I am having so many problems since I downloaded it. My iTunes won't connect to my Apple TV, the mouse continually stops working, iPhoto crashes all the time, and everything is so much slower! I can't stand it! Why hasn't Apple put out a fix?

bluetooth on my 2013 MBP. I have a magic mouse and it randomly stops responding. At first I thought it was a problem with the mouse itself. I changed the batteries,To solve the problem and to get the mouse to work again, I have to actually restart my computer.
Then I realized that when my magic mouse acts up, if I open the Bluetooth preferences, in the spot where the name of my computer should be is this weird message that says "do not localize, name not available" So I've finally realized that the problems I'm having aren't with the mouse but actually the Bluetooth in the computer, either it's a hardware issue with the Bluetooth hardware or the driver is defective. Again, when I restart, I'm able to use my magic mouse again. And when Bluetooth is acting up, when I do try to open Bluetooth preferences, I get the beach ball and everything starts to hang.
I'm attaching pictures of what the Bluetooth preferences screen shows under normal operation with the name of my MBP and showing the mouse is connected and a picture of what the Bluetooth preferences window shows when it's acting up. Is the Bluetooth defective?
The last 2 days I have had the left mouse button on any Device on my MBP stop working. Tried SMC reset and it seems to work but them it happens again sporadically requiring a shutdown and I assume another SMC reset.

Every time I try to delete my wifi certificate in Keychain Access, it continually crashes. Tried it in safe mode, still crashes. I cannot get my Airport extreme 5th gen to pass along an IP address to my Mac even though mac is connected to AE (seen via Network Utility). Thought that deleting keychain password would work. View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I've been having problems with my TC for awhile but it has gotten much worse. Now I find that I lose my wired and wireless network often. If I go to where TC is I notice that it is very hot. I unplug it and if I leave it unplugged for a while and replug it in I can get back TC. Usually if I replug it in right away it will come back but I lose it a minute later. The length of time it is unplugged for corresponds to how long it will stay active.
I'm assuming the problem is the heat b/c of the hard drive spinning. However this seems strange that this would be a problem as I'm sure Apple would realize that these drives will get hot and there aren't a ton of problems like this. Do you think I should have it replaced? Any ideas that I should try first? If I replace the TC with an old Linksys router I don't have any problems with it, it is just much slower since it is G not N.
I have a mid-2012 MacBook Pro running Yosemite 10.10.1 that has started something. Here's what it is doing:
When I connect my external HDD for Time Machine to my MacBook Pro the internet stops working. By not working I mean, it is stays connected to the WIFI router with a full signal, but the internet, for lack of better words, ceases to function. I can't browse online, any app - like Mail - that uses the internet loses connection, and even background apps running on the top bar loses connectivity. If I run a Time Machine backup, eject the Time Machine external HDD, and pull the USB cable out of the MacBook it instantly goes back online and continues as normal.
I've checked settings, excluded Dropbox and OneDrive from being backed up in case they were conflicting in some way, and have searched for any answer anywhere I could think of.
The external HDD I use for Time Machine is 750GB and is the same HDD that the MacBook Pro came with originally (I swapped HDD to a hybrid drive internally and put the original HDD into an external HDD enclosure which has been solid for me for over 2 years now).

I have a mid-2008 (June) MBP 15". Just upgraded to SL last night. I am having a serious issue with time machine. I've been using it with the same external HD since I bought my mac last year. No issues up until I installed SL last night. This morning (my first backup since upgrading), time machine started backing up (~ 9Gb) but just stops at around 300Mb. The clock keeps spinning, but there is no change in the amount backed up.
I'm reading that other folks are having this issue as well. Has anyone figured something out?I've run disk repair (nothing found), restarted my mac & external HD (several times each), and cancelled and restarted the time machine backup (several times). Each time it freezes at a different amount (i.e. 34Mb, 284.2Mb, etc...).
On a day-to-day basis I run: Adobe PS, INDD, and AI, Microsoft Entourage, Firefox and iTunes. Just recently, after an upgrade to Leopard, I added Things and Simplify Media to the list.The problem that happens before (on Tiger) and now (on Leopard) is command+tab switching stops functioning and Expose hot corners and shortcuts stop working.
I'm pretty sure this isn't a Finder crash because before, on Tiger, I could quit+restart Firefox and everything would be back to normal. Almost as if some shortcut had causes the system to act differently or there was some app dissonance?
But now, with Leopard, nothing I quit will cause these two features to act properly until I do a restart. Both features (command+tab switching and expose) are very necessary for my work flow. I have checked SysPref to make sure keyboard shortcuts are default and Univeral Access to make sure assisted devices is turned off.
I'm yet to figure out a pattern, but my Macbook Pro's keyboard will just stop working for several minutes at a time at random points in time...Even if I hit caps or num lock, they don't turn green. View 3 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that occasionally my IR sensor stops working, and no longer responds to changing the volume, skipping the track in iTunes, etc. It can be resolved by going into Security prefs, disabling and re-enabling the IR sensor. This is annoying, however, and I'm wondering if it's a known issue that might be fixed.
I noticed that when you disable and re-enable the IR sensor, the last few remote button pushes you made while it was broken come through in a burst.
So to preface my problem let me just say that ive got my own macbook which works on the same wireless network with no faults at all, so i assume its not an error with the networking hardware.
For xmas i bought my parents a macbook, recently (not sure how recently as theyve only just told me its happening) they can be browsing the web then all of a sudden the internet takes ages to load, it stalls on 'trying to connect' for a long time (40+ for each web page).
Ive tried using firefox and the same thing happens so it looks like its not safari specific, during this time i cannot ping [URL] through a terminal either or if i can the response time is unbelievably slow.
Now, ive tried disabling ipv6, ive set the dns servers to opendns and none of this has fixed it. if i click on the airport utility and turn it off and the back on it fixes the problem for a short period of time before it happens again.
Skype stops working after 20 minutes - the other person can hear me fine, but I cant understand a word the other person is saying (very digitalized). This doesn't happen on the PC so I'm wondering if it's an issue with the MAC. Does anyone have the same problem? Any ideas how to solve it?

