When I open up Safari, I have it open to a designated home page.
HOWEVER, 9 times out of ten, if I click "log in" to the home page site, Mackeeper pops up.
I am running OS X Yosemite. Had my 15" MacBook Pro since it was new......2009.
Also, my sound does not always work. Through the lap top built in speakers, sometimes through a head set and sometimes through my bluetooth.
Sometimes videos will not play.

all of a sudden this mackeeper website keeps opening in safari. It opens even when I click to go to a different web page.I close the window, a new one is always popping up. I want to know if there is a way to permanently get rid of this/stop this from happening? Is it a virus? Should I take my laptop in to get this problem fixed?

Every time I go to click a link, or open a new Safari window, nothing seems to happen. No window, links don't seem to work, though they change color as if activated. Did some searching, found that the windows are opening just fine, but opening on a duplicate screen somewhere where I can't see them. Figured a simple restart would fix this, and it did--for about 3 windows. Now it's right back to the same thing. What's the fix? All software/updates are installed/current.
View 5 Replies View Relatedwhat is the reason for the pinwheel? I seem to get it more and more often usually within safari when opening tabs but sometimes when I'm opening apps also. I'm maxed out at 4gbs from OWC I didn't seem to have this problem before I upgraded my ram but then again I didn't have the 2gbs for very long. Also... is the fact that watching videos ie youtube or playing omgpop... (I'll admit u can find me on there, gemmers is my game) makes my laptop super hot mean anything? or what the reason behind it is? kinda curious my sisters boyfriend with the umbp says that his computer doesn't get hot when watching videos but when i watch videos the left side of the keyboard gets very warm almost kinda hot ~80C on average after about 10 minutes of video before the fans kick in but even at the it sits around 70C.

After installing Chrome 18 yesterday, videos in you-tube in Safari did not play. I removed the NP-PP-DIR-Shockwave plugin, and now at least some videos play.I do not have any extensions in Safari. I can watch youtube videos in Chrome which I had to install because the TV site that I was using demanded Adobe Flash and would not play in Safari. I am using Safari 5.1.7 on a Mac 10.6.8

View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought my MacBook Pro 13" 2.4 GHz in late April (new version). I have no added third party software. Everything worked fine until I did the Safari 5 update. Then web pages would freeze when opening for about 3-5 seconds. Then the page would finish opening.
I have also updated OS X to 10.6.4 after this started happening. It did not correct the problem. I experienced this at several locations, including the Apple store when doing one-to-one classes, so I know it's not a problem with my ISP.
I am really stumped as software up to date, Over the last month or so, when opening Safari or trying to open a second tab the colour wheel appears and freezes safari. The only way to get away from this is by powering down and restarting.

It started about a week ago. I dunno if it's a problem with Flash or what. But any time I try to open a video on sites such as gizmodo, engadget, youtube, or full episodes from like [URL]. whichever browser I attempt to open it with just completely crashes. This has been getting worse and worse and now it literally happens 100% of the time.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both browsers multiple times to no avail. I am REALLY dreading reinstalling my entire OS. Is there a way I can completely eliminate flash from my computer? Then I can manually download it from Adobe directly and see if that works.
When I click to open safari on my new MacBook Pro it opens multiple windows at once. How can I stop this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was just browsing on Safari when I went to a website and this mackeeper pop up ad came up. It tells me that to keep my mac safe or whatever, I have to install this mackeeper thing. I knew it was a virus so I was trying to figure out how to close it but there is no option to close it, the only option is to click ok. i've tried command+w and that doesn't work either. I have also tried to force quit safari but when I open up safari again, it re-opens the tab. i got my macbook in january of this year, i really don't want it to get a virus lol.

Why does "mackeeper" ad keep popping up on my screen?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy mac book pro keeps switching from google home page to "search only" or "only search" in my safari preferences and if I google something it redirects to use the yahoo search engine. I also keep getting macKeeper and zeboit pop ups. I have never downloaded macKeeper and can't find the virus or malware in my apps, downloads, or finder. Someone told me it was my adobe flash player so i deleted that and anything else that looked like garbage on my mac but nothing has changed.

whenever I'm using safari, i keep getting a pop-up for MacKeeper, i have my pop-ups blocked in my settings but still continuously get this popping up, how can i stop this from happening?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I was attracted and and etertained with the ad of the MacKeeper program because I saw comments that it removed a lot for their macbooks, so i downloaded it and used it. Unfortunately, it removed the Windows partition (not really the partition), which I really need now. It didn't remove the partition but it cleared the system cache. I discovered it when i downloaded a hybrid for my BlackBerry (sorry Apple,. I'm going to switch to an iPhone soon. ) and the file I downloaded can only be used on Windows. So i turned the mac off, (to switch to windows via holding the "alt/option", and to my surprise, it didn't show the Windows partition! So i was wondering, how can I get the Windows partition b ack without reformatting and installing again since i have all the important files there?
