OS X V10.7 Lion :: Reinstall It If Don't Have The Disc?
Jun 4, 2012
I am planning on wiping my hard drive and reinstalling OSX in order to sell my MacBook Pro.I have install discs for Snow Leopard and am running Lion, but would like to be able to offer Lion to the buyer. I would like to have Lion on the computer (I dont have the disc) and then have it such that when the buyer turns the computer on, they go through all the setup screens as if they were buying the computer new for the first time. I recently upgraded the internal disc in my MacBook Pro 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. I had a 320GB and put it a Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500GB. I didn't have the install disc and used the restore option in disk utility to copy files to the new drive before inserting it. It now works, but it's slow to load-up. How do I reinstall my OS, to optimise it? I've lost my original install disc and have since upgraded to Lion 10.7.4Â BTW - my new drive also has some strange noises and I'd like to replace this with a new one ASAP.

macbook came with 3 discs: apps/iLife, grey os x install, and snow leopard. I erased, etc from grey os x . Should I have used the snow leopard instead? or simply install snow leopard after the grey os x . the macbook is about one year old.

I have got my first mac (imac) so sorry if this is a really simple question. I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard but I am having bits of trouble with printing. As I have not yet got much data on my Mac I am thinking of going back to my original installation that came with the imac. I have backed up my data I want keep photos, music etc; onto DVD. When I put the installation disc in what is the best option to pick ? I do appreciate that I will have to re-install photoshop and other apps; I have installed. Will I have to re-configure my internet again? Basically I want to re-install the operating system I am also thinking of buying Superdupper any thoughts on this product.

Now, from what googling I've done, it seems the only way to fix this is a fresh install. Only one problem - it will not boot the install disc when I hold "C" at power up.
I've already done the reset (remove battery, hold power 5 sec) and also reset PRAM. Neither of these helped the system recognize the disc.

I just got a macbook from ebay. It didn't come with its original install discs. I know it's the latest white model before the aluminium updates- it has a 2.4ghz processor and 160GB. I want to re-install leopard on it and do an erase and install. Is it OK to use the leopard discs that came with my housemates imacs? Or will they be different in some way?

At some point in the past I must have uninstalled the Mac Address book (or it was lost in an upgrade). How can I re-install that single application from the install disc? I'm running 10.5.8 on a G5.

I accidently deleted some file on my computer that wouldn't let me start up my MacBook pro, 13 Inch, so I had to press Command- R at start up (brought me to Lion Recovery) and I choose reinstall lion and I started it yesterday morning and all day and over night. It's barely half way through and it says "148 Hours Left" which is crazy.. Should I just wait? is this normal? what do I do?

I inadvertently deleted my OSX 10 Lion operating system on my Mac Mini -- tried redownloading it but continually received an automated response saying something like ".... unable to download the software, try again later"  That is not an exact quote but close. I tried several times to download the software but always received the same message. I did verify that WIFI was up and working properly on my separate laptop.

My MacBookPro with Lion installed was stolen 2 months ago. I by accidant erased Lion from the 'installed' list in the app store. So i try to rebuy or reïnstall Lion on a MacBook with enough memory to run it, but in the appstore it keeps on saying 'you already bought Lion so this updat is free, push OK to download'.An update is useless without Lion itself on the laptop, but how can I reUinstall it via appstore? Or is there an other possibility?

I have purchased and downloaded iMovie from the Mac App store. However now I'm getting an error everytime it launches: Â The QuickTime components necessary to view, edit, import, and export several kinds of movies are not installed. These components are included with the iMovie installer; re-install.Â
I'm happy to reinstall iMovie- but I got it from the app store. When I visit the iMovie page on the app store, it says "installed" and gives me NO options to re-install. Seems pretty short-sighted on Apple's part.

I have a Macbook Pro OSX Lion. Iphoto and garageband was preinstalled. When I will update it, there is a dialogue box that appears "We could not complete your purchase, product distribution file could not be verified." So I put it in the trash and went to appstore to reinstall again, but it won't. I don't have those two apps for now.
