes the Chime when you power it up, but no screen display; you can adjust the volume buttons and hear that it is on and the volume can be adjusted. The screen brightener and dimmer does nothing, as well as the keys brightener and dimmer. The apple website said to reset the PRAM which I did and then if that didn't work to reset the SMC which I did and got no change in my problem. And now the part that boggles my mind is I have the cables to hook up the MBP to my TV so I figured I'd atleast be able see it on the TV if the display has crapped out but its doesn't transmit the image to there either. Is it possible I caught a virus that kills displaying ability?

MacBook Pro :: Display Won't Work Without A Second Display Plugged In?
I'm using a Dynex Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adaptor to use a second display (an older display, I'll admit). After I have unplugged the adaptor, my MacBook still tries to read the second display, and switches back-and-forth between a blue screen & my desktop. It stabilizes once I plug the adaptor back in. What is causing this problem, and how do I fix it so I can use my primary display without having the adaptor constantly plugged in?

MacBook Pro :: Image Breaks Up Into Different Blocks On Display
So my screen is giving me issue, not so much the physical screen, but the actual image on my display. I took some screen shots. I assume its something related to the graphics card, but I'd love more info. The screen shots didn't end up working, they came out all black. But basically the image breaks up into a difference blocks, then reorganizes itself. You can see it repeats sections of the Window, but makes it impossible to try to work. Or sometimes part of a Safari Window will stay "on top" of any other Window.

MacBook Pro :: Using Mini Display Port To Dual-Link DVI Adapter / No Image With 3840x1200
I ordered the Mini Display Port to Dual-Link DVI Adapter regardless of the many complaints that it's not working in order to connect my new MacBook Pro to my Matrox TripleHead2Go. This Graphics Expansion Module normally allows to use two 1920x1200 monitors when connected to Dual-Link DVI (3840x1200). It works fine on my old MacBook Pro (with Dual-Link DVI output), but with my new MacBook Pro the first monitor just turns black and the second tells "Out of Range" when using the Mini Display Port to Dual-Link DVI adapter.

When I am reducing the resolution to 3360x1050 (2x1680x1050) it works, but this is not the native resolution of my two 24'' monitors and therefore is useless.

The Matrox Support only told me that the new MacBook Pro with Mini Display Port is not supported, but as it's working for 2x1680x1050 with the Dual-Link DVI adapter, I was wondering if the Mini Display Port to Dual-Link DVI Adapter could be the problem.

MacBook Pro :: Will A Retina Display Work With Bootcamp/Windows
I just order the new MacBook 15" with the new  2880x1800 Retaina Display.

But I'm gong to run Windows 7 (and 8) on the machine, which have nerver been a problem on my current MacBooks/iMacs. But now I wonder how Windows will handle this resolution?

Windows has a DPI setting that makes everything bigger on a high resolution display. I never used it, and I don't know how well it works. Is that the way to go?  Would you change the order to a none retina display, if you were me?

Mac Pro :: No Image On Second Display Connected To This / Solution For This?
I would like to use my Mac Pro with 2 screens (one is the 21" Apple Cinema Display and the other one is a Samsung 2250 ). But I can see only the display connected to the 1th DVI port of the ATI Radeon HD2600 card. On the display preferences I see a second monitor connected with 1024x768 resolution. But there is no image.

I have removed the ATI graphic card and installed it on a PC, it instantly did work fine with 2 screens. In this case, I have no idea what is going on the MacPro, I have tried everything possible with the settings on the display preferences but cannot get any image on the display connected to the 2nd DVI port.

My wish is to connect three monitors with an additional graphic card but first I have to solve this problem.

perhaps someone could suggest anything?

MacBook Pro :: Dual Display - Full Screen Video On One And Work On The Other?
I have a Samsung 2033SW hooked up to my mac and whenever I play video full-screen on either screen, the other screen goes blank. This happens regardless of whether I use VLC, RealPlayer or Quicktime. How do I set it up so that I can play full-screen video on one and still be able to use the other screen to work?

I'm pretty sure it's not because there aren't enough resources because I can still play "fit-to-screen" on one screen and still have access to the other screen.

MacBook Pro :: Rotate Display Works Then Doesn't Work
I want to use the built in display of my MacBook Pro in portrait mode, and turning the computer on it's side. By going to System Preferences and command-option clicking on Displays I am able to choose to rotate the built-in display 90 or 270 degrees. Some times this works perfectly. Other times the display maintains standard rotation, but resets to using the middle third of the screen (like an upright rectangle). It's like the computer prepares the correct dimensions then just won't carry forward with the rotation. I can't figure out any special conditions for when it works and when it doesn't.

MacBook Pro :: Mini Display Port Doesn't Seem To Work
The Mini DIsplay Port on our office's new MBP (MacBookPro6,2) does not work with the office Toshiba projector, (several years old - 800x600 VGA) that I use for presentations. We have used a variety of MBPs with this projector over the years, they have always worked fine. With the new MBP, we are using a new Apple (not 3rd party) Mini Display Port (MDP) to VGA Adaptor. When connected, projector says "No Signal". The workaround is to copy the presentation to my personal MacBook Air 11" (MBA) and connect the projector using the same adapter. Just disconnect the MDP adaptor from MBP and connect to the MBA. This seems very strange behavior for a two week old MBP. Is this a known problem with the MBPs?

