Is anyone else having an issue which the '10 MBPs have problems with audio playback in iTunes? It happens on all songs a couple of times every song (even purchased from the iTunes store) whether it's the only application open or not. I'm not having other problems with iTunes video, it's just stuttering playback.
View 1 RepliesDuring video playback (itunes, vlc...) stutters every 50 seconds or so (no exact interval) and the video currently playing pauses for a few seconds, the audio however continues on. After the short pause it skips a few frames ahead. It doesn't seem like a big problem, yet it's very annoying while trying to enjoy a movie.
Also, I'm not sure if these issues are related, but every minute or so my magic mouse jumps around the screen for multiple seconds (not only during a film, all the time...). Also very annoying, as I work with Photoshop & Illustrator, meaning I do very precise work with my mouse.
whenever I'm listening to music or watching a video after a while the audio will drop out, stutter, or become horribly distorted. If I pause the video or music for a second then start playing it again the output will be okay for a few seconds to a few minutes then stutter again. If I leave it stuttering the output will either eventually go back to normal or just stay stuttering or muted. Once or twice I've got a 'you need to restart your computer' kernel panic error (log attached/linked to below) and twice my computer has seemingly randomly restarted itself.
I know it's not an issue with my connection as it happens on locally stored files as well as streaming media. I know it's not a hard drive issue as I've had the problem across two different hard drives (I used the Migration Assistant to swap my stuff from one HD to another, presumably bringing across whatever causes the problem). I've had it with two sets of RAM as well. It happens whatever web browser (for streaming media) or music/video player I use for local files. If I restart the computer I get a longer period of time before the stuttering starts, and it gets more frequent the longer I leave my computer running - a RAM issue maybe? I seem to be having problems either with hardware or iTunes. First, I notice a delayed response with iTunes when pressing play. It didn't used to take so long to start a track, or even unpause a track. This is with only one other program open, Firefox. Also, with mutiple files from different albums, there are pops, dropouts, and clicks when listening to music. It sounds like I'm moving the 1/8th jack around in the headphone output. This would lead me to believe I'm having a hardware issue. It happens with headphones or speakers.

Since a couple of days I'm noticing a popping sound during audio playback through my external speakers. That means when playing back a video or music through iTunes, basically always when there's audio playing. I'm in the process of figuring out if it also happens on my regular integrated speakers.
My MBP is the recently released 15" Core i7 model. Only thing I changed is I added an Intel SSD.
Any thoughts as to what it can be? Or where to start looking for a solution?
i have been making backup QT movies of a whole bunch of Beta SP tapes using an AJA Ki Pro to record ProRes 422 files. I have used QT7pro to trim these movies and add metadata. Played back on QT7 (7.6.6) they sound find but playing the same movie on QT player 10.1 there is an echo on the audio as if one track has been knocked back about 6 or 7 frames. Using QT7 to set Ch1 and 2 to mono or stereo makes no difference, just spaces the echo out.

it basically appeared today, and I haven't changed anything, to my knowledge. Playback is choppy, with some stuttering and static noises...It does this even when playing straight to the computer speakers...I've disconnected my router to make it isn't the culprit (it slows down my internet connection quite a lot).

I'm looking to digitize my DVD library and be able to play back the files with surround sound. The actual digitization process isn't the issue here, but I want to know how I can go about playing back the files and not losing the surround sound. I'm planning on buying a new mac mini to do this and connecting a mini-toslink cable up to my receiver. What application should I be using to get the audio playback?

The audio is fine as long as you don't maximize the viewing window, as soon as you do the audio become choppy. I keep all my movies on an external hard drive, 1Terrabyte Western Digital Mybook (the one recommended for macs. I even tried copying a movie onto the computer hard drive with the same result. This all seemed to start after I had my mac mini hard drive replaced.

I also have a Y audio cable connected iMac to the AV1 on the TV. The problem is I can only select one source on my TV, either AV1 or HDMI 1. If I select AV1 I can hear the audio from the video streaming on my computer (no video shows on the TV), but if I select HDMI 1 I can only see my desktop background no audio or video. How can I get both the video and audio to play at the same time? Why am I only seeing my background and not video?

I´m cutting music videos and while the external video (BM Intensity Extreme via HDMI) is only delayed 2-3 frames, it is virtually useless...
Each time I sync my iPhone and I had foobar or another media player open the sound distorts really bad. Now this used to happen months back then suddenly worked with out any interference. But again, iam now getting this awful distortion when I try to sync-anyone know why?
View 1 Replies View Relatedwhen I'm playing something in iTunes, in the small window centered over the Library, I now get an audio level bar display instead of what I would call the normal, default display (shows the item being played, artist, title and all that, plus a progress bar showing where you are in the piece). I can't find a thing about this online elsewhere so far, and have no idea what the iTunes nomenclature for this function or the small centered window above the Library.

