Mac Pro :: Change Where The Login Option Appears On Multiple Screens?
Apr 2, 2012
I have multiple screens on my Mac Pro. A normal screen, a projector and a USB-to-DVI converter. When I log in the login screen appears on either the projector or the converter screens. Not on the normal screen. I need to drag the cables out for the login to enter on the normal screen. The normal screen is set to the primary screen so thats not the problem.
I have a my iMac set to require login after it sits idle for a period of time. When I return and move the mouse or hit a button on the keyboard the login screen is simply black with the login field in the center. Q: Is there a way to change the color or set a background image for this screen? It is not the same screen that appears if I log out...the one with the gray linen with Apple logo. It is just plain black.
On my macbook pro, when I'm on my home screen I can use my tracking pad to flip my screen to a screen that displays all of my widgets. Is it possible to flip to a third display screen to place documents on?
Someone accessed my computer, and did something to enlarge the screen print size, which I do not want. It's not the Zoom function, since that was and is Off, and this problem does not respond to my dickering in the Zoom area.
I just upgraded an e Mac 2.0 from OSX 10.4 to 10.5. When the Mac boots to the login screen, only "Other" appears for login and not the computer admin I had listed. I've tried typing in the computer admin's name and password, with no good results. I booted with the install DVD, changed the password of the computer admin, and still cannot login successfully.
I set her password and set the preferences to require a password to log in.Now, if she's not at the computer a while the screensaver kicks on, and after 30 minutes it kicks the logged in profile back out to the login screen. The problem is the screensaver never resumes?Even if I set the S.C to 3 minutes, manually log out to the login screen it'll sit there and show that (never go to screensaver or powersave mode for the monitor).
I run windows 7 and MacOSx on my Macbook pro. I use bootcamp to switch to Mac OSx. I never had prooblems over the last 12 months in switching between the two but recently when I try to boot OSx, the apple screen comes and stays there forever without going to the login screen. I have been having some problems with Windows lately as well with auto restarts.
Each time I open Safari on my MacBook Pro, a window appears asking me to enter my Login password. I do this, and everything works fine. But I do not understand why Safari asks me to enter my Login password. How do I turn this "feature" off?
So I had one admin user, then I added a second one. I deleted the second one because I didn't need it. Now every time I restart even though there's only one user I have to keep entering my password. How can I make it restart like it used to without needing any login and it just starts to the desktop?
I have previously set my mac so a login name and password are required on start up. I have just done this on my new mac, but for some reason it is not appearing at start up.
When I turn on my computer, it shows that a guest could get onto the internet without a password. I don't want this to happen. I tried disabling the guest account from the settings but it still shows up.
Just bought mac-air last week. When I start it got freeze on first screen where i can see my username logo and "guest user" logo. and can't click on both options .
Newly installed osx lion 10.7.4the guest user on the login screen disappeared after fresh installation of osx, and an option "Disable restarting to Safari when screen is locked" on "security & privacy" on preferences panel disappeared as well, its so strange!

I have the first generation of the silver macbook (with the black keyboard- before it went to macbook pro). I have been watching movies from my computer onto my TV via a HDMI cable. For a while now I have been trying to get the sound from my computer to go onto my TV, but I do not have the option of HDMI on my computer.
I just installed Snow Leopard and the Modifier Key option no longer works. i.e. I can't switch the CTRL and COMMAND keys. The option dialog still pops up, but the keys don't actually switch. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a work around or a preference file I can change manually?
I don't know why but, I cannot change the option of scroll bar in General, System Preferences. Every time I turned it to "Automatically based on mouse or trackpad", it always changes back to "Always" the next time I launch the System Preferences.

Is it possible to change the display preferences (e.g., Fit to Screen, Fill Screen, Center) for the log-in desktop picture? If so, how can this be changed?
I would like to know how to change background on login screen so when you turn on your mac you have the osx one i want to know if that can to changed to what ever i want?
I am new to apple, just purchased an iMac off craigslist, and have a personalization question. I was able to change the user name and all that info just fine but when my computer first turns on and I am prompted to log in the previous owner has a text below the apple icon that I would like to change. Right now it says "Daves ********** iMac" well my name is not Dave and I don't care to have that on there every time i go to log in. I have done a lot of searching and found where I can "change login text" but that is for one of the texts, not the one I am trying to figure out.. here is a sample picture, the text I have circled in red is the text I am trying to change, the text saying macbook pro is the only text I have successfully changed. (This is just a picture I got off the inter-web, not my actual login)
So there was a power outage in my house while I was using my iMac, so it switched off. Now that I have power, when I try to turn my iMac on, nothing happens. I've made sure it's plugged in properly, and still no luck. What's wrong with it? Do i need to take it to an Apple store?
