I have a 95MB/s UHS I and Class 10 SD card. Using Blackmagic Disk Speed Test, I get 17 MB/s write and 19.8 MB/s read speeds. Following the information in this apple support document, the speed of my internal card reader is 480Mb/s. Depending upon how you convert bits to bytes, that should be in the 57-60MB/s range.
Anyone know I can get it running at the max?
im about to buy a Imac 2.66ghz C2D and i just have a few questions, The paticular imac im buying has a Ati radeon 2600 HD, and ive been hearing on the internet that it doesnt support features within snow leopard, what kind of features will i be missing out on? Will it hinder the speeds of the computer or will i have any paticular issues when installing snow leopard because of having this graphics card..
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I load a photo from a thumbnail in iPhoto the photo loads a version that is slightly blurry, then after about 5-10 seconds it jumps into focus. I am using a 2006 24inch iMac and the graphics card only has 256k of memory.
Is the delay in focus a function of iPhoto or is it because I have an older graphics card? I'm asking because I want to buy a newer computer (probably a Mac Pro) and am wondering if a faster graphics card will speed up the photo loading.
I got myself a PowerBook G4, trying to weigh my options as far as upgrades go. The airport inside this laptop gives me horrible reception, always has, always will. Would a wireless card give me a significant boost of speed/reception? If you have experience with it, please add your input as I'm trying to justify this purchase if it will have benefits. Example, I'm in my bedroom, 2 floors down is the wireless router (not that far away), and sometimes reception drops to 0...I'd like to have a solid connection.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a two year old Mac Pro ( 2GB memory and 2GB RAM) which up until now has worked very well, extremely well really. Alas for some inexplicable reason it has decided to takes it's time coming out of the starting gate. It has gone from around 15 seconds to around 5 minutes. So far I have eliminated apps which I have not been using as well as a few startup items that I didn't really need.I have cleaned up my desktop so that there is only one Icon on it.
I have also de-fragged my startup drive.I have used Disk Utility which tells me that the disc is fine, and it seems to be working just fine when it is up and running. I have also unplugged my firewire and USB connections. I have run my cron scripts deleted all rotated log files and repaired disc permissions. Maybe I didn't need to, but heck, who knows, I am no expert. Maybe a reinstall may solve the problem or resetting the Pram may work. I don't really know for sure but I'll try anything just in case.
noting the diff which is speed, type of ram, graphics card and harddisk. My more impt factor is the graphics card. Is the new Nvidia 9400m better than the old ATI card? Not sure which to get... how to balance with the new machine with the price....My assesment is that... the diff is about $100 or even equal if i upgrade the old model to 4gb ram. So, is the ~$100 diff justifiable to get the old one cos its $100 cheaper but get a better graphics card? Or pay $100 more to get the new model with a bit slower CPU, lousier graphics card but double the hard disk and DDR3 ram compared to DDR2.

This is driving me crazy, so any help would be greatly appreciated.I am using an IBOOK G4, running OS 10.3.9. Never had any major problems with the computer itself I am currently living in Korea, and thus have very highspeed internet. However, on my Mac, it is running quite slow. There is no modem that I can reset, because the apartment building is already wired so my ethernet cable connects directly into the wall. A friend came over to test the connection (speedtest.net) with his PC and he was downloading 60,000 KBPS, when I plugged in my MAC I was downloading at 15,000 KBPS. He downloads various things at around 2mb/s and I sometimes only get 50 kb/s.

Two questions, wondering if anyone knows the answer:1.Looking for maximum bandwidth of ExpressCard/34 slot in MacBook Pro(Since eSATA raid is supported with ExpressCard, the bandwidth should be there. Looks like it has at least 70MB read/write?)2. Are there ExpressCard/34 SSD disks that runs faster than internal SATA drives? (Mtron seems to make only 2.5" and 3.5")
View 24 Replies View RelatedSorry for the title but I couldn't think of anything better. Hopefully I'll be able to explain my problem. I have a MPR 2.53 ghz, 4 gig ram, I'm using Safari 4.04. I am using the WIFI at a guesthouse in Thailand (but I had the same issue in China, Vietnam ...). I ran a speed test and it said download 7mb/sec and upload about 1mb/sec. I have an "app" that says bandwidth in 1.3kb/sec out 1.0kbs. I thought maybe it was Safari so I downloaded and installed Firefox. firefox gives me similar speeds. When I downloaded Firefox though I had a download speed of over 1mb/sec. But as soon as it finished downloading the speed went back to around 1kb/sec. I have rebooted my MBP many times. I did some Google searches but didn't find anything helpful.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a WDS local network at my house. I use a Airport Extreme in my main part of the house and a Airport Express for my back part of the house i.e. the backyard. Now every two weeks or so my internet speed through my Airport Express slows down about half the speed but when I am connected trough the Airport Extreme my speed is normal. I know this because I test my connection very often. Now when I want the Airport Express to get back up to speed I have to unplug, and plug it back in. Then after awhile it starts to slow down again in a time period of two weeks or so.

If you have a 13" 2010 MacBook Air with the SD card slot, and you are looking for a card to expand the capacity of your MacBook Air, what is the max capacity card currently available that you can use in this slot. I hear that they have new cards with capacities of up to 2TB, but are these cards compatible with the SD card slot on the MacBook Air? (SDXC 2TB cards)
View 17 Replies View RelatedI have a 2010 13" MBP, and have just realised that I'm unable to read my Micro SD card when I pop it into a SD card adaptor and attempt to read via the inbuilt SD card slot. It works fine on my XP netbook though.
Has anyone encountered this problem? Is it normal? Is there any way around it?
As the title says, I have a card reader that works great with a CF card, but the MBP won't recognize an SD card. This is a new problem for me. I also have an express card adapter for SD that won't read the card, either. I have tried 4 different SD cards, and these exact cards have worked for me in the recent past (within the past 2 months). They work fine in the camera. I also tried connecting the camera via usb, which was unsuccessful. I tried blowing air on the cards and the reader. I cannot get the cards to be read on my wife's macbook. This makes no sense to me, as it worked fine the last time I tried. I find it hard to believe that all cards are corrupt, or the cable is the problem because it reads the CF card.
