I run windows 7 and MacOSx on my Macbook pro. I use bootcamp to switch to Mac OSx. I never had prooblems over the last 12 months in switching between the two but recently when I try to boot OSx, the apple screen comes and stays there forever without going to the login screen. I have been having some problems with Windows lately as well with auto restarts.
View 3 RepliesI set her password and set the preferences to require a password to log in.Now, if she's not at the computer a while the screensaver kicks on, and after 30 minutes it kicks the logged in profile back out to the login screen. The problem is the screensaver never resumes?Even if I set the S.C to 3 minutes, manually log out to the login screen it'll sit there and show that (never go to screensaver or powersave mode for the monitor).
View 8 Replies View RelatedEverytime I open a page, an advertisement for Mackeeper appears on my screen. I also get a lot of other advertising (cinechest for example).
Besides that my computer underlined random words. When I click it, I get another ad on my screen again.
It seems like a virus or something like that, and it is very disturbing.
What should I do to prevent that in future?

I have a my iMac set to require login after it sits idle for a period of time. When I return and move the mouse or hit a button on the keyboard the login screen is simply black with the login field in the center. Q: Is there a way to change the color or set a background image for this screen? It is not the same screen that appears if I log out...the one with the gray linen with Apple logo. It is just plain black.

I have a the 1st generation Macbook Pro. It has been working fine up until last night it would not load the login screen. It would show a checkerboard screen at the login view and other times it would show the login screen all streched out wit the checkerboard on top of it. I have tried fsck-ing, removing the PRAM. I then booted in Safe Mode (which worked fine) and attempted to repair disk permissions through Disk Utility and it seemed like there were a lot of errors in the Java part. I attempted to boot up the Mac OS Install disk (Snow Leopard) but the same checkerboard screen from the login popped up.

Anyone know why id get a new login appear called "Other..."
When i click on it it asks me to complete name AND password ... which i dont know ofcourse.
When i check the Mac HD Users there is no "Other..." user data etc.
The only thing ive been messing with is public folder names and i havent been to any dodgy sites etc.
Is there a simple explanation and fix for this?
After my Yosemite upgrade, Safari has become very unstable. Constantly shutting down current screen(s) and or just sitting there loading a page until I get a "Safari Cannot Load Page" error due to servers not being found. Even on the Apple website this happens. Very frustrating when doing online banking and all info is lost when you have this issue happening upon an entry.

I Was having some trouble a few days ago with my computer running slow with basic tasks, would give me the rainbow spinner frequently. I have a feeling it might be because of some music I downloaded from a torrent website (?) so i decided to do a hard shut down a few days ago by holding the power button down and left it alone until today, where it asked me to log in and then had the pop up that said something like "your computer was shut down unexpectedly, would you like to open all the apps you had running" or something along those lines and I hit cancel instead of yes because i wanted the computer to start new with nothing open. Well after I hit cancel and logged in with my administrator password, it will not load my computer past the log in screen and just has me stuck on that screen with the rainbow spinner. Not sure what to do, I'm afraid of repeatedly doing hard shut downs. Not sure if I have a virus from the songs I downloaded but I don't think I'll be downloading anymore.

I just upgraded an e Mac 2.0 from OSX 10.4 to 10.5. When the Mac boots to the login screen,only "Other" appears for login and not the computer admin I had listed. I've tried typing in the computer admin's name and password, with no good results. I booted with the install DVD, changed the password of the computer admin, and still cannot login successfully.

A normal screen, a projector and a USB-to-DVI converter.When I log in the login screen appears on either the projector or the converter screens. Not on the normal screen. I need to drag the cables out for the login to enter on the normal screen. The normal screen is set to the primary screen so thats not the problem.

I can't get Safari to load any pages whatsoever on my bootcamp partition running Windows 7. Firefox and IE9 work fine. I've uninstalled Safari and downloaded a fresh copy and still nothing. I can open Safari and change settings etc but no page will load. I've disabled both Windows Firewall and Avast shields and still nothing. I don't understand why other browsers will work but Safari won't.

I have an issue with safari pages not loading or hanging up while loading. I have found a temporary fix of turning the wireless off and then back on. I have the same problem with firefox, but not as often.

