Jun 2, 2014My Mail app will not open, and now when I need to update my mac, it won't because it says the mail app "cancelled restart". Mail app will not open nor close. When I click on "Mail" at the top bar, the "quit" option is in light grey (not clickable). Mail is still accessable on my phone. Is there a way to delte the app all together (with out having to take it in) and re download.

Apr 21, 2010deleting emlx files that was accidentaly copied to the desktop. When I highlight all the files to drag it to the trash a popup windows appears with the option to Skip, Stop or Continue. I have to manually click on either skip or continue for all the 10,000 files which is going to take me couple of days.
My question is, are there any command or builtin application that can delete these files without asking for confirmation?
OS X V10.7 Lion :: Change The Size Of The Force Quit Window?
May 13, 2012When I open the force quit window, it fills my entire screen, and it is larger than the screen of the TFT monitor that I am using from time to time. How can I change its size back to original? The window is not resizable by dragging its border or clicking the green plus button in the title bar.
I don't know how the window got this size in the first place. All I know is that it happened during a crash where I closed a lot of other windows and where I accidentially clicked the green plus button of the force quit window instead of the red x.

Dec 2, 2014 I've assigned the tags I want to a file, I'll get the beach ball. If I go into the Force Quit window it will say that Finder is not responding. But if I wait about 20-30 seconds it stops and I can go about my business w/o re-starting the Finder. I only noticed this after installing Yosemite. I use tags A LOT.

Feb 17, 2009My household has an iMac G5 that acts as a media hub and its getting slow. Instead of getting a new iMac to act as a media hub, I was considering buying a new Macbook and a 24" Cinema Display for so everyone with a Mac laptop in my household could have access to a big screen if they want it.
The issue is that the G5 iMac contains all of our media under separate user accounts. We stream this media all over the house and synch it with iPods, iPhones and an Apple TV. So is it possible to attach a large hard drive to the Airport Extreme and use it as a media server with multiple people accessing it from their laptops or will this multi-user situation turn into a user account nightmare? We all keep separate iPhoto and iTunes libraries so combining them into one is not really an option.Or would it be simpler to just use the laptops as adjunct machines and do all our file management (and Time Machine Backups) from a central iMac?

Jun 20, 2012My MacBook Pro Retina Display laptop is having display refresh issues. hard to explain whats going on, but its basicly lagging. When I open a new window, not everything shows up, sometimes only a button will show up. If the whole window does show up and I try to move it, the frame will be ghosted where every I move it. The only way I found to fix this is to restart the computer.

I use computer for just the basics -- web surfing,email, i-tunes, and just a few Word documents saved. So I still have most of my memory yet available, and have very few applications installed. Is there a simple solution to fix this and prevent it in the future. So far I am not enjoying my switch from PC to Mac. I have had far too many of these random, complicated glitches which seem to require an advanced degree in computer software to solve.

Jun 21, 2010I accidentally quit finder instead of Safari this morning and now Finder will not open. I still have it in the dock but nothing will work. I also do not have the toolbar at the top either. I can still open the other icons on the dock and use them so I can get on Safari, Ical, etc. I thought I did this once before but I can't remember what I did to rectify the situation.

OS X Yosemite :: Many Of Apps Will Not Open - Quit Unexpectedly
Dec 3, 2014The icon starts to open and then I get an error message. Some of the apps are Adobe Reader and various Garmin apps. The message is "<name of app> quit unexpectedly" and then it gives a long list of computer info. This happened suddenly and I don't know why. I have used the Disk Utility App but it has not worked.

Dec 10, 2014This has happened multiple times now since installing Yosemite. The problem displayed above is that after force quitting I can't open an application all. Even though it's not running anymore, as proven by the black dot that would be under the icon if it was. I've had this happen with 2 different applications: Steam and Google Chrome.
