after deleting several GB of iMovie clips and events, the activity monitor tells me there is no gain in free space.
Before I installed Lion, I got the space back.

I have recently started learning to how to use FCE. I've got quite far with my first project and am at the point where I want to move some clips around the timeline. I do want to move clips inbetween other clips, rearranging their order, not deleting them. But whenever I drag a clip to fit splice in between two other clips, it just deletes whats underneath.

Going back to iMovie 6.0.4 was definitely the right thing to do. Adding Flip4Mac Pro solved all my file importing problems. Now, can I delete 8.0? Or does 6.0 share some files with it and will I have a problem if 8.0 is deleted? I also have to say that, the more I use my iMac, the better I like it. There are so many standard features in OSX Leopard that I am finding new tricks every day.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently got rid of a partition I had made for bootcamp since I never use it, and would rather have the space back. I deleted the partition through disc utility, and then through the partition tab, tried to get back that space by dragging down the tab to restore the space originally set for the partition. When I go to apply this change, it notifies that my hard drive will be re-sized. I accept and then a few minutes later it comes back with the error "Partition failed with the error: Filesystem verify or repair failed" Does anybody know how I can restore this space successfully back into my main hard drive? I've attached some screenshots

Just as the thread title says, since updating to iPhoto '11, my event folders are not displayed in the right order according to the date the pictures were taken. Anybody else have this problem?

However, recently I imported some of these such pictures off of an old computer. While they are labeled with the right days, iPhoto seems to be listing events in the order they were imported in. Thus, I have pictures taken in 2003 next to my Christmas pictures from this year. I'd rather just have everything in chronological order, by date taken. Is there a way to do this?

I can go into the library, show package contents and delete the clips there, but will that upset the library. And is there a way to delete just the parts of the clips that are unused? So If I have a 30s clip, have used 5s and want to delete the rest of the clip around the 5s, is that possible? Trying to recover some drive space to save buying a new media drive....
View 6 Replies View RelatedWe (the wife and I) both use our iphones to enter events on our calendar. We've set it up so that it should sync with mobile me (thus updating our mac and iphones). The problem is that things are getting deleted A lot! When I open ical on my mac, there are at least 20 "calendars" in the far left column (I didn't know we were creating a "new" calendar every time we used a new color for an event). Anytime we plug our iphones in the ical comes up saying that there are duplicates that need to be resolved. I hit ok. I thought I was doing the right thing.

There are no accounts set up to sync with this machine and there haven't been any since the machine was purchased. Steps I have tried: Repairing disk permissions/deleting cacheResetting sync history (I know that's kind of dumb since it's not synching with anything but I'll try anything once. Deleting the calendars and reimporting them
Additional Info: She was initially on a Tiger machine. We exported the calendars from that machine and imported them into another machine running snow leaopard. A few days later we exported from that machine onto her new machine running lion. Not sure if the file could have gotten corrupted during that process.

I've been having an issue with the latest iMovie and it's Trailers feature. When I've added the clips and play it through, after the majority of clips there's a slight pause before the transition to the next clip. It's noticeable and annoying.
I've tried with clips from various sources and resolutions but it doesn't seem yo make any difference.
If I switch clips around and keep playing and switching, it'll eventually play with no problems.
Has anyone else bad this problem.
How can I take 2 clips one with a women talking about her father and the other one is a shot with her and her father and I want to make one clip with the sound of the women talking and to see the women and her father. In imovie 09 it cab be done?
View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently I decided it'd be fun to put together a movie and while I've slowly been getting used to IMovie HD (first time using it 'properly'), I still haven't been able to "master" it yet. I was wondering whether it's possible to resize some of the clips I have? Some of the clips are different sizes and my intention is to publish the movie on something like YouTube or similar. I don't know if YouTube does this automatically? I don't remember it like that.
I don't want to have varying sizes of the clips when I send it to my friends, either, so. Can I resize the clips so they're all the same size? Can I do that in iMovie HD, or anything else on my Mac? Or do I have to download another piece of software to do this? Also, I'm not looking to spend any money on a professional editing program so please bear that in mind. The movies are in Quicktime MPEG-4 format if that's helpful.
I want to import some clips into iMovie (not from a camera, but a file) and it just won't work! The programme goes through all the steps, but in the end there is no file in iMovie; it just says 'No matching video'. I've checked the folder where clips should go (movie events --> eventx) and the clips have been moved to there, so why won't it show up in iMovie? It's driving me mad! Do the clips have to be a certain length (i remember that in iMovie 04 they had to be under 9minutes) or do they have to be a certain format? [I've been using .avi files.]

When making movies every time you pause the video camera it creates a different clip. If you pause it 15 times at the same event you download 15 clips which in turn you have to create a button for each clip in I- DVD. I would like to combine some of them to somewhat fewer.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using a rather old version of iMovie (iMovie 3, actually) and this old dinosaur is having trouble uploading some clips I took of my screen using the trial version of Screen Record 2. I used it once before (Same program, same file format and everything!) and it worked fine, but now all of the sudden it won't accept the files.

However, when I click "Show In Finder" on these clips that have no audio and play them in Quicktime, they have audio! So then I re-imported these videos into iMovie, and it worked! They had sound! Is this really what I'm going have to do every time I try to import my videos from my camera? Import, show in finder, RE-import?

Then a window pops up and I press record, then it records the tape. However, once it makes a new event for it, and sometimes it imports under 2003! And I can't put it under the correct year!
