If I view a pure white image it looks like maybe 1/4" has a slight gradient. The darkness in the right corner is a little more prominent and extends maybe 1/2" Anyone else seeing this on their 11"?
View 8 RepliesMy Air's screen is slightly darker at the bottom (only on a few millimeters, but still). It only happens on a white/light background though (I don't have my dock at the bottom). In comparison, the screen of my MacBook has a very uniform backlight. Does anybody else have this issue?
View 2 Replies View Relatedlower third of the 13" new MBP, is darker than the rest. So when I am reading forums, the top starts off with white background, and the bottom is clearly a darker grey. This only is visible when setting the backlight to less than 75% max brightness. Normally I have it at half brightness. I am gonna be crazy with taking these things back. My big cheap Dell LCD and E6500 laptop have no where near the uniformity issues this Macbook has been having. Is this common or do I keep getting bad ones?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had so far been using it with screen brightness level set at 7 bars out of 16.But, since the past few days, I've noticed that 7 bars is too dark. I have to set the level at 9 or 10 bars to feel comfortable.Nothing else in the MBP settings or the environment have changed. I don't use any of the auto dimming features.I'm wondering whether it's the MBP or my eyes that are deteriorating.Has anyone experienced or heard of gradual dimming of MBP screens over time? Can anyone suggest causes for dimming?

However I noticed something strange. Both units had darker tint towards the edge of the screens. I know colour shift happens with TN panels, but not like this?

I tried to use some software to test the display. I found when the screen goes to completely dark with the backlight on, the bottom side of my screen is brighter than other parts.... have u guys met any problem like that, or is this some problem with my MBA?
Is it just me or the macbook air has a problem with backlight? it's very very bright compare to my mbp 13.3 but it seems like the left part of the screen receive a lot more light than the bottom right of the screen. I notice that on the mbp pro but its worse on the mba. I have a rev2 1.86 with a 9400. In this review (in spanish) they check the brightness levels on the screen, and there is a difference between center and bottom right corner (340cd/m2 vs 215cd/m2)
View 2 Replies View RelatedAt the beginning of last year I bought a 3.2GHz 27" iMac. About a month ago I noticed that, within about 5 minutes of starting my computer back up from sleep the left half of the screen would flick and become darker than the lower half (about 4 clicks of the light button lower). Sometimes the screen will flick to become even darker than this (but usually it returns to the 4 clicks darker after a short while), and sometimes it returns to normal only to go darker again.

I purchased the 2.26 13" MBP (4GB RAM) yesterday afternoon. When I came home, I set it up and started to notice a couple of streaks (.5" thick) on the right side and half of the bottom of the screen. I have a 9C9E screen and have it tested it on the Earth (centered) wallpaper with full brightness. It tends to go away after 40% brightness.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI did a search and could only find information about the last rendition of mbps, and I see they had problems with bleeding along the bottom part of the screen. I just got my umbp a week ago, but I've been so busy finding a place to live for grad school that I haven't had the chance to use it. I looked at it in the dark yesterday, and I'm super anal. I saw a small amount of backlight bleeding on the bottom left corner of the screen, perhaps half an inch on the left side of the screen, just in one area (not along the entire left side).I wish I could take a picture, but my digital camera is nowhere to be found. Is a small amount of backlight bleeding acceptable, or should I exchange for a new umbp?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just bought my white MacBook and its a great computer except for the 2 dead pixels that i found. On the left side there are 2-3 dead pixels about 1 inch from the bottom of the screen and 1 inch from the top.
I bought it from BestBuy this Sunday and only discovered the problem today. So my question is can they tell me that it is OK for an LCD to have 2-3 dead pixels and refuse to do anything with it? It is unacceptable in my opinion, as the LCD technologies have been out for a while, as well as Apple's products are usually of very high quality.

