View 2 RepliesI've a MacBook Pro and I can't go to Youtube and Google Maps with Safari. I've also tried with Firefox but the problem is still not solved.Actually, Safari (or Firefox) keeps charging the page but is unable to get it. I always see a blank page. It only happens with these two websites. Other sites are working perfectly.I've tried so many things like installing the flash, erasing cookies or cache, installing updates but nothing helped. This is really annoying. Just to give you an example, if I try to localize my MacBook I just can't see where it is as the map is not appearing.

For some odd reason, my Google Chrome browser will not show the videos from YouTube, but I can hear the sound in the background.
This problem happened during either after I downloaded all of my OSX updates (this is a new macbook), or after I installed SilverLight to watch some videos on Netflix.
In the past, neither of these had that effect on Google Chrome.
Safari shows videos just fine, so I'm not sure why Google Chrome is all of a sudden having this issue.
Over the past two or three weeks, my Safari has bogged down. It will load most Web pages just fine, but YouTube, Google and Facebook just won't launch. I managed to use it to download Firefox and it's working great. Safari is still a no-go.

I cannot access google and a few other websites. Could this be a virus? The google search bar on safari doesnt work either. I am on admin account so parental control is out as well.

View 5 Replies View RelatedOn my mac(10.9.4) System Preference -> security & privacy, no app allowed to access my calendar.
On iPad(7.1.2) Settings -> security & privacy, only Penultimate, Skitch and Evernote are allowed to access my calendar.
It is weird that Gmail can notify me any event I put on my calendar.
How can I block it?

I've been trying to access youtube but it crashes any browser im using as soon as i log on to the page Just wanted to know if i'm the only one?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSafari has been crashing for me every time I open it. It's mostly on sites like YouTube, which leads me to believe that it's a flash problem. When I open the page it just freezes up and the pinwheel just keeps spinning and spinning. I noticed these problems on my MacBook after I upgraded to Snow Leopard, and now they are arising again on my recently purchased Mac Pro (also running SL). I'm running latest version of SL, Safari, and Flash.

Previously the solution was to install Safari plugins Inquisitor or Glims but Apple have removed the interfaces from Safari 4 that these plugins used - and there is still no built in Safari Preference to set the locale of the Google search. Effectively this renders the Safari Google Search field pretty well useless - at least for UK users. If you're searching for UK-based businesses or individuals, for example, the thousands of USA results that come up first are just not relevant - (that's an example of British Understatement. by the way
View 3 Replies View RelatedI get this ad every time I load the page. I figured it was a cookie problem so I searched my cookies for 'Google' and deleted all the results. I'm still getting it. It's not happening in Firefox, only Safari. It's been there since Friday or Saturday. Am I the only one?

I am considering making the switch from PC to Mac. The desktop switch is easy, I would simply replace my Dell with an iMac, but I also need a portable computer, running OS-X not iOS, to replace my ageing netbook, running debian. I will be using it for Internet access, light audio editing and streaming with Audacity, QuickTime and VLC (Ogg, FLAC, etc), some light spreadsheet work (I will switch to Numbers), heavy writing (I will switch to Pages), Sykpe, iCal, and Mail, but most importantly: I am a very heavy user of Google Earth and Google Maps. I am currently looking at the entry level MacBook Air 11.6 as this has a footprint similar to my netbook, but is far thinner and lighter. I rarely use my netbook for more than a couple of hours so battery life is not critical.
I have searched the web and here on MacRumors but I cannot find anyone who has installed Google Earth on the entry level MacBook Air 11.6. I would like to know how it handles navigation, elevation, layers, and streetview? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have found the system requirements for Google Earth (below), but I would like to know how it actually responds in real world use on the entry level MacBook Air. Google Earth Minimum Requirements: ......

View 2 Replies View RelatedI received the Sony/Google TV as a gift recently; and I was curious to know how I could possibly input my MBP on the TV, since its quite bigger than my 17" MBP. The Sony/Google TV does not have a VGA input and I understand why.. but I thought there might be a cord that could connect my MBP to the Sony/Google TV and keep a high resolution. The Sony/Google TV only has HDMI, USB & colored component INs. Is there any kind of cord available that I can purchase without the picture going into the 480i/p. Excuse the amateurity of this question. I really don't know where to start on what cord (if any) to buy.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a white MacBook 2.2 running 10.5.6. I use Google Maps all the time and in the last two days it has stopped working. The initial page loads but then when I search for something at the top it says "Loading" then changes to "Still loading... Slow? Try Basic HTML." I know I could use another map site but I use a webpage that calculates the fastest roundtrip for multiple locations and it uses Google Maps and this is causing that site not to work. It is happening in both Safari and Firefox. I have the newest version of each. Javascript is enabled. I have done every update possible. I have changed my DNS back and forth between the ones from my ISP and some from OpenDNS. There is another macbook on our network identical to mine that is working fine as is a MacBook Pro. I have not been able to get anything done today at work because of this.

I recently bought a 13" MacBook Pro and I've been using Safari as my default browser. Before I got my Macbook and used a Windows 7 laptop, Google Chrome was my default browser. I still wanna use it as my default browser but not sure if it's as good for the Macbook as it is for Windows. I know both are fast browsers but which is the best one for the Macbook? Should I stick with Safari or should I switch to Google Chrome?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI know, silly question. However, I've searched this forum and read about people having core shut down problems and how when playing any type of streaming video or media, the computer slows down. If they do slow down and over-heat... is it because of an issue that can be fixed? Or is the MBA simply not a machine to use for streaming media?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have owned an MBA for about 6 weeks and on the whole love it.
There is a lot of talk and posts about the 'youtube' issue, but I am interested in the technical explanation.
For instance I watched a 2 hour, fairly high resolution movie in iTunes yesterday and my MBA didn't break a sweat. But after 5 minutes of youtube my fans are blowing hard.
What is so demanding about youtube? I hear it is because it is 'Flash based'. What does that really mean and why does it place such a high load on the processor?
On MBA Rev2/SSD after watching 3-4 minutes into a video, on a flat wooden desk, in the new "Watch in HD" format which is suppose to be 720p, the fans rev to 6200rpm and temp at 80C. Mind you I am still in safari and not watching YouTube's full screen mode. And recovery times for the fan to slow down even when it's back to 50C is a bit long. Is this normal behavior for a Rev2?
