i have a 13in macbook before the intel core duo so i have TWO enter buttons, but they both dont work now. I tried using the keyboard shortcuts under system preferences to make a shortcut to do the same thing as the enter button but no luck. I dont know what to do now.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI created an Automator Service to restart my computer in Bootcamp (since I was getting very tired of having to navigate to the Startup Disk Prefence pane every time). What I would like to do, is make this service have a global keyboard shortcut. However, when I try to set one in the Keyboard Shorcuts preferences (i.e. double-clicking and holding down the desired keys), my computer just beeps at me.Â
I thought maybe it was not allowing the specific shortcut I was trying - thinking maybe it was already in use. So I tried many other key combinations - enough to come to the conclusion that this was not the issue.Â

So I started using my MacBook Pro as a device I connect to my TV. I have an HDMI adapter, and, after setting up the display and sound, it is awesome! I even purchased a Trackpad so I can sit on my couch and navigate. The cost of the adapter and Trackpad are more than paid for with my canceling of cable.Â
Anyway, my question is about the virtual keyboard in OS X. It doesn't happen often, but I sometimes have to type in a user name or password for sites. I know how to go through "System Preferences", "Universal Access", and then "Keyboard Preferences" to turn it on, but is there a faster way?Â
What I really want to know is if I can create a shortcut in my dock for the virtual keyboard?Â
If not, does anyone know of any third party, virtual keyboard applications that would work this way?Â

I was just wondering if anyone has been able to assign a mouse shortcut to the show desktop expose function?
It seems to not work for me regardless of the mouse button I choose under SL
We have two suites of apple mac's and we have an apple server (mac mini) They are all running Mac OSX SL 10.6.8 Basically I'd like the server to add an icon to a network share onto each dock so that I don't have to visit each and everyone manually. The guy who used to admin the mac's has left so I'm left to learn everything mac and at present I can only basically use a mac (i'm keen and learning). He used to copy a link over manually somehow I don't know, but the file is a .app file which I believe he placed into the applications folder and ran it like that. I've tried this and it doesnt work. Also he has somehow locked the desktops down so that all the menus are greyed out. The "Go" menu is completely greyed out. He's left instructions on how to unrestrict by using a specific username and password. Even under administrator they are unrestricted.Â

I want to put a shortcut on the OSX desktop for all users no matter who logs in. How can I achieve that? I also wanted to associate a file so it opens a specific program - for all users again (rather than have to set it each time).

Doesn't seem to work. I want to add a keyboard shortcut to open Plex. Preferably command + shift + P.
But under Snow Leopard, I go under Keyboard, Keyboard Shortcuts, +, All Applications, "Plex..." (no quotation marks), command-shift-P
I alternate between French and English regularly when typing, but every time I have to go to System Preferences (or add an ugly flag that does not match the color-scheme to the status-bar) and change the language. Is there a way to have a keyboard shortcut that switches between two keyboard shortcuts?

I love the Apple Notes App on my iPhone because it has the ability to sync seamlessly with my MacBook Pro.Â
I prefer to use the Apple Notes App cause they sync seamlessly for me between devices (I don't want to use another program like Sticky Notes or such.)Â
I was wondering if it is possible to create a shortcut on my Dock (or desktop or keyboard shortcut to launch?) to these notes directly so I don't have to keep opening up the Apple Mail Client (Which I do not use)?Â

I am trying to create a workflow that will monitor a webpage and send me email if the page contains a certain keyword. I got it working, I get email; the email contains the keyword, or is an empty message when the keyword is missing.I would rather not get these empty messages is possible. Until I figure this out, I may send these message at some gmail address and create a fiter there to forward only message with that keyword. Not elegant but should work. Anyway, long term I want a more elegant solution. Here is what I have in Automator:
1) Get Specific ULRs
2) Get Text from Webpage
3) Filter Paragraphs (and here is where I check whether the keyword shows up or not)
4) New mail message (which contains they keyword from #3, or is empty)
5) Send outgoing messages.
As I said, the workflow always works, and will send a message with that keyword, or an empty message. How do I make the workflow send email ONLY if they keyword is detected? There is not IF in Automator as far as I can see. This is the first time I try to do something in Automator so maybe I am missing something.

There's something like that in windows where you can actually have the shutdown/logoff/sleep buttons on the desktop as shortcuts...
Is there a way to create a desktop icon to make my mac sleep?
I know the keyboard shortcut but I'd prefer to click... and yeah going to the top-left corner and click on the apple button and go down to sleep is not quick
