My two-year-old daughter was messing with the keyboard on my iMac, and now the keys on the keyboard are not functioning as they were before. The delete key doesn't work, "a" types a symbol-topped "a" followed by the copyright symbol, etc...
I've restores the factory settings to the function keys in system preferences, but the problem persists.

I just bought a new 2012 aluminum Wireless keyboard and the function keys do not work properly. I am currently running OS 1.5.8. I would expect most keys to match the icons on the keyboard. I do not want to upgrade to Snow Leopard or Lion. I have installed an aluminum keyboard upgrade 2.0 and this did not help. I just want the the keyboard functions to match the icons on the keyboard.. Volume up...volume down...

I bought my first mc yesterday (15", 2.66 GHz) and have encountered a small problem.
Yesterday, I was able to delete files with Fn+backspace. Today, however, the files just happily stay where they are when I use the same key combination. Using the context menu and sending them to the recycle bin works, however.
I've tried repairing permissions, but nothing I do seems to help...
Does anybody have some advice on how to fix this?
I have gotten tired of having to drag files to the trash, instead is there a way i can send it to the trash without having to drag it?
After searching a lot i found i could do it if i held cmd + backspace, but that requires two hands and means i have to take my right hand of the mouse, instead can't i just use the delete key instead of cmd+backspace?
i'd like to ask how to uninstall / delete a keyboard layout of out Input Menu (System Preferences->International->Input Menu) since, i got some problem with my Vietnamese keyboard (everytime a vowel, it'd appear twice) and wanted to delete it to install a new one, but don't know how. I foolishly installed PocketCloud Companion (which was a ripoff) and now am unable to delete it from my apps folder under Finder. When I try to move it to the trash, I get a message that the app is still open. Where can I see it running? This also happened on another occasion where the move to trash cannot be done because "The item can’t be moved to the Trash because it’s open". And I don't know how to find where it is open so I can close and delete it.

View 3 Replies View Related"The operation can't be completed because some items had to be skipped. For each item, choose File > Get Info, make sure "Locked" is deselected, and then check the Sharing & Permissions section. When you are sure the items are unlocked and not designated as Read Only or No Access, try again."With the file I am trying to delete I have clicked the lock to unlock the file under the "get info" and then I close the file out. If I re-open the file the lock symbol shows the file is locked again. Under sharing and permission I have selected the "Read&Write" option.I have searched all over the web and cannot find a way to delete this file or even keep it unlocked.I am running Lion.

How do I delete SPAM without selecting it. On my older Mac there was a way, but on my newer one I can't figure out how to do it. When I select the SPAM messages they open immediately. I'm assuming that merely opening it sends a message to those who've spammed me.

I have a folder on my startup drive that will not delete. I can issue the command "rm -rf dir_7171197" as root, and the prompt comes back with no errors, but the folder is still there. My question is, what are the reasons a file is not able to be deleted? I can change the name of the folder but I can't move the folder into the parent, and I can't put it in a child folder. If I attempt to trash the parent, it just sits there in the trash can and never deletes. There are no additional attributes assigned to either the folder itself or the parent.
