I reinstalled from a time machine backup and lost my backup partition plu some of my stuff seems to hang up now. my machine shipped with lion so i can get the internet reinstall i just dont want lose my apps and software

Ever since I upgraded to Lion, my imac loses its wifi connection when it sleeps.When i wake it up i have to always go up to the wifi icon on top right of screen and wait till it sees my network and then say connect.This never happened in snow leopard, seemed to stay connected.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter what started out as a simple question...why won't my iChat stay connected now that i have installed OS Lion and spending over 2 hours with Apple Phone support and trying all the known trouble shoots, they told me the only thing I can now do is Back Up my MacBook Pro and do a HD erase and reinstall everything. So, this has me a little freaked out! I have never done this and am afraid of the results. In particular, my 3rd party applications such as all my Adobe Suite applications. I no longer have access to the initial start up and install Creative Suite CDs! At first apple support said Time Machine WOULD NOT back up 3rd party apps. Then I get an email and said they were mistaken and it WILL with a link to an article. Yet I see nothing about it with in the article I was sent. SO, has anyone successfully reinstalled their Mac from a Time Machine Backup along with any 3rd party apps?
I could just go back to Snow Leopard since I had no issues with iChat using that OS. I was told I would have to do the same erasing of my HD either way to reinstall that OS.

I was restoring my MacBook pro to its factory setting by erasing the disk and reinstalling OS X lion via internet. But it is failing telling me that my network is very slow while I used the best network in my area. How should I get an OS X lion to my CP? Is it possible to get it from another MacBook pro? Every few minutes, I lose connection to the internet even though it says I'm still connected to my network. I have to turn Wi-Fi off and then on for it to start working again. It only works for a few minutes and sometimes hours, but then I have to turn Wi-Fi off and then on agian. It only happens on my MacBook.

I have an app called Teamviewer for both my iPhone and my iMac & I want to be able to have it running in the background of my iMac all the time so I can connect to it from my iPhone anytime I want. Otherwise I have to open the program to let it get connected to the web. I'd like for it to always be on without any notification of it being on like dock or taskbar menu. Here is what it looks like when it is up and running. The little grey window in the upper right corner is semi transparent when your mouse is not on it. I do have dock dodger installed so the app icon is not docked but I want both of the windows seen to be able to be gone and it still remain connected. Is this possible?

I restarted the MBA. holding command+R. It goes to the Recovery. I erased all of my Hard disc(ssd). I am using a wifi Internet. Then I clicked on the reinstall lion. It started downloading. The remaining time is 400 hours. I have a connection Problem, it goes off every 12 hours. The problem is: will it download the rest of the lion OS or it will start from the beginning when the connection of wifi goes off?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis seems really odd, I came back to my MBA and noticed all my apps had crashed. Now I cannot open a single 3rd party application, they either don't open or crash at launch.
Any ideas? I rebooted, repaired permissions but nothing I open that isn't made by apple works.
I have just synced 148 out of my total 225 apps to my new iPhone - and spent over an hour and a half sorting them out again in to my desired configuration! I am now concerned that my apps will be reinstalled and reconfigured again when I sync my music - forcing me to again spend the time sorting them out. Is this the case or will my apps stay where they are and unaffected? The message I am receiving is as follows;

My MacBook pro started to throw frequent program crashes. I cannot nail this down to a specific program. I've repaired permissions, checked RAM with remember, even re-installed using internet recovery.

Bought a used 2011 iMac. Wanted to wipe everything clean from previous user and install lion. After installing lion I went into the recovery mode by pressing apple r, then wiped the harddrive clean, and now am trying to reinstall lion over the internet. At first it was working fine, eta was 90 mins. When it got down to 4 mins it suddenly went back up to 90 mins and has been stuck there for 5 hours. The computer is not frozen since I can move the mouse and everything.

My Macbookpro was giving me a startup disk full message so I emptied out my photo library and itunes library to an external drive. By then I think the damage was done because I was still encountering the spinning color wheel all the time. On the advice of he Genius bar I reinstalled Lion. It worked well except for this one glitch. I can no longer drag and drop photos from the internet.

