What is the best small printer to go with an air book and thunderbolt screen and be a great printer?

this has happened a few times in recent weeks. I lock the screen on my MBP (mid 2009) and go do something for a few minutes. When I come back, the computer won't come back on. I have to hold down the power button for ~10 seconds and shut the computer down hard and then power it back on. What the heck is going on here?

I have a weird problem with my MacBook Air. I was browsing the web when I think I hit a wrong keyboard combination. I was trying to select text cmd+a. But a small white window popped up with some text. After that safari started acting weird. Whenever I tried to open a new link it did not simply open the link like usual. But it downloaded it into my download folder. I also noticed that I could only type special symbols.
So I tried to reboot my MacBook Air. Usually it boots right to the login screen. But now it first shows a startup screen where I can select a boot device. So I select macintosh HD and it boots up like normal. But I can still only type weird symbols so I cant login. First I thought maybe my alt key is stuck but it works just fine and I did not do anything with it.

Is it possible to force the login screen instead of the locked screen when the computer goes to screen saver? I ask because the computer is used by the entire family - and by going to the login screen with all the users shown, the individual user will be more likely to login as themselves rather than just the current locked screen user.

I am switching from windows 7 to a powermac g5 with 10.5.8. I copied all my libraries from widnows 7 (photos, music, videos, documents) into my external drive. However the folders have a locked icon when I view it from osx. My drive is formatted in ntfs if that matters.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to edit any pictures with Preview anymore since I upgraded to Lion. Every time I try to save an image after resizing or whatever, it says the file is locked. If I check the info of the file the "locked" checkmark is unchecked. And I have all the permissions to the file. Tried everything, switched the "lock after 2 weeks" thing of in Time Machine (even though tha would probably not help: images I took today are still "locked" in Preview), tried copying them and then saving them, and tried to lock them and then unlock them, but I can't seem to edit and save them.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was using safari and my screen locked up. Large areas got distorted and little (maybe 1/8" blocks) started flickering all over the screen. It wouldn't recognize any input from my keyboard or mouse. This really scares me for a number of reasons: I wasn't doing anything very difficult to cause the crash, The computer has basically nothing on it, and the reason I bought a mac was for its stability. I head back to school tomorrow (read: I head far away from a mac store), and I need to know if I should go by the mac store before I leave. It's a 27" i5 if that makes any difference.

I have tried to install leopard on my Macbook Pro. It just takes me to the gray boot screen with the apple logo in the center and the circle status bars. It won't leave this screen. Stayed there all last night. Every time I reboot it goes here and won't advance. I can't eject the disk either.
View 4 Replies View RelatedUsing an Apple Bluetooth keyboard, when I lock my screen (using the Keychain Access dropdown menu method) and leave my computer for an extended period of time (a matter of hours), the keyboard disconnects and thus, I cannot enter my password when I return. I checked the Bluetooth set up options and while I realize this is likely due to battery life concerns for the keyboard, is there anyway to keep the keyboard connected while not in active use? Is there a screen locking method that still allows me access to the Bluetooth set up menu when locked?

Getting a message within photoshop that files cannot be saved as they are locked. I check the same files with 'Get Info' and the locked file box is unchecked. I have changed file permissions on the entire disc so that everyone can read/write but still the same message. Tried terminal command to uncheck flags also to no avail. I can do save as but a little frustrating. Is there a workaround to get all my files back onside?
This is a new disc that I may have installed without due care to permissions/ownership when I formatted it.

I have my printer connected to a PC with Windows 7. I have 3 PC's that can print to it over my wireless network. But for some reason I can't get the MBP to print. I have tried many methods and they have all failed.

i have a destop pc running windows xp and a macbook running leopard.
i want to be able to print from my macbook to the printer connected to the desktop pc wirelessly.
anyone know how to do it?
I just set up my printer on my home network, and it works with my two wireless PC's, and now I am trying to add it to my 3 macbooks, but I am having some trouble. I connected to it through system pref > print/fax > selected my printer. It connected and works sweet, but, the driver must be wrong. I was not sure what the driver was so I just chose GenericPostScript but when I print, a blank sheet comes out, no text. The PC's print just fine, but not my MacBook. It is a DELL printer connected to my dell PC, so I am not sure what driver to use. All I know is it is a Dell AIO 926.

Using the step-by-step guides, I've managed to connected my MacBook Pro to the printer over the system and have managed to print. The only problem is, when I do send a document to print from my MacBook it only prints out a blank page with nothing printed on it. I know that the two are connected as I can send things to print, and it's not an issue with the printer as my desktop is able to print fine.

I'm having trouble setting up my printer to run from windows. I have a Macbook Pro, and successfully installed Windows XP sp3.I have an HP photosmart printer connected wirelessly using an Apple Airport Express. I have no problem printing from the Mac partition, but can't set up my wireless mouse or the printer when I switch to Windows.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've followed the instructions on the Apple website in relation to adding a Windows shared printer to a Mac [URL] but I still can't get it to work.
When I send a test page to the printer it appears in the Windows print queue and shows 'spooling' as the status. The document never prints.
I really don't know where to go from here, I'm just totally stumped and I've been trying for weeks to get this to work. Has anyone got any ideas?
We have 2 computers over here, one uses Windows Vista, the other is an iMac with OS X Snow Leopard. They're both connected to a hub, said hub is connected to the modem. The Windows machine has 2 printers connected to it, an HP DeskJet and an Epson Stylus.
Now, I would like to access one of those 2 printers from within OS X, so I can actually print without moving files between both computers through an USB stick or whatever. I've put both printers in Windows Vista on "Shared", but I can't seem to find them anywhere in OS X. So I guess I'm doing something massively wrong.
Below is a chart of how this "network" looks like.
So, is it possible like this to get access to the printers on the Vista machine from within OS X? If so, how do I properly set it up?
I'm current sharing my printer in OS X to both a Macbook and Windows laptop. I often switch between OS X and Windows, so is there any way to share the printer using the same settings from both operating systems? It would be more convenient obviously if it wasn't necessary to check which OS the desktop's currently in beforehand.

I have a network consisting of three Macs and a PC running Windows XP. One of my printers (a Canon Pixma MP830) is USB-connected to one of the Macs with sharing turned on. Thus, I am able to print to this device from any of the Macs. How can I access this shared printer from the Windows device? I can't determine an IP address because the printer doesn't have one.

I am currently sharing the printer via USB (broken networkport) connected via a Mac using 10.4.11. I can print from every Mac, obviously. However, I can't print or know how to set this up for use in Windows (parallels).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem installing a printer on XP within parallels. I am using the bonjour setup wizard to install the printer. When I use the setup, I am able to see the printer and go through the necessary steps to set it up. How do I change the permissions so I can install the printer?
I cannot connect to my HP7150 on my windows network from my MBP. I can see all of the files that are on that computer, and other windows computers on the network can print just fine. Is there a tutorial somewhere that can help or can someone please tell me how to get it working? I've tried just about everything.
