OS X Yosemite :: MacBook Pro Runs Very Slow After Upgrade?
Dec 5, 2014I upgraded to Yosemite on my MacBook Pro (non-retina). Now the system is incredibly slow.
1) wake-up form sleep takes up to a minute
2) Various icons will not open or respond until I have clicked on it three or four times and get the spinning beach ball (Finder, Calendar, iTunes)
3) Using Outlook for Mac app - similar issue as 2 when trying to send mail, add attachments or do anything
speeding the system back to Mountain Lion levels?

Nov 30, 2014My MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012) is too slow after installing Yosemite version 10.10.1. All programs take for ever to load especially Safari and even chrome. I regret upgrading to yosemite, it was all fine with Maverick.

Dec 7, 2014My macbook air running slow even on recovery mode when I press Alt + Power it takes me to Mac os Utilities the mouse barely moves, I erased every thing on the hard drive so I can install a fresh copy of mac os but I couldn't because every time I try to boot up from the USB that got the mac os it takes for ever to load the OS for installtion, and some times every thing freeze when I'm on the Mac os Utilities mode.

Get a coloured wheel often. More worryingly recently when waking from sleep, the left half of my screen is distorted like an old unturned TV!!

Recently download Yosemite OS X as offered as free upgrade. Also changed the password last evening but that hardly is related to the issue. The bar is new on start up! It has worked albeit very slowly in recent days since Yosemite dowload. Was working in Mavericks okay.

Slow Macbook Pro Download Speed
Jun 12, 2012I'm running the macbook pro 2,3 GHz intel core i5 version 10.6.8. Me and my friend are on the same wifi connection, but his macbook (thats 1 year older than mine) downloads 10 times faster. I'm getting around 0.24 Mbps while my friend gets around 1,8 Mbps. My internet is really slow and I have trouble opening a lot of internet sites. I wonder if ive done something to my settings so that the download limit is limited or something.

MacBook Air :: Why Wifi Download Speeds So Slow
Nov 1, 2010I'm beginning to wonder if Apple put a lousy Airport card in the new MBA. No matter what the wifi hotspot, I get downloads of 2MB. I just bought a new Airport Extreme at home and I really thought the MBA would be faster.
Am I missing something here? Do I have to "match up" the MBA with my Extreme to use the fast "N" connection? Or is there some network setting to tweak on the new MBA?

I took a speed test on speedtest.net which stated that my download speed was 9.7mbps which is what I'm paying for, but still my browsing speed is ridiculously slow on all websites.
I've tried using firefox and chrome but they all seem to be having the same problem.
I am connected by ethernet as airport has full connection but can't seem to load anything. I have also tried to configure my ethernet connection manually as i read that this would help the issue.

Apr 29, 2012i have newish MBP and iMac. I also run several windows 7 based pc's. Over the last couple of weeks the download speed on both mac's has declined badly. Trying to download drivers for an HP printer yesterday and was downloading at around 25kbps on both macs, ended up downloading on windows pc at around 800kbps instead, same with any other downloads, was getting over 1.2mbps on windows last night whilst my macs struggle toexceed 30kbps making them almost unusale. I am a relative newcomer to apple, love build quality and feel but am nor too happy with this situation, have tried using different internet connections too - tethering to my cell, same result - 2 different machines so it seems to me the issue sits somewhere within Lion.

I receive free internet included in my apartment rent, and I don't use a router, instead I simply plug into the wall. I previously used a Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista and there was no problems. I am not very knowledgeable about computers really, especially when it comes to the internet. I need advice on how to speed my downloads, but speak to me like you would 2 y/o.
I can't seem to find anything that applies to me or I can understand. I'm currently using Transmission for torrents and Safari for browsing, but my general internet connection outside of downloads seems to be fine.

Dec 4, 2014Since the dreaded Yosemite upgrade my mac has ground to more or less a total halt trying to open the internet in any number of browsers (safari and firefox to name but two).
I have been able to run a speed test and says my wifi has my 60+gb download speed and about 6 upload so no issue there.
I am confused to say the least what has gone wrong as my phone and iPad seem to work ok. simple terms if there are any solutions what the problem is as i am really crippled and my business is suffering.
PS Apple i am really not impressed by this totally botched upgrade and when going into a store to see one of the technicians they will only see you if you pay.. this is your fault i might remind you.

Nov 30, 2014I recently had a new hard drive put in my 2007 iMac and have been experiencing some problems. I did a clean install of mavericks, then upgraded to Yosemite and the machine has been very laggy, finder and all programs included. I saw a few posts about FileVault being an issue but I checked and it is turned off.
I should also add that the machine was running fine on Mavericks, slowness only started after the Yosemite upgrade.

Nov 30, 2014I've been having Wi-Fi issues with Yosemite (both 10.10 and 10.10.1), but only on my home network. All other wi-fi connections have been strong/reliable. I also ran the Yosemite beta from July (I think) until the full release, but did not have any similar issues with wi-fi.
Here are my hardware specs:
Plus a 500gb hard drive.
Here's the info on my computer's wi-fi card, and my wi-fi network itself. Router is a Linksys E1000 (which is ancient, I know, but I can't afford a 5.0GHz router right now and that seems like the only worthwhile upgrade).

OS X Yosemite :: Mail And Safari Are Extremely Slow
Dec 4, 2014Since installing Yosemite Mail has slowed to a crawl with a spinning beach ball for 30 seconds or more each time I select a message or a mailbox. I had a very large (about 5GB) mail file that I have used as a filing cabinet for years. The only way i could speed it up was to very tediously delete thousands of stored emails and mailboxes (after copying the old mail file to an external disk). I had this problem on 2 MacBook Pros (1 Retina) and a MacBook Air. I also have a MacPro (2013) and did not have the problem on that machine although I do not keep large mail files on it.
In addition Safari takes 10-15 seconds (sometimes longer) to display every web page. Perhaps it is because the preferences no longer let me select display as received and it is always waiting for the full page do download. If that is the problem Apple should put it back the other way - many web pages have the bulk of the information available immediately with some stuff taking a while to finish but the info I need is in the first batch.
I have also had problems with Safari quitting with the error report window for no apparent reasons several time a day. In general I find Yosemite (10.1.1 now) is starting to be as quirky and un-user friendly as Windows - it is a giant step backwards!

Nov 30, 2014I have a 27-inch, Mid 2011 running the 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5. I currently have 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 in four slots (4 each).
When I uploaded OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 and shortly after uploaded CleanMyMac 2 I started to experience tremendous latency in processing speeds on all applications. Running CleanMyMac 2 multiple times and removing no longer used apps to free up space did little to resolve the issue.