View 24 Replies View RelatedIt seems my MBA has developed some issues with the LCD, there is a noticeable dark patch on the bottom of the screen and it is really bugging me, normally little things like these I can get over with but seeing how much I paid for this laptop it is very disconcerting. Oh and also, when the screen is off and viewed under a sun/bright light, you can see waves / "ripples" of the LCD, is that supposed to be normal? Just wondering if Applecare will "care" about this issue.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a macbook air in my household (it is not my laptop, but i bought it for my wife) and I am having a couple of issues.
1) occasionally, hard to reproduce, it looks like some of the LEDs at the bottom of the screen are going out. they alternate in a very specific dark light pattern. This started up a couple weeks ago
2) now the keyboard has now become unusable as the number keys are permanently shifted into !@#$% instead of 12345. The keys are not sticky or anything, and there does not appear to be any liquid damage, but then again, i am not the primary user of this laptop so who really knows.
Does any of this sound like something covered under warranty? Are there any water damage indicators i can check to see if damage was caused by this?
Bought a Whitebook in August '08 and have noticed lately that the bottom of the screen (around the dock) is brighter than the rest. This extends to the top of the dock (which I have set at pretty small) but can be quite noticeable.
Has anyone heard of this or know any fixes? The screen has been calibrated but this isn't something that I could fix by re-calibrating.
I lost the document icon on the bottom of my screen. How can I get it back?

I bought my first MacBook Pro in April 2008. In 2010 I had a problem with MBP/Display, the logicboard problem which occurs with many MBP. As this was resloved with test and replacement of logicboard, it was good until last night
But since yesterday I've had to experience the Vertical Stripping, shadows at bottom of screen. I restarted the machine, I shut it down and this problem hasn't disappeared.
I did research online, checking the System profiler--->Graphics Displays--->PCIe Lane Width:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â x16--->GeForce 8600M GT
Nothing appears to be out of sorts, also I did a hardware test from start up and no hardware problems were found.Â
So what now? I'm using the MBP now as I type, I still have use of the machine but the vertical striping is not going away.Â

Our eMac seems to be developing a green tint in the bottom right hand corner of its screen. I've done some quick searching online and it seems that a few people have suggested a cold boot so it runs the degaussing process on a startup.
I left the eMac off for about an hour, unplugged. It did the degauss once it was plugged back in and "seems" to have removed nearly all of the green tint.
There are a few threads on various forums when I search on Google about this issue but they have no conclusive reasons why this is happening.
Could my eMac be developing a fault at all? I'm not too sure if anything magnetic has been placed on our table near the eMac so this may be the reason.
I just bought my macbook pro 13 inch about a 40 days ago and I have just noticed two small black dots on the on the bottom of the screen near the left side of my dock. I have done some research and they seem to be "dead pixels" They're really small but for the price I payed i didnt expect any problems. What are some suggestions to get rid of them or if i should contact tech support? Here are two pictures of the dots: They kinda change colour when i move my head around.. Not sure if theyre dead pixels or not.

The thing is that recently at random times throughout my day when I'm, using my Mac...my finger will be on the glass trackpad and i'll be doing something like say surfing the web or using w/e application...Well, randomly the mouse on the screen will disappear from its current location, say for example on Firefox's toolbar, immediately to the bottom of the screen. It's never the top of the screen, or the sides since it normally just causes the dock to rise up...
I'm really concerned to see what's going on here. I rarely had this problem with my old Whitebook, though admittedely did happen a few times.
Perhaps a water spill/damage? Though consider to have been very careful with my new Mac. I'm sure the glass trackpad on these new Macbook Pro's has water damage sensors right? Anyway I can see it/observe it myself.
I used to love taking apart my old whitebook but these new MBP's seem impossible; that or i'm just too scared since I do love how the machine was built.
my Mac started doing this a week ago. The bottom half of the screen flickers/flashes lines. If I leave it open on a flat surface and I touch the screen for a little bit, it'll go back to normal. When I close the laptop, put it in my case, and travel around with it, the next time I open it up it'll start flashing again. Â

I'm having some issues with my Macbook Pro that just arose today. Randomly, when I'm on Safari, the screen will flash a little and the icons at the bottom will disappear. They will come back in a couple seconds and pop-ups that I usually only get when I first log on will appear. Safari also refreshes the page I was viewing. I did a little research and thought the issue might be google drive, but I do not have it installed on my Mac.
