MacBook Pro :: Finding HDD Best Recommendation
May 13, 2010I currently have a MacBook Pro 5,1 2.53 GHz Interl Core 2 Duo. 4GB of Ram. and a 360 GB Hard Drive.
I am wanting to upgrade the Hard drive to a 500-700GB range, can anyone recommend a Hard Drive that would work well with this MacBook Pro? I have read online that while some hard drives are ranked really good, sometimes people have issues when installing in a Mac with clicking sounds, etc.

MacBook Air :: Finding Excellent 11" Case
Jan 4, 2011I've been using this case from Brenthaven. It's only $25 and fits the 11" MBA, protects it very well, has a shoulder strap as an extra option and has an outside pocket for charger, etc.

They now list it for an iPad but when I bought it it was under 11" PC cases. I guess they thought it would sell better listed as an iPad case rather than a netbook case. It uses their CORE system, so you could dsrop this from five feet without damaging your MBA. Good value for only $25.

I have my old HD from my Dell POS E510. The drive is a Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 (SATA). THe problem is that it doesn't fit in the two hard drive cases I currently have, so I need to buy a new one.
There are several hookup configurations it seems for SATA Power/Signal and Jumper Block. How do I know which one to buy? Is there a site that matches serials numbers with case models?

Jun 14, 2010I am working on restoring a Time Machine backup from Leopard to a clean installation of Snow Leopard. The only problem I'm facing is that the Leopard backup is on a case-sensitive drive (and the Snow Leopard drive is set up, by default, as case-ignorant).
I have scoured the Web the last two days and have not found a definitive answer to my question: Is there a way to transfer the data from the Time Machine backup on the case-sensitive drive to the case-ignorant Snow Leopard drive?
Yesterday I ran across a tutorial explaining how this might be accomplished using SuperDuper! but a commenter explained that Disk Utility could be used and was much easier.
I tried the Disk Utility method but it didn't work, and I ran out of time to give the SuperDuper! option a try. Does anyone know if it, or even Carbon Copy Cloner, might solve my problem?

Jun 28, 2010While I would love to buy the latest and greatest macbook pro, I simply cant justify spending that kind of money that apple is asking for on system. Made that mistake once on a new 17" 1.67ghz and lost 40% only after a year.So I am considering an older second hand macbook pro, which I think would do me fine, so the question is which 15"/17" is better for pholo editing. I dont even mind going pre unibody too (but I do like to the 2 finger scrolling)In addition I was thinking about getting into Aperture 3 but it seems a little power intensive so are there any alternative photo editing application that is more resourceful so I dont need the state of the art system to run on?
