So I want to sell my Mac on ebay with many of the programs still installed.
If I delete the user account, will the programs be there for the new account?
If that is not the case, is there any other way rather than reinstalling everything after clearing the current user?
I'm selling my Macbook in the morning and was wondering how do I clear all my personal information and my iTunes account before he picks it up.I'm hopeing some one won't say use the install discs ?

For example on this website, gmail etc it already has my username and password already filled in. i tried to delete all content, browsing history, cookies etc through the Preferences>Privacy menu but with no success - the content is still there.

I've tried almost all the programs I found on the Apple site and none of them worked. Does anyone know of any?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI got my first Mac yesterday after years of crappy Window PCs....the lower end 15 Mac Pro. I had to get Office to make it compatible with PCs otherwise I would have got iWork. I also use Firefox as my web browser. and i know i dont need antivirus but i would like some type of protection. so my question is: what free programs would protect you against privacy and personal issues such as data or spyware? And against Microsoft Office viruses that it brings in? And I know people don't like Java and you should block it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am interested in developing a database at work (a medical research laboratory), and was wondering if anyone could suggest a decent database program. We currently have the following computers in the lab:
- Power Mac G4 running Jaguar (could upgrade to Tiger if need be)
- Power Mac G5 running Tiger
- Power Mac G5 running Leopard
- Mac Pro Quad Core Intel Xeon running Leopard
It would be extremely useful if the database program could sync databases, such that changes that one user makes on the database is transmitted to the other Macs (if so, we would require a server? Could we just convert one of the macs over to being a server? which one would be best?).
Specifically, if the database could be extremely user friendly, that would be great. Its just for keeping track of what reagents we have, what protocols we have, what cell lines we have, etc. etc.
My activity monitor says I'm suing 122.43 GB of virtual memory. I'm sure that the number is much, much less. But I would still like to reset the virtual memory.
Are there any terminal commands to rest the vm?
The Mini Has Some Great Software On it, Could i Use Migration Assistant To Transfer The Programs To My iMac Without Losing My Data On My iMac? Or is There Any Other Way?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a question about using my new samsung tv as a monitor for my macbook. I have all the cables and such and my TV reads the computer. It actually shows the desktop background, mouse, and the toolbar on the tv...
BUT....when i try and open a program such as safari or itunes it does not display the program on the monitor but rather on my macbook screen. It shows the program open on the tv monitor but it shoots off the screen and then opens on the macbook screen.
Also the mouse disappears from the tv monitor screen on the left side only, and when it does it becomes visible back on the macbook screen! Any tips or suggestions on how to get the programs to show up on the monitor instead of the macbook screen?
I have a EMac with Mac OS X vs 10.3.9 Prior user erased hard drive. Took to ADR data recovery and they scanned the hard drive and were unable to recover any data. Looking for input on other techniques to recover data from hard drive or other companies that specialize in Mac data recovery.

I have been told that they have replaced my hard drive but could not get any data off the old one. I have now lost all my data, photos, files, music etc. NO backups, only simply because i did not know how to do them. Is there any way of getting the files back? View 3 Replies View RelatedSo, I'm trying to recover some lost files. I put it on Data recovery 3. Everything went fine until the power in my house went out, stopping the entire process. NOW when I try to run the process, it just stalls at 33,3%, with no indication of how much time left...
Need some help here. My friend is a DJ and had an external drive with tens of thousands of songs on it. The plug broke on it and I think that corrupted it since Eject was not used. I pulled the 3.5in HDD out of the case and hooked up up with some other external plugs I have.
When I run Data Rescue 3 on it, it shows that it sees almost all of these and the only two formats it counts up are mpeg and mp3s. Data Rescue then finishes the scan and has a bunch of crap files that are not needed, but none of the songs show up. What is going on here? Did I miss something in Data Rescue 3.
The drive is a 1TB drive and the backup drive we are using is 640GB, but there was only about 250GB of music on the drive to begin with.
Is there a command to clear the terminal screen that works like 'cls' on Windows? I know about 'clear', but clear just moves the prompt on the top of the screen, leaving the previous output visible if I scroll up.
A friend suggested 'clear_console' (I think he's on debian) but I can't find it on OS X or MacPorts.
Is there any weekly maintenance like clearing temporary internet files i need to do? I'm used to windows and new to macs.

View 5 Replies View Related this is going to sound silly and I hope I can explain it correctly, but when you click on the Macintosh HD icon and the window opens up, there is a list on the left side of the window. Down towards the bottom of this list, there is a folder titled: "Search For". Is there any way of clearing the Today, Yesterday, Past Week, All Images, All Movies and All Documents folders without actually deleting the files from my Mac?
I recently upgraded to OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.1 and now Onyx does not work for me.
I used to have a Macbook, but after two years the hard drive crash, I now have a pro. After getting the files that I needed back I went into my external hard drive that my old macbook backed up onto and tried to delete all of the old back ups so I could make room for my new computer to use. After deleting it one file is left in my trash can. It is an old back up from August and the file name ends with .inProgress.
I assume that I must have disconnected my computer or something while it was backing up, but now when I try to clear the trash it says "The operation can't be completed because the item "AGQ0qILU99QsKv" is in use." I have no idea what that item is, where it is because it doesnt show in the trash, or how to get rid of it. I have tried to secure empty trash and use a few terminal commands but nothing is working. Also it wont let me remove it from the trash. It just copies the file rather than moving it out.
