I just watched Tekzilla this week and saw how they posted hacks/fixes for people having their computer connected to HDTV. I know how to fix this in Windows but not sure how I can fix this in Apple. Hope someone has a similar fix. I currently have a Sharp 26in 1080i.
View 5 RepliesI have recently gotten really into productivity hacks - maximising your workflow, etc. I cleared out my status bar, and now I am wondering about the dock.Currently, I have only 3 default apps. Finder, Chrome, and iTunes. On the other side of the separator I have a Documents folder, a Downloads stack, and the recycle bin.
I took out the apps from the dock and the apps stack because I reasoned that it would be just as easy and quick, when launching an app, to cmd+space and type the first few letters. What are your opinions? Do you have your dock with a bunch of apps? Or just the essentials?
Yes you guessed it, it's about the small air. I wish there was a hack to let you have the safari 4 beta tabs on top a la (the otherwise unremarkable) chrome. I can't find one though...

On the laptop the video is working witouth problem but when I watch it on the television, the pictures stops working sometimes and hacks a lot. I talked to apple customer support, they told me it's something with the settings in the computer but they wanted me to pay.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running a MacPro 1.1 with a 7300GT. I have two 24" monitor plugged on each DVI output of the card. Eveything worked well in leopard. I tried Snow leopard with the same setup, and there is no way to have both monitor working. No signals reaches the second screen. Worst, once boot... If I run the "screen detection", both DVI signals are stopped. SL seems the both screen, I can see them in the system configuration. Both are stated as "connected", I can even "move" windows on the second screen but of course this is useless cause there is no signal. Anyone here having the same problem ? any idea to fix it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just bought a 4870 for my Mac Pro 1,1. Is there any advantage to keeping the 7300 GT in there, or disadvantage? It does give me a few more DVI outs if I add a third monitor, I guess. What about Aperture or other apps that use the video card - my guess is that it doesn't add anything, but I don't know.

However, I am heading to Apple Store Friday afternoon to find out what I can do to get that refreshed one. (I waited 7 month, until the last day of the presentation)So, to people with 320m graphics, are there any big difference? Does the battery lasts longer?
I initially backed up to the Firewire drive (140GB at a rate of about 1.2GB per minute and all was well.In Snow Leopard i noticed that without any hacks it also has the option to backup to a network drive. I have a QNAP NAS and also an Airport Extreme Basestation. As the QNAP doesnt support HFS i thought i'll just plug my drive into the Basestation even though i heard it wasn't the fastest thing to use..Anyway, to cut a long story short, i open time machine, re-select my time machine drive as the location has changed from being firewire to being attached the Basestation and time machine then says ' analysing changed files' or whatever that similar message is, then it says copying 0.1MB of 143Gb .....i stop it, go and check the drive and it has deleted the whole lot and is trying to start again!? WTF??It didn't format the drive as other data is still on that disk. Kinda loses my confidence in it when it will happily delete 143GB without even asking me

The machine is fully updated with 10.5.2 and all other updates, but there is no "transparent menu bar" checkbox in the Desktop/Screensaver preference pane. I took screengrabs of each machine, the first is the imac (alu 2.4) with the ATI HD2600, the second is the Mac Pro with the 7300gt. Anyone know what gives with this?
View 15 Replies View RelatedMy Mac Pro 1,1 (two dual-core 3Ghz) has begun to have a blue screen flick on intermittently for a second or two. Sometimes the blue screen may not happen for over an hour and then it may happen a few times in a few minutes. I did a Safe Boot and reset the pram but there was no change. I was going to run Apple Hardware Test but after some Google searching it seems that Hardware Test probably won't spot the problem if it is the 7300GT video card I have in the machine - which is what I suspect is the problem. Based on doing a search of this forum and a Google search, it seems like the cheapest replacement I can get for the 7300GT is the ATI Radeon HD2600XT. (I don't do anything that needs a higher "power" video card.) Does anyone know if either one or both of these cards will work in my Mac Pro: [URL:...] If not, what cheap video card might you recommend for my Mac Pro 1,1 and where might be a good place to obtain it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am going to college this year to study Graphic Design and i am looking to purchase a MBP 15". I have read a couple of other threads which cover similar questions however i am not truly satisfied with the answers i have read.
My MBP will have to run the following programs on a regular basis: Photoshop, Bridge, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash. It will also have to run basic tasks such as word processing, internet surfing and email. Finally i would also like to install parallels and XP on the machine just in case an work or applications need to be run on windows. Obviously all of these applications will not be running simultaneously however there is a strong chance 2 or 3 maybe running at the same time. My Imac deals with this without problems, will the MBP be the same?
I am looking to buy a second graphics card as I now have a third monitor. Will all of the above cards work with an existing 8800GT?

However, it was the virus scan mode for a PC, complete with all the PC icons and even box. I clicked out of it, because I didn't want to chance opening anything bad. I did some research, and everything I found said there shouldn't be any viruses for macs. I just want to be extra safe, is there anything I can do to check for viruses?

Has anyone successfully set up scan to smb to mac os 10.7.x from a Konica Minolta bizhub. I'm using 10.7.3 on MacBook Pro. Don't care what model bizhub is being used as I have access to many. I've seen the posts for FTP workarounds but want to use SMB if that is an option.