I've returned from work and Safari wont load (kids may have done something, they say not).
Home page wont load just a white blank page then the error message the application Safari quite unexpectedly Mac OS X and other apps are not affected.
It doesn't matter if I relaunch, report or close / restart it happens again. I don't have Firefox any more so I cant try that.
When I open itunes, the main page will not load. I can see the 'Quick Links' and 'Top Charts' on the side but the main center part wont appear. When I click on 'see all' singles under the 'top charts' the songs all come up but the preview button doesn't appear and I cant do anything.

When I go through the Apple Store ordering process, the body of the 'configure' page won't load. I get the header and footer, but no actual way to add more ram, bigger HD, applecare, etc, and proceed to place an order. Just a big empty space.
This is only happening on my Mac Pro in safari. It works fine on firefox, and on safari in my MBP. I've tried the usual basics, restart, repair permissions, reset safari, download and reinstall.... but I still can't get the page to show properly.

my youtube age won't load properly, it takes forever to load the page but when it does it doesn't load to the end it's just stops at a bunch of writing and that's it? i have tried everything from clearing the cache,history and cookies to uninstalling the adobe player and installing it again. Nothing works. However funny enough if i connect to another wifi it works just fine. But i know that the router/wifi isn't the problem because my sister has an sony laptop and her youtube is just fine. Also on my phone youtube doesn't work neither it just says playback error, but then again on my sister's galaxy phone it works.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had problems for a while with Safari sporadically not loading images on some web pages. The problem was so irritating that I ditched it in favour of Camino.
Now Safari 4 is out, I'm trying to move back, but the problem is still there.
It typically happens when viewing a page containing lots of images. Here are two I have recurring problems with:

A bit of Googling shows I'm not alone, but there doesn't seem to be any proper explanation of the problem or a solution out there. Clearing the cache solves the problem temporarily, but it quickly returns and there's no rhyme or reason to what will or won't load. I've also tried resetting Safari and deleting the prefs file (which I guess do the same thing).
A few months ago I was persuaded to set-up a "Linkedin" account which I did. To begin with it seemed to be working fine and I steadly started to build up my profile.
But in the past month, whenever I log in, the site just hangs. I either get a blank white page or the browser just never finishes downloading the page.
I've tried Safari 3, Safari 4 Beta, Firefox, Camino and Opera web browsers. I've also fired up Parallels desktop and tried accessing the site through Internet Explorer 7 and the PC versions of Chrome and Firefox. Again, I can't get beyond my Linkedin homepage before the site freezes on me.
I've tried accessing the site on my new iMac, and eMac and iBook on the same network.
I'm using an Airport Extreme base station (UFO type) which is configured to use Open DNS.
I do not have this problem with any other websites and I've done all the basic stuff like deleting cookies, resetting Safari, fixing disk permissions etc. to no avail. Other people I've spoken to (other Mac users) don't seem to have the same problem I do.
Under normal circumstance I would have contacted Linkedin to request technical support, but alas, the contact page wont load!
I've got safari 4 on 3 different mac's all running leopard with latest updates.
When browsing the web randomly it decides to take ages loading a page even sites like google. To make it load I have to stop it then press refresh.
I've tried unticking the fraudulent sites box and repairing permissions in disk utility, but i still get the same problem on all 3 mac's.
All of a sudden every one of my browsers has problems browsing sites, particularly with web-apps. My primary browser has been chrome, with safari as secondary. The problem manifests in Chrome as pages that fail to load. Examples would be gmail and some torrent sites. Other times, I get onto the sites, but when I use a search function, it stops and fails. I've also tried safari (tries for a bit then crashes), firefox (refuses to start now) and Opera. Opera seems to work, somewhat at least.
I've already tried some things - thought it was a plugin problem since it affected all of the browsers so I basically deleted every one I could find and got fresh versions. No dice. In fact, when I throw out the latest Flash plugin, it seems to improve things, then I run into sites requiring flash, so I get it and things stop working. Tried repairing permissions on the hard drive - brings up a bunch of corrections all concerning flash. Tried deleting every browser and installing a fresh copy - no dice either.
Finally tried installing Snow Leopard again - not completely fresh, did preserve my profiles and files and just set up the OS. Since this seems also to affect stuff like taking a time-machine backup. Tried 3x to take a backup, and it stops after 2-3 gigs and becomes really really slow. Also, the whole OS seems to slow down - freezing at times - when I have the browsers going.