Some time in the last 2-3 weeks, it has started to getting into a state where the kernel_task is using 100% of one CPU constantly. When this happens, it also kills my Internet connection and I cannot use the browser, email, Skype, Twitter, etc. I have tried putting it to sleep, closing all programs that are open checked the process list with ps to see if I could find anything weird, but it still keeps happening.
I have to restart the computer whenever this happens. It might happen again in a couple of minutes or not for several hours, but happen it does. I thought it might be Chrome or Mail for a while, but it happened today when those were not running.

I've run into an unusual problem recently. I think it it related to two recent software installs.The problem only started after i installed the new application loader.
My issue : I'm unable to open application I downloaded from the web. I get the following error message below.

why does my imac lose internet connection after coming out of sleep mode and sometimes from power up. This is something that started about ten weeks ago.I have been all though road runner's diagnostics and etc. So now they insist that its with my imac.

I connect with my MacBook Pro via ethernet to the internet. So far, I've never had a problem until a couple of days, I keep on loosing the internet connect. When clicking through diagnostics, ISP, Internet and Server show first organge then turn red. If clicking through the diagnostics, sometimes I am lucky and it shows a message saying "Network configurations have chnaged", when I click ok, I'm online again. But very often nothing helps and I have to re-start the router again.

I previously had Lion installed and decided to wipe my Mac and re-upgrade to Lion. So, I've both zapped the parameter RAM and erased the hard drive, then done a fairly normal install of Snow Leopard. It successfully goes through this process, using my recovery disc, I get through Apple's initial "out-of-box experience" including setting up a user account, and get to the desktop.
There are no issues to this point, no errors, etc. However, having put in the bundled apps DVD, when I run the installer, I get the error:"There were errors with the installation. The installation failed. An unknown error occurred. The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."I have repeatedly gotten this error. I have both done a simple reformat of my HDD and a "write zeros" option.
Also, I have tried this before and after doing any software updates. I've also used the Apple Hardware Test which says there were no problems. Disk Utility shows S.M.A.R.T. status as verified, hard drive formatting takes a normal amount of time, and there are no other symptoms of any kind.The unit is stock, and there is nothing attached except for the AC adaptor.The only thing I haven't done yet is do the Lion upgrade, but honestly I shouldn't have to do that just to reinstall the bundled apps.

I know everyone who have macbook pro 5.4(Mid 2009, 2.53Ghz) trying 3rd party hdd(such as Segate and Western Digital Scorpio black) or SSD have a problems like 1. can't install SL or lion 2. occasional freezes every 7-8 seconds and etc. The last solution I saw on the other discussion forum was downgrading the EFI firmware from 1.7 to 1.6. Without downgrading EFI firmware to 1.6,I'm wondering if Hitachi Travelstar 5K750(5400rpm, SATA2) or 5K500.B(5400rpm, SATA2) or 7K500(7200rpm, SATA2) - any of this is going to work on my MBP 5.4. Does anyone with those Hitachi HDDs have a problem?

Just upgraded to Lion tonight. My HP Laser bluetooth Model N558 mouse which worked perfectly on the 17" macbook pro using Snow Leopard NOW will not pair with Mac. Downloaded the latest HP drivers, did a software update, restarted but mouse attemps to pair for about 1-2 seconds and then error message comes up saying the Mouce cannot pair with the Mac. Very frustrating and not finding any answers on MAC or HP forums. Error message on "select bluetooth device" says, "The device does not have the necessary services." It sure had the necessary services using Snow Leopard. Next error message, "The paring attempt was unsuccessful. The device is refusing the paring attempt..."
No matter what I have tried, new batteries, restarts, take out batteries for 10 minutes, holding down 'discover' button for 10 seconds. I've tried just about everything mentioned in the forums.

When I am logged into my user account on my macbook pro, all of my apps can no longer access the internet, safari, mail, skype etc etc I thought it was just Safari, so I deleted plist file, but it is all my apps that are not connecting. Safari gives error cannot connect to server.... It is not a network problem, wi-fi is connected fine. Other devices connected etc It was working fine last night, and now today nothing works The weird thing is that I can connect to internet using safari in my guest account (which I am doing right now!) Do I have some kind of virus?
