I accidently deleted some file on my computer that wouldn't let me start up my MacBook pro, 13 Inch, so I had to press Command- R at start up (brought me to Lion Recovery) and I choose reinstall lion and I started it yesterday morning and all day and over night. It's barely half way through and it says "148 Hours Left" which is crazy.. Should I just wait? is this normal? what do I do?

Tried to reinstall op system on macbook pro (mid 2010) that came with snow leopard from a time machine backup and it didn't accept my password. I had upgraded to lion, guess that's part of the problem. So I reinstalled again without my time machine backup and can't figure out how to get lion back on, along with the rest of my time machine backup now that i'm back in snow leopard? Tried to use migration assistant but it said i didn't have the correct op. sys. to continue.

I once had iLife on my macbook, however when I updated to OS X Lion, I couldn't find it anymore. I am currently running version 10.7.3. Â I need to reinstall iLife without using the CD and without going to the Apple store as I am no where near one. Â P.S: When I search for iLife in the App Store it says I have to pay. Â

I am going to replace my hard drive (and add RAM) on my Macbook Pro (mid-2009) myself. I have Lion (10.7.4) currently, and have backed up via time machine on an external drive. I don't have Lion on a usb, and from what I read, Lion Recovery via internet isn't applicable for my macbook (pre 2010). Is the time machine backup a bootable drive? If so, then am I all good so long as my backup is completed prior to replacing the hard drive? If not, how do I create a bootable drive so I can get back to "normal"?Â

I woke up, went to my late 2011 MacBook Pro and it took forever for the display to wake up, and it kept showing beach ball. After some minutes, the login prompt came up but with the beach ball still spinning. After waiting for like 3 minutes I decided to shut it down by pressing the power button. The computer restarted and it's giving me a screen to re-install Lion from a backup or from the app store. I shut it down to see if it will work fine, but I keep getting the same screen re-install screen. Now what I want to know is will re-installing from the app store wipe away my documents? And don't have a backup to re-install from.

I recently returned from a weekend long trip. My mom had used my Mac Book Pro (December 2012) on the guest account. When I opened it on Monday it was unresponsive, and the screen only showed the dock. I rebooted, but the result was a white screen with a flashing folder with a question mark. I followed instructions on the forums, and used command r. Now I am stuck. I didn't back it up with time machine, so that option (Of the 4) is out of the question. I'm using the safari one now. I can't modify or delete my disks for the Disk Utility Option, and am unable to select a disk to reinstall Mountain Lion on. Long story short, I seems my computer is having problems with the disk.

How do I erase and reinstall macbook pro 10.7.4? Turn on and hold option key is only showing a locked symbol and password I don't remember
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy MBP 13" (summer 2009) has been getting slower and slower for a while. Finally yesterday it was just hanging on the spinning rainbow and completely unresponsive. I had to hold down the power button to restart, but even then it was frozen, no matter how many times I restarted. I had everything pretty much backed up, so I deleted my HD and did a clean reinstall of Lion.
Even that had hiccups: at first I was getting the error message that the HD couldn't be deleted because the disk couldn't be unmounted. Finally when booting from a Lion DVD I was able to delete and clean reinstall. All seemed well last night but today I am still noticing some problems. There is a few seconds delay when opening any new folder in Finder, opening a program from the Dock, or clicking on a menu item.
Sometimes the cursor gets frozen on an arrow or other special cursor, after mousing over a link or seemingly for no reason at all. When typing, I'm getting sporadic delays: three times while typing this message, the computer froze up for about 5 seconds, and then the text finally appeared. I'm also seeing similar delays in scrolling.
Sometimes scrolling works, sometimes I need to wait a few seconds for a webpage to become responsive. This is alarming to me considering that there is almost nothing installed on the computer except Lion and a few light programs (Evernote, OpenOffice). I haven't put anything back on the computer from the backup since the clean reinstall.

My MB Air is not booting (I get the ever gray Apple logo screen with the spinning wheel, and nothing happens) Following instructions I found online, I tried the disk utility repair disk and permissions and, apparently, there's nothing wrong. Still, the system won't boot!Â
I'm now trying to reinstall Mac OS X Lion, but the system requires about 0.5 GB of additional free disk space to install!Â
Is there anyway I can access the OS terminal screen (command line interface), so I may delete a few files, creating additional disk space?Â

After backing up my data and then swiping my hard drive using Disk Utility, my OS seems to have been uninstalled as well. Is there a way to recover the deleted information and go back to the last working configuration? I'm on a MBP IC2D 2.16 w/ Lion.

But it is failing telling me that my network is very slow while I used the best network in my area. How should I get an OS X lion to my CP? Is it possible to get it from another MacBook pro? I inadvertently deleted my OSX 10 Lion operating system on my Mac Mini -- tried redownloading it but continually received an automated response saying something like ".... unable to download the software, try again later"  That is not an exact quote but close. I tried several times to download the software but always received the same message. I did verify that WIFI was up and working properly on my separate laptop.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy MacBookPro with Lion installed was stolen 2 months ago. I by accidant erased Lion from the 'installed' list in the app store. So i try to rebuy or reïnstall Lion on a MacBook with enough memory to run it, but in the appstore it keeps on saying 'you already bought Lion so this updat is free, push OK to download'.An update is useless without Lion itself on the laptop, but how can I reUinstall it via appstore? Or is there an other possibility?

I have purchased and downloaded iMovie from the Mac App store. However now I'm getting an error everytime it launches: Â The QuickTime components necessary to view, edit, import, and export several kinds of movies are not installed. These components are included with the iMovie installer; re-install.Â
I'm happy to reinstall iMovie- but I got it from the app store. When I visit the iMovie page on the app store, it says "installed" and gives me NO options to re-install. Seems pretty short-sighted on Apple's part.
