MacBook Pro :: Trying To Delete Data But It Didn't Free Up Space
Nov 30, 2014I am trying to delete some data from my macbook pro. I am running out of storage and decided to purchase an external hard drive for my go pro videos. In total the videos are around 60-70gb of data. When i transferred them to my external hard drive i disconnected it and deleted the photos from iPhoto. The problem is....it didn't free up any space. Now my storage just allocated that space to other things which it shouldn't have done?
The first photo is before i deleted the movies. The second is what happened after i did. It now says that 71 gb of data is being used for backups. I do have Time Machine on and i do a backup once a month onto an external hard drive. Im currently running the newest version of yosemite.Â

Jul 1, 2008I had Safari 4 dev preview installed then i removed it after installing 10.5.4 because i needed some plugins that wasn't working, the problem is that when i uninstalled it using the uninstaller in the dmg i got Safari 3.1.1 no problem i thought... But i was wrong.I wanted the latest version of Safari 3.1.2 so i went to software update in os x didn't find it so then i went to Apple's Safari site and downloaded the latest safari image they had when i was going to install it on my MacBook i can't because the system says i don't have 10.5.2 which is required but i have 10.5.4!! So i then uninstalled Safari 3.1.1 thinking that i then could install 3.1.2 but no now i can't install Safari

Sep 18, 2009I bought my first mc yesterday (15", 2.66 GHz) and have encountered a small problem.
Yesterday, I was able to delete files with Fn+backspace. Today, however, the files just happily stay where they are when I use the same key combination. Using the context menu and sending them to the recycle bin works, however.
I've tried repairing permissions, but nothing I do seems to help...
Does anybody have some advice on how to fix this?

I dont want to have go to itunes window, hit delete then "Move to trash". I want the delete button to do that. even if I'm not on the itunes window.
thoughts? It also doesn't have to be itunes. I don't care what it is. if its not itunes i can use it for a month to syphon through all my music then all thats leftover Ill enjoy through itunes.

Intel Mac :: Trying To Delete Files / Locked Item That Can't Find
May 24, 2012I am working on clearing off some hard drive space, and my first step was to remove some unneeded items from an external HD to make some space there. When I drag the folder I'm trying to delete to the trash, I first get a message that the items will be immediately deleted (I think because my internal HD is quite full?) and that's fine because I do want to delete these, so I say OK. It starts the process of deleting, and counting how many files it's deleting, then gives me a message that the operation cannot be completed because item "xx" is locked. The only solutions I have found on here involve unlocking "xx" but my problem is, when I search the computer and/or the external for item "xx" nothing is found. I'm really not sure if the issue with item "xx" is an issue with the drive or with the computer, or what to do about it?? If it's the drive, I suppose I could back up what I do want to save from the drive then re-format it?

In imail when delete an email from any of my mail accounts or the inbox, imail automatically selects the next newest email. I would like it to select the next oldest email. Is there anyway of changing this?
I know this is quite petty! but I'm just used to it working that way in outlook and keep deleting email I want to keep.
