View 3 Replies View RelatedI sometimes enjoy going for a hike on my to the library, but I am afraid of getting got in the rain. Anyone knows about a light waterproof protection for the 11" MBA?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSimple as that. I haven't seen any.
Oh, and manilla envelopes don't count.
I've been using this case from Brenthaven. It's only $25 and fits the 11" MBA, protects it very well, has a shoulder strap as an extra option and has an outside pocket for charger, etc.

They now list it for an iPad but when I bought it it was under 11" PC cases. I guess they thought it would sell better listed as an iPad case rather than a netbook case. It uses their CORE system, so you could dsrop this from five feet without damaging your MBA. Good value for only $25.
My new case mate suite, mine has a slight broken bit, but with he cost of sending it back being more then the item it self. It is not worth the cost, for an exchange so I will just keep it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to find a review for the Incipio Feather MBP case...
they seem to be available on Amazon, there is even the occasional mention of it on here from a few months back, but there are no reviews anywhere! Have they only just been released? All I have seen is the picture of the supposed sag by the optical drive. Not good.
I am about to get a new 13" MBP. I cannot decide between a Timbuk2 messenger bag, a Crumpler messenger bag or either a Booq backpack or Booq Nerve case. Does anyone have any experience with any of these? I am looking for a case that has enough pockets to keep all of my stuff in along with space for some files and/or book.

I will keep an updated list of games people have requested to see benchmarked here in this first post. All you have to do is pick a game (preferably one you already own) and benchmark it! You can add your benchmark to this thread and again i will direct link to your benchmark in this first post. Useful and awesome eh? If I want to take the hard drive from my defunct G4 Mac Mini and put it in an external enclosure, will this work?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI know this is a long shot for the MR forums, but here goes:
I have my old HD from my Dell POS E510. The drive is a Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 (SATA). THe problem is that it doesn't fit in the two hard drive cases I currently have, so I need to buy a new one.
There are several hookup configurations it seems for SATA Power/Signal and Jumper Block. How do I know which one to buy? Is there a site that matches serials numbers with case models?
I was wanting to know how hard it is to change top and bottom case and keyboard area? I would like to know that if anything was to happen to my soon to have macbook I could change it. Also this on the older macbooks. And if I have Apple to change it how much would it cost? And yes I know that they should replace keyboard case area for free because of the defunct cracking issue.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed Windows 7 and have got as far as installing the graphics card drivers from ati's website (since the ones that windows update installs are almost always out of date). Now the card is being recognised as a Radeon HD 5750 but I know from other discussions best guess is It's actually a Mobility card inside the iMac.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI think I will get the base model (3GB) and add a 2x4GB Crucial kit.
My question is this - is there any hit for keeping 2 x 1GB and putting the 2x4GB in (10GB Total)?
My uses are VM (XP for Corel Draw only) and CS5 in the mac side. I also need to do a lot of handbrake to convert my divx encodes to a more mac friendly format.
This will primarily be used for application development, primarily with Xcode.
I'll also use it for photography/video (GIMP, and stepping into Aperture and Final Cut Express).
I've ruled out an iMac because I want plenty of expansion options.
I know Xcode scales linearly depending on the number of cores but I am trying to look for a sweet spot in performance and budget. I want something I can grow with for a few years (i.e 3-4).
Something reasonably priced, so i can take it safely out in the car with me! Also will be looking for a car charger for it!Decided against getting an iPad coz of the limitations so im gonna get a dongle, looked around & I like the look of TMobile deal of ?40 for 90 days.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have about 50 *.mp3's on my hard drive that have the file names in all upper case. When looking at them in itunes it drives me nuts....Is there a way to convert the uppercase file name to lowercase? I have googled but can't find anything. I do not want to do it manually, that would take a long time =( thanks, I'm crossing my fingers
View 11 Replies View Relatedi have a new mid-2010 i5 iMac with a radeon 5750 processor, and would like to run linux on it, however, ubuntu 10.10 isn't working, i get through the whole install, and restart, and it won't boot. i've installed rEFIt, and it shows up as installed on the drive, but won't boot to anything but black with a flashing white line on the top left. known compatible working version?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an iPad 32GB WiFi and a MacBook Pro as well so I was trying very hard to justify myself in getting an 11" MBA but ending up talking myself out of it. The 13" MBP is perfect for my uses. It's already lightweight and portable as it is. After playing with the 11" in the Apple store, I was impressed on how light it was. This no doubt blows away any netbook or any notebook in it's weight class in terms of size and performance. However, the MBP's battery life, hard drive space, and processing power OUTWEIGHS the reasons of dumping my 13" MBP for the Air. Also, I have it hooked up to a 21.5 Inch HP monitor at home and it's good enough to use as a main computer at home, and light enough to take on the road.
If I needed to lookup something quickly in bed or around the house, that's where the iPad comes in. If I needed to send a quick e-mail, my HTC Evo is already great at doing that. If I didn't have a 13" MBP or even the iPad, I would have most likely went ahead and purchased the MBA. Just now at this point, spending another $1000+ or getting rid of my MBP doesn't make much sense... yet.
I've been lurking MacRumors ever since 'the wait for Arrandale' began and finally decided to sign up now so I could post this thread. I've been a Windows user for a long time now and I have a Win7 rig at home. However, I'll be going to uni later this year so I need a good portable notebook that's suitable for the common mailing 'n surfing, but also for doing some programming in Eclipse (Java) and PHP work etc. I still have my Win7 box at home for gaming and things that require larger screensize, but for the notebook... I feel really attracted to OSX with a MBP.
It will be my first Mac, but my desktop dualboots with OSX and I love it. So that's why I have decided that my school notebook will be a Mac. This is why I have been closely watching the rumors for the new MBPs and ofcourse I was pretty disappointed when I saw that the 13" model still had a C2D cpu... It's not that I need a beefed up CPU in my notebook (... I have a 3.6 GHz quad at home ), but it feels 'wrong' to buy a MBP 13": even the 2009 MacBook has a C2D, so what will the MB 2010 update bring? Is it really worth the extra money? Anyone with a similar situation?
Does anyone know if the PB 15.4 Aluminum case is exchangeable with the Macbook Pro 15.4 case? I have a 1.6Ghz Powerbook which has a few dents in the front but I don't see any of these cases for sale on Ebay, but I do see Macbook Pro cases. It's really a nasty cosmetic issue I'd like to resolve and then sell it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am working on restoring a Time Machine backup from Leopard to a clean installation of Snow Leopard. The only problem I'm facing is that the Leopard backup is on a case-sensitive drive (and the Snow Leopard drive is set up, by default, as case-ignorant).
I have scoured the Web the last two days and have not found a definitive answer to my question: Is there a way to transfer the data from the Time Machine backup on the case-sensitive drive to the case-ignorant Snow Leopard drive?
Yesterday I ran across a tutorial explaining how this might be accomplished using SuperDuper! but a commenter explained that Disk Utility could be used and was much easier.
I tried the Disk Utility method but it didn't work, and I ran out of time to give the SuperDuper! option a try. Does anyone know if it, or even Carbon Copy Cloner, might solve my problem?
I saw a link a while back of a guy who converted an old G5 case into a server, any idea how to do this?
Or does someone know of the link to see his server, or one like it?
Is there any place I can find exact hardware specifications for new Mac Pro 2010?
I mean:
- Chipset
- Audio card
- Network card
- Wireless
I'm asking this because my plan is to try to install Windows XP x64.
