I just "upgraded" yesterday from a Power Mac G4 to a 17" MacPro. Among other adjustment problems, I can't open PDF files. The message I get is "You can't open the application Adobe Reader because it is not supported on this kind of Mac."
I've tried downloading the latest version of Adoobe Reader, an although it seems to download, I can't find it.
How do I deal with PDF files on a MacPro?
I have just updated my Adobe Reader and now I can't download and open pdf files anymore.
I tried going through the preferences in Reader, but it says that the setting is tied in with 'security administration' settings on Mac OS X.
I have not actually changed anything in the settings so am assuming that this is something to do with the most recent update to either Adobe Reader or OS X security.

This is driving me crazy. I've just downloaded and reinstalled the latest Adobe Reader. But Safari is still acting up. I see the watch icon instead of my mouse when I click on a link to a PDF. Then I just see a white screen and I end up having to force quit Safari.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just purchased an iMac OS X version 10.7.3. My kids keep trying to play games but are prompted that they need to download Adobe Flash player. I follow the prompts for the latest version, but no luck. It says it's successfully installed. When I go to system preferences and click on the flash player, it says "plug in version 11.2.202.228 is installed" but when I click the "check now" box and it tells me to the Adobe websitem, under version information it says I have 9.0.124.0 installed? I have uninstalled and reinstalled countless times to no avail.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had an iMac for 8 months now, and I have recently bought a new router as my previous one died after 3 years of service and so I got a new one from BT (I'm in the UK). The new router works with 3 laptops, an iPhone, and two desktop PCs - but not with my iMac.
It intermittently picks up the signal and when it does finally connect, says the router is not connected to the internet - despite my laptop and iPhone being on the same desk and connecting.
Since I upgraded adobe, I haven't been able to open pdf's directly from websites--I just get a black screen (in Safari, or a white screen in Firefox). I can sometimes right click on the link and either download the pdf or save it as a document as a workaround to enable me to open it.

I have been able to open pdfs perfectly well up until I changed the security settings on Adobe Reader. As I read somewhere that Apples have an inbuilt pdf reader I trashed everything Adobe, but still can't open pdfs. Tried using Preview to no avail.Â

I used to use Preview to view PDF files but found the files didn't display properly, in particular the annotations, so I installed Adobe Reader & the files displayed properly. Lately though the files have changed & open in Safari through a plugin, which doesn't display properly & don't give the option to open in Adobe Reader. I'm running osx 10.6.4 and Adobe Reader is giving me fits. It doesn't play well. How do I change the default PDF reader from Adobe to Preview or iArchiver? Adobe Reader just grabs hold of the download and won't let go.
For years I've used iTunes' "Create AAC version" .mp3 to .m4a feature in the advanced menu, primarily to reduce the file size of my many thousand mp3 songs.
Since the latest update to iTunes, whenever I do this now, the AAC version file size created by iTunes get larger, and makes the .m4a significantly bigger than an .mp3.
I understood the very point of an AAC/.m4a was to be a smaller sized file of an equivilent .mp3 while keeping a similar quality.
I know large artwork affects the file size, but this still happens regardless of artwork.
Does anyone know what's changed re this feature in this latest update?
I have iMac 10.6.8. OSX SnowLeopard.   Downloaded Adobe 11 to be able to access transcripts. Successful install of Adobe achieved. Trying to open a PDF document that is sitting in my download file with transcripts and the screen keeps going back to Adobe advertisement telling me to download Adobe. I enabled plug ins.  How do I open the PDF files ?

I am working for my eagle scout rank and in order to do my service project, a form must be filled out on the computer as a pdf. I started the PDF on my old dell, and i downloaded Adobe reader for my mac to finish it. For preview, it takes the lines of the paragraph and overlaps the words, rendering it unreadable, and for adobe reader, the words are invisible unless editing those words. when the text box isn't selected the words disappear.

If I got the most recent white macbook with an adjustment of the hard drive to 250GB it would have a resolution of 1280x800 does this mean CS4 would not run on a macbook? Does anyone have a macbook with CS4? How is the performance?
