Mar 6, 2010I am just wondering if Preview can do everything that Acrobat can do? And if Preview is more efficient and less CPU-intensive than Acrobat?

View 8 RepliesWhen I was using Leopard and I hit "Print" I'd click the Preview button on the bottom left and Apple's "Preview.app" would open the document to be printed (with a Cancel & Print button at the bottom of the dialog box). Now in Snow Leopard, when I choose to see the finished product before I print, I click on "Preview" and Adobe Acrobat opens the item I want to print (which does not have a Cancel or Print button available).800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, Mac OS X (10.6.1)
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased and installed Adobe CS2. With Acrobat Professional comes a Safari plugin that automatically views PDFs in the browser. However, I much prefer the standard Tiger PDF viewer as Acrobat takes forever to load. I've looked everywhere and can't figure out how to disable this feature.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Mac powerbook G4 15" powered by PCG4 (1.1). The operating system is OS X 10.3.9. The installed Acrobat reader is the 5.0 version which is outdated. Every time I try to download the appropriate version as stated by Adobe off of their website, it won't allow me to do it. The cursor points at the download, but clicking on it does nothing.

I am unable to load any Adobe applications. I keep getting an error that I do not have the correct application/program to do the install of Acrobat X Pro and suggests going to the app store to download such software/programs. The Adobe product/media is for MAC and Adobe confirms suppport for 10.7.3, however the media only contains a .pkg installer file not a .dmg installer file which I need for MAC. I have tried two different DVD media for the same software and this is the case with both.

Using Safari, when I go to a webpage with a .pdf URL the page is blank. I recently upgraded to Lion and purchased/installed Adobe Acrobat X Pro (I was using Acrobat 7.0 with Snow Leopard). The only way to access these types of pages is by trying to download linked file (which sometimes doesn't work).

I was wondering if anyone has heard of this problem and has a solution. So I opened Bridge CS4 (Snow Leopard is my OS) and selected a photo. Clicking on View - Full screen Preview on the menu bar doesn't show the picture full screen, and pushing space bar to view a full screen preview doesn't work either. What happens is that when I push space bar to get a full screen preview, the entire menu bar at the top of the screen and the dock disappears. So I'll click the desktop, and they reappear, but once I click Adobe Bridge, they disappear again. So I have to alt-q to quit adobe bridge to see the main application menu bar.

Installing the latest Adobe Reader causes Preview to be overwritten by Reader as the default PDF reader in Safari. There's a setting in Adobe Reader prefs that should aloow one to change the setting, but it is greyed out. You'll need to go to your HD/Library/Internet Plug-in folder and remove the Adobe plug-ins. Quit and restart Safari, then Preview is default again.

In Windows XP/Vista, if you are navigating in a folder containing pictures, and you click any picture, it opens up Windows built in preview program. Much like OSX. However, in Windows, you can click "Next/Previous" within that program to quickly flip through those photos. Why do the up & down arrows in OSX not work? I still prefer my iMac to any PC I have owned, but this one little thing bugs me to no end. Is there a setting I can change somewhere to make that work like in Windows?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have bought Adobe Creative Suite 5 recently. It contains Acrobat Pro 9, instead of the newly released version X. That's okay with me, although I was a little disappointed when us CS5 buyers couldn't get a discount on Acrobat Pro X. No, the reason I'm calling out is because Acrobat's new icon is perfectly in line with the icons of the style of the main CS5 applications. They look like little books, while the Acrobat Pro 9 icon still has that flat style of CS4. Could somebody send me the new Acrobat icon? Doing so would be really simple. Copying and pasting the icon onto an empty folder, zipping said folder and uploading the resulting ZIP file.
