I was looking for a Safari Reader-like add-on for Firefox and finally stumbled on Firefox Reader, which seems to have more customizations, and options. Has anyone else tried it? What are your impressions?

This only just started happening, where every time I go to a new website, circles & plus signs & refresh signs pile up starting on the left, while the url address gets scrunched over to the right. The only way I found to fix it is to restart Safari.

This is probably very simple, but how can I remove the history that resides in Safari's address bar?
I guess I could "reset Safari", but then I'd lose all my cookies, and I don't want to do that.
I already emptied the cache, cleared history, restarted Safari, even turned on Private Browsing. The darn address bar history is still there.
New to the site, could someone explain to me how to clear safari top sites?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've just updated safari v5.1.7 and the clear history button does not reset the page. I use Ebay and when you go into an item the title goes to pink and usually clear history resets it to blue. But I've just done un update and now it's not working.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using the latest Safari 5.1.5 on my MBP with OSX Lion 10.7.3.I noted that when I click on Reader in the URL line, sometimes I can't get the function to work. That is, I don't get the uncluttered view with the print option.I can manage without the function as there are other print commands and I use Evernote as well. I just wondered if the Reader function gets disable sometimes. To be clear, I am not referring to the Reading List function.

After uninstalling pdf reader from adobe, I lost possiblitiy to opend pdf documents in safari. Usually, before installing adobe reader pdf documents opened nicely in Safari, with link to download or print a document. Now, all what opens is a gray page, without any content in it. When trying printing, I get blank page. Has anyone encountered this problem? How can I switch to old Safari behavior - native pdf reading ability, present in OSX?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSafari Reader: Apple's Weapon of Mass Destruction. Steve Jobs gave his usual keynote address at WWDC today. The iPhone took center stage, as expected. But there was another announcement that web publishers should take note of and should dread: Safari 5. The release of Safari 5 constitutes an absolutely vicious attack by Apple on web publishers. Specifically, the inclusion of a feature called 'Safari Reader' may ultimately prove financially devastating for many web publishers.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering why some websites when turned to the "Reader" option in Safari, some html characteristics are missing. One that I noticed was the <hr> tag that creates an horizontal line across an html page. Is that a normal thing for Reader to do? Can it be forced to display that somehow?

View 2 Replies View RelatedAt the moment I have removed Acrobat Reader 10.3.1 because it conflicts with Safari. Preview is a perfectly fine pdf reader (and with lots of very nice features) but I don't see how I can make Preview open a pdf from a web page until it has been downloaded to file. And I have found at least one site that will not download to file before opening.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI used to use Preview to view PDF files but found the files didn't display properly, in particular the annotations, so I installed Adobe Reader & the files displayed properly. Lately though the files have changed & open in Safari through a plugin, which doesn't display properly & don't give the option to open in Adobe Reader. I have deleted Adobe Reader & re-installed, but it is a long process to get it to open in Adobe Reader. How do I disable the plugins & get PDF files to open directly in Adobe Reader?

This is driving me crazy. I've just downloaded and reinstalled the latest Adobe Reader. But Safari is still acting up. I see the watch icon instead of my mouse when I click on a link to a PDF. Then I just see a white screen and I end up having to force quit Safari.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI signed up for a Gmail account about 2 or 3 weeks ago. I'm so impressed with it that I have made it my primary email account. My only problem comes when Iclick links from Safari or Adium where the link is an email address. I would LOVE for Safari to open to the compose mail link of my Gmail account in a new tab, because as it stands now this just opens Mail.app. (I know I could just manually navigate to the compose mail page of Gmail, but, that's just no fun). Is this extremely wishful thinking, or somehow possible?
