Dec 1, 2014Mackeeper and oneclickads keep opening when I click on a page anywhere while browsing, even if it is not a hyperlink. How to stop them?
Although when I click on a link, my address bar shows "Pop-up blocked" but it still opens up a new window with Mackeeper or other ads. And then I have to click again on the link for the actual page to open up.
This happens on Safari as well as Chrome browsers.

I tried searching the forums but most of the answers I found said OS X is immune from them or did not apply at all. I was having problems with copy/paste not working correctly and other weird issues so I restarted my MacBook Air. Now when the computer starts, this ZipCloud window pops up. The last thing I installed was Dragon Dictation. Could that be the problem? Anyway, I just want to know how to get rid of this ZipCloud popup and anything else that got installed that I don't know about and don't want.

When I sent individual emails to crowdfund recently, I accidentally sent to some of these people, and my friend thought I'd hacked his account. I'd like to see them gone.
In older versions of the OS, I was able to remove email addresses I no longer wanted; now, if I can, I don't know how. There are other addresses I'd like to remove, too.

Dec 1, 2014 how does one remove an added "application" directory? Not just delete it, but prevent the OS from always looking there, even when it's gone ? On Yosemite, I tried to be "clever" (hint: I wasn't and move a few silly apps to a big external USB disk. The idea was I have 1TB internal, 3TB external, and I thought to separate out some apps onto an remote disk so I can disconnect that (thus the hammer version of "now others can't run this app"). And just copying these files to /Volume/Data (the external USB3 drive) functions fine.
Mechanically, this disk shuts itself off, and it takes a good 10 seconds to wind up. So whenever I search for an app or start an app *on the main disk*, it seems one ends up searching all "app directories" anyway (I put that in quotes because I presume that's why the disk is spinning up when I run an app that has nothing to do with my external disk).
So I decided it was silly to have those apps on the external disk because of the spinup time, experiment failed, I uninstalled the apps. BUT the disk still seems to need to spin up before starting a new app up even though the app directory on the external disk is gone. Being primarily a linux hacker before I bought this Mac , I would say "you have /Volume/Data in your PATH". Which is probably the case at some level. But I'm not finding anything to this effect in the system preferences..

Dec 9, 2014Have a Duplex Printer and we recycle paper that already has one sided printed (wife's a teacher - lots of paper). Our MacBook Air defaults to two sided printing and I can not change this. I understand that if you remove the printer and reestablish it, the "two sided printing" option will once again show up. For other document printing it does not.

Apr 11, 2012I was just browsing on Safari when I went to a website and this mackeeper pop up ad came up. It tells me that to keep my mac safe or whatever, I have to install this mackeeper thing. I knew it was a virus so I was trying to figure out how to close it but there is no option to close it, the only option is to click ok. i've tried command+w and that doesn't work either. I have also tried to force quit safari but when I open up safari again, it re-opens the tab. i got my macbook in january of this year, i really don't want it to get a virus lol.

I also keep getting macKeeper and zeboit pop ups. I have never downloaded macKeeper and can't find the virus or malware in my apps, downloads, or finder. Someone told me it was my adobe flash player so i deleted that and anything else that looked like garbage on my mac but nothing has changed.