Using iTunes I converted a mp3 music file to wave and then burnt an audio CD. on a CD-R Everything worked fine. Now the CD plays fine on the any computer but not on my stereo. I am using a MAC OS X 10.9.4. The recording speed was 10X.

I am running iTunes 11.2.2, which I assume is the most recent download.
During playback of songs in iTunes I get momentary audio drop outs or interruptions of songs. They happen once every 45 seconds or so but it varies, and they are not consistent from playback to playback (they happen at different times in the song when the song is played multiple times).

I have two 500GB Momentus XT drives in my i7 MBP. each filled to 60-80% capacity. But when I'm doing anything from typing to playing back HD video in FCP, it lags and stutters, then catch up to itself. I did the firmware upgrades to the hard drives, and I have 6GB of RAM. What on EARTH would be causing this? It's driving me crazy! I ordered a Hitachi standard 7200RPM drive to swap into this to see if it's a hard drive issue or a RAM issues, but I'm guessing it's the Momentus.

It's constantly hot (CPU is always above 70*C), it can't get through one youtube video with out stuttering and overheating, it can't run my external sound card (Audio 4 DJ) in conjunction with anything else, and it can't play AVI files without freezing and bugging out. It's a 2nd gen Black MacBook with 2ghz processors, 2 gb of ram, and an upgraded WD 320 GB HD. Is this thing about to take a dump on me? Is the motherboard on its way out? Is there any chance of fixing this thing? It seems the only thing my computer is good for theses days is doing light browsing on the internet. (read light browsing = no flash and no html5.)

Every once in a while all applications that are open will stutter when I minimize or maximize them. I can't really explain it other then the fact that the animation in not smooth. When I restart the computer everything goes back to normal and is smooth. I notice this happening after I install or update a program. This usually occurs right after I see the color wheel spinning.

View 14 Replies View RelatedUsually my G5 runs smooth as baby's behind but lately its been a bit jilted and has been freezing for a few seconds at seemingly random intervals.
I don't think it's a hardware problem, Windows seems to be working ok.
When I'm performing a simple task like typing in a URL or dragging a file to another location it will sometimes stop responding and give me the spinning beachball.
It doesn't stop running alltogether; iTunes for instace will keep playing during this period, and I can move the mouse around etc.
I notice it the most when I'm watching flash video like on youtube... the video - despite being completely loaded - will sometimes freeze and then resume a little further into the video. Very annoying.
I know this is a pretty broad problem but can anyone offer any advice? I havn't really done anything to it lately apart from install a security update.
I'm trying to make an old iMac G5 (17" 1.8ghz non-iSight model) of mine useful again and am giving it to my mother, but after adding another 1gb stick of memory (making it 1.5gb total), putting in a new 7200rpm 500gb HDD and upgrading it to 10.5, I'm experiencing stuttering youtube in Safari and general sluggishness.
Could it be possible that Leopard, although supporting PPC is slowing it down? Maybe, then, downgrading to Tiger again might fix things. Mostly, I'm confused at why it would be struggling to play YouTube clips in Safari (and in the newest build of Webkit, even).

We successfully hooked it up last night, and the video worked. I was told in the store that this setup would not transfer audio, so I already knew there would not be sound coming from the TV, rather from the Macbook instead. My Q is: What's the easiest way to get audio to come from the TV? I'd rather not buy external speakers to plug in, if I can help it.
Trying to figure out if something is up with mine and a buddies machine specifically or they are all buggered....
Please post if you have an audio pop or click type sound that is intermittent (every few minutes or couple hours) on your i5 or i7 machine while playing audio through external speakers.

I.e. Plugged in / on battery, programs running, usb plugged in, etc.
Mine happens whether on battery or not, iTunes, games, movies, Locked in video card...
- Volume is at max
- System Prefs>Sound>External Speakers>Volume Max>Not Muted
- No red light coming from the headphone jack
- Tried inserting and removing headphones, no sound in speakers or headphones
- Restarted computer while holding down ⌘ + OPT + P + R , no sound made
- A very very faint feedback, like when you plug an electric guitar in to an amp, can be heard when the first sound (the mac start up chime) is supposed to play on restart
- USB headphones work
Good evening, all. I searched the forum but didn't see anything related to what I'm asking. Does anyone have any problems playing back DVDs? I have to remember to take DVD player out of full-screen playback because it will sometimes freeze and I have to power down. In addition, sometimes while I'm viewing a DVD de-interlaced, the screen is garbled. Switching the de-interlacing off gives me the picture back. I took a picture of what it looked like the one time it locked up on me.
