OS X :: Software Update Will Open And Progress Bar Starts At About 10% And Never Moves?

My software update will open and the progress bar starts at about 10% and never moves. I read other posts saying it was downloading update and to give it time... I have a decently fast connection and left it running for almost 24 hours and it never budged. Does anyone have any ideas on what is wrong or how to fix it. If no one has any ideas, I will take it to Genius Bar, but thats a long drive for me, so I would prefer to figure it out on here!

My MacBook Pro will not start. It chimes and the gray progress bar starts and then the computer shuts off. I am able to start it holding the Command +R keys and access Disk Utility. That is where it says my S.M.A.R.T. drive is "failing". I have a backup from Time Machine from a week ago. I am concerned the computer is going to die. What should I do and is my computer going to die?.

FCPX V. 10.1.3 / OS X MAV 10.9.4Â
When sharing "Apple 1080p" the progress bar jumps right to 9% then stays there no matter how long you leave it.I have restarted, shut down, cleared memory, and tried three different destinations (USB, Ex HD, iMac HD)Â
This has happened once before but randomly stopped happening a few hours later but it doesn't seem to be the case this time.

Whenever I open a pdf, adobe starts to open every pdf file on my computer. Does anyone know of any way to stop this? I couldn't really find anything on search. I am running OSX 10.6.3

Today something strange happened to my macbook pro. I turned it on, and when I went to check for updates the new update was available, so I clicked it.
Once it completed at the app store, it restarted and a whire screen with the Apple logo appeared and a bar.
Literally the bar only completes like 25% of its shading and then it shuts off.

I received my new iMac 27" yesterday and as it has Lion pre-installed I ran Software Update to check.It did this OK, but then my second attempt it had an issue with one of the files and wont complete.Since then when I clcik install items it minimises to the doc, but no sign of progress and does nothing (it seems)Â How can I get this to work properly again as it should?Â

Time machine failed in progress as my hard drive failed. I have an "in progress" file on my external harddrive that is about 160 GB. I would like to try and load this back onto a new harddrive. Migration assistant is not responsive nor does Time Machine recognize the external drive when connected.

After restarting my MacBook pro for updates, I clicked on my user icon which read 'update needed'. After entering my password it began to install the updates, but the progress bar just stopped halfway through, and 2 hours later it hadn't moved. I then switched off my mac and tried again and again but the same thing keeps happening.

I decided to fit a 4th bigger hard drive in my g4 1.25 dual ghz. Installed it pressed the power button and it lit up but nothing else happened, i opened the case slightly and it starts up? Close the case and it shuts off.

My unibody macbook that is about 3 months old is acting really weird. When i open 3 or more windows of safari and itunes it starts to lock up and act slugishly. When i open activity monitor it says is still has about 800mb of memory open. It is the base model with all stock components.

I'm having trouble opening Panasonic GH2 raw (.rw2) files after 10.7.4 update. I cannot view them in quick view or open them in Preview.I verfied on a another Mac running 10.7.3 - works fine; and then immediately after 10.7.4 update it does not work.

I need to get the App Store working so that I can re-install a Lion upgrade that I already purchased before. I ran a software update of my macbook air so it is now OS X v10.5.8 but Quicktime did not update. It is still 7.3.2 Itunes says I need 7.5.5 or later. How do I update Quicktime? I've tried re-running the software update and it doesn't find anything.

Jpegs and other media files that I could open on my MBA now give me error messages when I try to open them. I have Flip4Mac, VLC, and Perian installed, and I had no problems opening these files prior to the latest OS update.I'm a relatively new Mac user. I've tried repairing disk permissions and running the maintenance scripts.

Since I updated to 10.6.6 I can no longer open my mail application. I get a message stating that "You have version 4.3 (1081/1082) of mail. It can not be used with the Mac OS X Version 10.6.6."
When I was updating my mail was not in the application folder but within a separate folder in the app folder, so it may not have been updated.
Now my question is how do I solve this, I can't work properly without the mail application!

After using Open Firmware Update my G4 went into a crazy circle. At first, it was impossible to start up, and when it was possible, just for a couple of seconds, and then the translucent screen asking you to restart the computer pressing for a few seconds the start up button.

I have update FCP to 10.1.2 yesterday and now i can't open one project that i have to re-edit now.
It's a 1.30 min editing project with a hundred of clips in that specific event, clips are still there and i can preview each one with no issues (same for others events and projects that i'm editing now) but when i'm trying to open this particular project (double click) FCP shows evey time a spinning wheel and freezes, its RAM's usage goes to the moon and i have to force quitting.
What i've tried:Â
1- pick up a backup file and use it deleting the corrupt one in my library (i've used 3 different files from 3 different days, no luck)Â
2 - deleting preferces (alt+command+click to launch)Â
3 - deleting generated event filesÂ
4 - deleting .flexolibrary fileÂ
5 - using Onyx to clean my Mac ProÂ
6 - shutting down and rebootingÂ

Every time a menu pops up asking me to choose yes or no, the mouse automatically moves to the yes like it's ready for me to click. I'm pretty sure I set it to do this a while ago, but I forgot how to change it back. It's late, I'm frustrated, and this is bothering me. A few searches didn't get me anywhere. Anyone know what I'm talking about and/or how to change it back?