Every time I go online (on firefox or safari), the internet stops working after about 20 minutes. It used to be about every hour but it's more frequent now. To fix it I have to restart. Once I restarted and the internet didn't even work. It's getting to be immensely frustrating since I have to save everything else I'm working on, restart, and then reopen everything. I don't know much about computers but I'm using a wireless that's shared with one other mac and one other pc in the house. Any ideas of what I should do?

I noticed my sound wasn't working, so I did a restart. The "blip" sound when you adjust the volume using F11/F12 would play, but as soon as I tried to run something else (YouTube video, iTunes, etc.), that wouldn't play (just get stuck at whatever point I tried to start it). After that, the blip sound no longer worked either.
I have tried the following things already and none of them fixed the problem (all of them reset the "blip" sound, but it always went away again as soon as I tried to play anything):- running Apple Diagnostics (no problem detected)- resetting PRAM- resetting SMC
I've checked things as suggested in other message boards … there's no red light in my headphone jack, nor is the sound muted under System Preferences. The problem persists whether headphones are in or not.

10.9.4 mavericks macbook pro retina to TV via HDMI using an HDMI cable to watch movies on my laptop macbook pro retina. was working this morning, and watched a movie. then I go to work, and come back and now the exact setup is no longer working. it does not show any display in the preferences menus, and the TV is just blue without any input. cable is secure, nothing has changed. nothing.
edit: actually I did pull the HDMI cable out while the two were connected this morning.
tried restarting, reconnecting, nothing ... Why computers suddenly stop working for no reason whatsoever. maybe someone hacked my computer this afternoon while I was gone? it's just a random failure.

Every once in a while the mouse pad will stop working. A wireless mouse will work in its place. The keyboard will also act extremely slow during this time. It seems like the buffer is full and it moves on to the next letter i type without using the previously typed letter.

Over the past few months, I have noticed that my MagSafe light will randomly stop working when I plug it into my MacBook. I just unplug it, and plug it back in and it works normally. It seems like the computer still charges though.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI noticed my trackpad started acting funky last night. It won't happen right away when I turn my MBP on, but usually after some time (depends). First thing that happens: it responds slowly; it will move the pointer less than it would normally and it will judder along. Pressing harder doesn't help and sometimes two-finger scrolling won't work one way, or sometimes using my other finger will work better. After some more time, it will stop responding entirely or get unusably slow. I noticed restarting fixes it (temporarily; once again, it depends). Just before posting this, it happened until it didn't want to work at all, and I let it sit for a few minutes, came back, and it worked fine. Ten or so minutes later, its still working (no restart). It's troubling and I'll probably take it to an Apple Store to have it checked out, but I won't have time to do that for some time, so I'd like to see if this is possibly something well-known or fixable.
I thought it might be dirty, but I cleaned it, well, a few times, and still nothing. My hands are clean, too. I thought it might be something I "spilled" onto my keyboard a few days earlier; it wasn't anything watery, it was a rather thick consistency. I hope that isn't it, as I cleaned it quick and well, and it wasn't on the trackpad, and the keyboard works perfectly. The only thing I was doing when it first happened was video chatting via MSN (MSN gets my Mac hot, and I was worried it was the heat that did something, but IDK for sure). I only started using MSN about a week ago, and it gets my Mac really heated each time I use it. I did some searching on Google about this, but nothing quite like my situation. I haven't looked at everything, but, nothing yet.
Recently, my MBP's single-tap-to-select stops working, usually after I wake it up from sleep. This happens almost every other day, for the past 2-3 weeks (since 10.7.3 I'm guessing). Double-tap-to-right-click works fine, and keyboard commands all work, but single-tap just doesn't work till I reboot the machine. It's driving me mad. Even plugging in a mouse doesn't help, so it's not a trackpad / hardware issue at all.

I have a macbook pro MAC OS x and have started having issues with my computer's screen going black while working in iphoto. The only thing I can do is to press the power button to power down and then reboot. My memory is fine on the computer. All updates have been completed. I seem to have a problem with my ethernet port not working after a specific location change...I have three locations I used frequently. Let's call them:
1) HomeWireless
2) WorkWireless (used when I'm in meetings)
3) WorkEthernet (used when I'm at my desk)
My general practice is to change locations just before putting my MacBook Pro to sleep, and then it is happily ready for the desired network when it is awoken.I'm not sure what this change in behavior coincided with, but as of ~1 month ago, I am finding that going from WorkWireless to WorkEthernet, my ethernet port appears to be completely dead and I have to reboot the computer to reactivate it (yes, I've checked the cable itself and the wall port at they're OK). I've tried a couple ways of disabling & re-enabling it in software, but I don't get the impression anything actually resets this interface - suggestions are welcome as perhaps I just didn't try the right thing. I couldn't find anything quite the same as "networksetup -setairportpower" for the ethernet port.Oddly, this is not an issue with going from HomeWireless to WorkEthernet. Both HomeWirelss and WorkWireless have the ethernet interface deactivated in the Network pref pane, and perhaps the only notable difference between HomeWirelss and WorkWireless is that I use a static IP on the former and dynamic on the latter.

I'm having trouble with my new macbook pro where in some applications after scrolling down and stopping, I sometimes am unable to resume scrolling. I have tried shutting down the application, rebooting but nothing seems to work. Whenever this occurs I am still able to scroll fine in pages and safari but the preview app and xcode have been problematic for me.
