I had a MacKeeper icon pop up on my dashboard and my screen tell me I needed to get this to clean up my Mac Pro and protect it from viruses. It looked legit because I wondered how it got onto my dashboard. I installed it but when I moved through the steps it then listed a price which I thought was suspicious. When I googled it many responses said it was a fraud. What can any of you in the community tell me about MacKeeper. If it's a fraud, how do I uninstall it. I tried dropping it in the trash, but it popped out.

I am having MacKeeper popup on my browser every time a new tab opens practically. Tune Up my Mac is also coming up occasionally as well as something called Mac Booster (I think?). I have notifications saying "congratulations you're a winner" and other spam of that sort and I have already moved all of the extensions on my google chrome setting and I am just not sure how to stop these...

Now every time I click something on a webpage I get a pop up for Facebook sign up or a MacKeeper window. Also getting weird double underlines under my usual links and it goes to adds for random websites.

I don't know if anyone can help me with this, but for the past week or so, I've been getting weird popups when going to sites like nytimes.com, macrumors.com, cnet.com, google.com, and other perfectly safe sites that say something along the lines of "This site may harm your computer." And then when I click "Ignore" I get another popup that says are you sure, and I can't get out of the popup, and then I have to quit Safari.
I'm wondering if I have some kind of trojan or something like that. I'll get a screenshot next time it happens.
Basically I just want to be able to use safari without so many interruptions that aren't necessary.

Why can I still get Google cookies even when when I have "Always block cookies" checked? I can close Safair, then reopen it without even entering any site and Google will stick their *#@*&@ cookies and cache files in my Website data file?Â
The "tons" of cache files that I don't even go to the site keep cluttering up the website data file also.Â
If I don't shut down Safari before unchecking "always" and returning to "from 3rd parties" sites that were visited will have their cookies appear, even though don't have that site page open.Â
The iOS Safari seems to be better at preventing cookies and cache files from accumulating.

All of sudden OpenDNS started blocking certain sites. I never signed up with them.I live alone so no one could have done it for me.I cleared cache, reset safari, added DNS servers 208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220I even joined OpenDNS and found to I had no preferences.

When I open up Safari, I have it open to a designated home page.
HOWEVER, 9 times out of ten, if I click "log in" to the home page site, Mackeeper pops up.
I am running OS X Yosemite. Had my 15" MacBook Pro since it was new......2009.Â
Also, my sound does not always work. Through the lap top built in speakers, sometimes through a head set and sometimes through my bluetooth.
Sometimes videos will not play.

I know Macs don't get viruses. Here's my issue. I'm running OSX 10.6.3 with Safari 4.0.5. About 5-6 times a day, running Safari, I get the message I'm attaching to this post. It's a fake popup -- obviously fake, because it tells me it's "Windows Internet Security," and gives me a virus warning. The Safari screen behind the image is grayed out, so the message isn't a real popup -- it's part of the screen.
Note:
- This occurs on mainstream webpages, including google search results pages, Yahoo, and the Wall Street Journal.
- The only MS products on my computer are Office for Mac apps, which I've had for years w/o problem. They are not running when the problem occurs.
- I can click close on the Safari window (not the red button on the warning) or the back button, and the msg goes away.
- I cannot click on other items on the page when the message is there.
- [edit] Also, I've reset Safari, clearing the cache and the cookies. It's only been happening for about a week, but it happens very frequently now.
Again, I know macs don't get viruses, but does anyone have any helpful suggestions for getting rid of this?
One of the pop-window in our web- application is not showing the vertical scroll bar in safari 5.0.5 only. This is on Snow Leopard. The scroll bar appears in later versions of safari like safari 5.1.1. etc.

I am having a problem getting out of an adware popup screen. It won't allow me to click out of it or open up a new tab on my Safari. I have attached a pic.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI downloaded the gmail extension and when I installed it immediately showed up in the toolbar, but that was not the case with the reload button, so now when I go to the customize toolbar pop-up menu Safari just crashes when I roll over it.