MacBook Pro :: How Can I Work To MBP With Higher PPI Than External Display?
I'm thinking about updating my Macbook Pro C2D 15'', which is already 3 years old. I'm planning to get the 27'' Apple Cinema Display (finally!) when it come out later next month. I've decided that I'd go with 15'' Core i7 Macbook Pro, but couldn't make up my mind on the screen resolution; Standard 1440x900 or Hi-Res 1680x1050.The thing that really bugs me that the pixel-per-inch (PPI) of the MBP and ACD. The ACD 27'' has 108.79 PPI, with relatively close to 110.27 PPI on STD MBP, while the High-Res MBP will give me 128.65 PPI. This would mean that the text on the High-Res MBP screen would be a bit smaller. So, my question would be for the person who're using current ACD (24'' ?) with Hi-Res 15'' MBP or 17'' MBP (which has 113.xx PPI):1. Does the difference in text size seems noticeable when you switching from one screen to another?

MacBook Pro :: I7 - Trackpad Doesn't Work While Hooked Up To TV (external Display)
I so have a new 15" i7 macbook pro and I just picked up a mini-display to HDMI adapter from the Apple store near my house. I'm trying to watch some movies on my HD TV, but as soon as I hook up the external display (A Sony 52") I get a whole range of issues. First, my trackpad doesn't work while its hooked up to the TV. As soon as I plug in the HDMI cable the trackpad acts very screwy. Things like I move my finger left and the pointer moves right, but does so in a choppy manner and without a lot of response. This exact problem occurs in both OS X and Windows 7, so it has me kind of worried. Since its cross-OS I'm worried that it may be hardware related.

And Secondly, after using an external mouse (Which works fine, by the way) and I set the movie to play at full screen resolution on the Sony TV, the video plays very choppy. But the computer has a good graphics card so I don't understand what is going on.

MacBook Pro :: Audio Doesn't Work With Kanex Iadapt 51 Mini Display Port To HDMI Adapter
i am trying to connect my 2009 macbook pro to my HDTV using this adapter: [URL] which routes the audio from the headphone jack through the HDMI cable. i need to do this since the 2009 macbook pro doesn't supply audio through the mini display port. the video works fine but the audio isn't getting through to the TV. the macbook detects the adapter when i plug it in to the headphone jack - in preferences/sound the audio output is automatically switched to digital output instead of built in speakers. a guy on the kanex forums told me this might be an issue with the recent software update to mac os x 10.6.4. any chance this is true, and if so can i do anything about it? anyone else had similar problems with this kanex adapter?

PowerPC :: Never Get A N Image To Display
Being the IT guy at work, I've inherited a (currently) non-functioning Dual 2.0 GHz PowerMac G5. It' exhibiting some pretty odd symptoms. Let me explain:

First of all, the problems started with the machine coming on (fans audible, Apple chime 'chimes'), but nothing was displayed on the
screen. This led me to believe if might be a video card issue, so we ordered a replacement from OWC and no dice. After trying this, I happened to leave the machine on unintentionally for a while, and after about 5 minutes, the fans ramped up to full speed, very loudly. Since we were in a bit of a time crunch (and it was out of warranty) we gave up on it, and purchased our graphics designer a new Mac Pro.

With a bit of googling, I determined that this sound a bit like a dead PRAM battery. So once again, off to OWC I went and purchased a replacement. I get it setup at home last night, and still no dice. If fires up just fine and chimes, but no image on the screen. And here's where it gets weird...

I powered the machine down, and took the cover off to check the PRAM battery again, thinking I may have inadvertently put it in backwards. It looked fine (fits both ways, BTW, so I'm still not 100% sure I have it in right), so I powered the machine backup--but without putting the cover on accidentally. The red light on the mobo came on indicating the cover was off, but I figured I'd wait to see what would happen first. Still nothing on the screen, so I popped the plastic shield in and latched the side cover, and BOOM! Wouldn't you know, it displays an image! I can see a folder icon with the Finder icon on it.

This is 100% reproducible every single time. If I turn it on with the cover ON, I can never get an image to display. However, if I remove the cover and plastic shield, fire it up, then replace the shield and cover, I always get the folder with Finder icon. This is quite perplexing. I should also note that I had my retail Leopard install disc in the drive the whole time, hoping to boot to the DVD if I got an image. It obviously wasn't automatically booting from the DVD, but instead would always display the Finder icon.

Being a post-PowerPC Mac convert, I'm not really sure how to proceed.I'm still not really convinced that there is an underlying hardware issue still, but I suppose it's a possibility.

MacBook Air :: External Display Does Not Work With Lid Closed?
The external 19" LCD display does not work with the lid closed. However, it does work in full 1680x1050 when mirroring is turned off and the lid is open. When I turn mirroring on and the lid is open, the external display does not work at full 1680x1050, it shrinks the external view so the resolution is 1680x1050 but only displays 1280x800 worth of pixels.

Summary:

* lid closed, mirroring on, external display does not work (goes into "out of range" mode)

* lid closed, mirroring off, external display does not work (goes into "out of range" mode)

* lid open, mirroring on, external display will not do a full 1680x1050, instead will do 1280x800

* lid open, mirroring off, external display will do a full 1680x1050

A USB keyboard and mouse are attached. This exact setup worked flawlessly with a gen1 macbook pro out of the box.

How do I make the display work with the lid closed?
