Anyone ever gotten a green screen? Last time I saw one, the logic board died. I'm hoping that's not what happened here.I was ripping some videos on my MacPro 1,1 (2006) when all of the sudden the computer crashed and the screen turned green. Now, everytime I restart it won't go past it.it's not the motherboard cuz that's an expensive fix!
View 4 RepliesOur eMac seems to be developing a green tint in the bottom right hand corner of its screen. I've done some quick searching online and it seems that a few people have suggested a cold boot so it runs the degaussing process on a startup.
I left the eMac off for about an hour, unplugged. It did the degauss once it was plugged back in and "seems" to have removed nearly all of the green tint.
There are a few threads on various forums when I search on Google about this issue but they have no conclusive reasons why this is happening.
Could my eMac be developing a fault at all? I'm not too sure if anything magnetic has been placed on our table near the eMac so this may be the reason.
I was turning on photobooth to take some pictures of my baby sleeping, and it gave me a green screen instead of an image.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe just upgraded to LION 10.7.4 and I'm noticing on a few of my Quicktime movies - when paused, the screen turns green? THAT'S never happened before. I'm sure it's an upgrade issue, when I go back to our clone from last week, it doesn't do that! We use QT Pro 7.66. on a MacBook Pro (about 1 1/2 years old) - always perfect results, but now this? No big deal, just a little annoying. It only does this on a few of the movies we've exported out of Final Cut Pro. Can't find the pattern?

The machine hung 3 times - it went to a gray screen with a light gray box about 5"X3" with a light colored power switch as a background, that says "You need to restart your computer. my macbook pro screen has two thin green lines running down the screen from top to bottom. i have run the apple hardware test and it has detected an error. unfortunately i am in a remote village for the next two months and unable to get my macbook to a repair centre. What the thin green lines indicate?, whether the error on the hard drive and the green lines are connected or something different? the lap top seems to be working fine however im concerned that as i cant get to a repair place for the next 2 months whether continued use will damage the computer further?

I had many pieces of video and edited them togeth and exported them to a file then reimported it into an iMovie event. I did the same with the background and combined them together. I did this once before and no trouble.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an early 2008 version of the 17" MacBook Pro. During the process of uploading photos to iPhoto, the screen froze and pink and green pixels appeared. I shut down by the off button and upon on turning it back on found the screen as shown below. The apple appears and then the clock spins for a moment then freezes. I cannot get any further.
I've tried booting in Safe Mode and other options I've read when trying to boot but to no avail.
Someone said I need to run the AHT but as this was purchased from a friend, I don't have the installation CD's. I've found a DMG file of the AHT but am completely at a loss as to what to do with this.
I own a MacPro1,1 that has a Geforce 7300 GT running on it. That video card comes with one Dual-Link DVI port, and anonther that is Single-Link. I just bought a Dell 30" 3008WFP monitor that has a max resolution of 2560x1900.
When I first connected, it worked great. I was getting the max res; life was good. Then I started getting this random green fuzzy screen that would come and go at whim. I couldn't reproduce it, and worse was I have not figured out a way to get rid of it. Early on, just unplugging and replugging in the cable worked. Then that stopped working. Rebooting stopped working. Once i was able to get the green to go away by powering down the display and powering it back up. Yes, totally random.
Here are some more facts:
1. Setting a lower resolution doesn't rid me of the green fuzz effect.
2. If i connect to the same monitor using the single-link DVI port, everything works great, but only reaches 1920X1600 (as expected).
3. Connecting to different monitor using the Dual-Link DVI port works fine, albeit that the other monitor has a lesser max resolution.
4. I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.3 and I have all my software updates in place.
5. I've attached a screenshot of what this looks like.
my iBook G3 900mhz now has a green tint that covers the screen. Everything else seems fine. Is this a video card problem? if so, does that involve replacing the mother board?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy A1226 is really giving me fits. It will display persistent vertical pink and green pixel column patterns in windows or over the entire screen at start up. I have twice performed the "PRAM Re-set" with Command-Option-P-R depressed with pwer on and that has worked. But tonight it came back and I had to do it a third time. Is this a potential or probable power/battery problem? I hope someone here is familiar with this!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI own a 17" g5 imac and today I was just browsing on Firefox and all of a sudden the screen became checkered with thin pink and white lines. It is most noticeable on the menu bar and anything that is grey or white in color. It is not checkered on the blue background behind my desktop photo. I have an external monitor plugged in as well and the same thing is happening to that monitor.

I have a first generation macbook pro, recently i have been getting neon green and purple blotches appearing on my screen. I was also having a hard drive problem so i swapped that out and installed a fresh copy of OSX 10.4 on there and was still having the green and purple show up so I know that it is hardware related. I also have hooked up an external monitor and they show up on that monitor too so I konw the problem is not related to my monitor.. I downloaded fan control and have found that if I keep my macbook under 53 degrees C then They wont show up nearly as often but they still do. The only problem with this is that to keep it under 53 degrees C then I need to have the fans running extremely fast the entire time which is not really solving the problem...any suggestions?
It kinda looks to me like I need to get the logic board replaced, what does that entail.. can I do it myself? im pretty good with computers and electronics. I don't have apple care and the warrenty has definelty been voided or is expired..what kind of $$ am I looking at?

Suddenly yesterday when I powered mi iMac I had some horizontal green bars on the startup screen then it powered normally. But it happened two times, now every time I power on my iMac the screen stay black, and i can use my computer, everything else is working normally (i still can use Alfred to turn off my computer).
I already tried resetting the Command+Option+P+R, it didn't work. Also the Safe mode.
I have a mid-2011 27' iMac. EMC 2429.
My tibook .867Ghz was working fine this morning, but now when I restarted it this afternoon, the colors are all off (lots of green and rapidly vibrating pixels in background). The computer works, I can run programs and so forth. There are no changes to the displays settings, still 1280x854 and colors "millions". When I switch to thousand or 256 colors there is no significant change.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis may have been posted earlier, so sorry is this is a repeat. I've had this PowerBook since the first 17" versions came out in early 2003 and it has worked wonderfully. It even came adrift on a bicycle one day (strap broke with a brand new sleeve bag) it skidded down the road and bashed into the curb... still kept working.... other than a couple of dents and a lid that never closed again quite so well, it has been a fab machine.
Anyway, a few months ago the screen started occasionally going a green/blue tinge, almost like very fine stripes down the screen. A wriggle of the screen seemed to fix it, but it has now become quite bad, and stays like that for most of the time. I figure it must be the connection to the screen from the system, as when using the laptop for presentations (connected to a projector) all is good.
So my question is, does anyone know a easy fix? I heard that the wiring is built in, and needs the screen replacing, which doesn't make sense given it's nearly 5 years old.
Woke up today and my 13" white macbook (purchased last august) has a green line in the right quarter of the screen. bright green and thin. only doesn't show on white. runs the length of the screen - starts at the battery indicator all the way through the bottom.

View 1 Replies View RelatedNew iMac at first of year has always locked up with green squares (1/4") randomly on the open window. I have to do a hard boot to unlock the screen. This may happen 5 or 6 times a day but I'm finding no pattern. It happens in any software, mail, internet browser, extra programs and only using what I need at the moment, including mail and internet, hasn't worked. I've run disk utility - repair disk and repair permissions multiple times to no avail. I've reinstalled the OS Mavericks and Adobe Creative Suite programs (Photoshop & Premiere Pro), no improvement.
