I am looking too use Photoshop CS4 and was wondering if it is worth the upgrade to NVIDIA GeForce 9400M + 9600M GT with 256MB or should I just stick with the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M.I am not able too spend any more than the 1999.00 price point so these are my only two options. I need the portability of a laptop otherwise I would go with the iMac. I am sorry if this has been asked before,

I'm running a MacPro 1.1 with a 7300GT. I have two 24" monitor plugged on each DVI output of the card. Eveything worked well in leopard. I tried Snow leopard with the same setup, and there is no way to have both monitor working. No signals reaches the second screen. Worst, once boot... If I run the "screen detection", both DVI signals are stopped. SL seems the both screen, I can see them in the system configuration. Both are stated as "connected", I can even "move" windows on the second screen but of course this is useless cause there is no signal. Anyone here having the same problem ? any idea to fix it?

I just bought a 4870 for my Mac Pro 1,1. Is there any advantage to keeping the 7300 GT in there, or disadvantage? It does give me a few more DVI outs if I add a third monitor, I guess. What about Aperture or other apps that use the video card - my guess is that it doesn't add anything, but I don't know.

I have a 2006 Mac Pro with the 7300gt card. The machine is fully updated with 10.5.2 and all other updates, but there is no "transparent menu bar" checkbox in the Desktop/Screensaver preference pane. I took screengrabs of each machine, the first is the imac (alu 2.4) with the ATI HD2600, the second is the Mac Pro with the 7300gt. Anyone know what gives with this?

I just watched Tekzilla this week and saw how they posted hacks/fixes for people having their computer connected to HDTV. I know how to fix this in Windows but not sure how I can fix this in Apple. Hope someone has a similar fix. I currently have a Sharp 26in 1080i.

My Mac Pro 1,1 (two dual-core 3Ghz) has begun to have a blue screen flick on intermittently for a second or two. Sometimes the blue screen may not happen for over an hour and then it may happen a few times in a few minutes. I did a Safe Boot and reset the pram but there was no change. I was going to run Apple Hardware Test but after some Google searching it seems that Hardware Test probably won't spot the problem if it is the 7300GT video card I have in the machine - which is what I suspect is the problem. Based on doing a search of this forum and a Google search, it seems like the cheapest replacement I can get for the 7300GT is the ATI Radeon HD2600XT. (I don't do anything that needs a higher "power" video card.) Does anyone know if either one or both of these cards will work in my Mac Pro: [URL:...] If not, what cheap video card might you recommend for my Mac Pro 1,1 and where might be a good place to obtain it?

I am going to college this year to study Graphic Design and i am looking to purchase a MBP 15". I have read a couple of other threads which cover similar questions however i am not truly satisfied with the answers i have read.
My MBP will have to run the following programs on a regular basis: Photoshop, Bridge, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash. It will also have to run basic tasks such as word processing, internet surfing and email. Finally i would also like to install parallels and XP on the machine just in case an work or applications need to be run on windows. Obviously all of these applications will not be running simultaneously however there is a strong chance 2 or 3 maybe running at the same time. My Imac deals with this without problems, will the MBP be the same?

I just bought a geforce gtx 285 for mac, I got it however I dont manage to get it to work under lion, here is what I did:
1. I did a clean install of Lion, installed the drivers of the card from nvidia page (right drivers) however then after I change the card and I turn on the computer, the computer gets frozen after 2 minutes, with the scrolling whell also frozen.
2. I did an installation of Snow Leopard, got the card to work, installed, I then upgraded to Lion however I got the same result.
I dont know if I got the right card or is a pc gtx 285 "made" to work on a mac. The card is a GTX 285 BFG edition. It does not say "MAC EDITION" however it worked on snow leopard.
Info:
Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.4), Mac pro early 2008

Acoording to this site the Top Spec old iMac's had GeForce 8800 The new ones have a GT 130. I am struggling to find any information on the GT 130's and i *think* the Nvidia site says the GT 130 have much lower specification than the 8800 GS. So how do they compare? Surely, the GT 130 is a lot better, right?

I have a 2008 iMac with the above Graphic card installed from new by Apple along with 4Gb Ram.
All was fine. Now it chimes on boot up but remains at a black screen, I have read that these Graphic cards fail.
They are listed on E Bay about £200 from Hong Kong, Is there a Current compatible card that can be fitted, that is cheaper?

iPod touch

I have ordered a new Mac Pro which will arrive tomorrow. It will have the standard "ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB (Two dual-link DVI)" video card.
Thinking it would be a good thing to do, I also ordered from Amazon this video card:
"EVGA 01G-P3-N983-AR e-GeForce 9800 GT Akimbo Edition 1GB DDR3 PCI-E 2.0 Dual Slot with Upgraded Cooling Graphics Card"
Will the EVGA card work in the MacPro?

I am fairly new to macs and I am having a problem, my Mac Pro keeps restarting. I had a quadro FX 4800 video card on it, but it apperently was useless for gaming ( had problems with all the games i tried), so i swapped it for a NVIDIA GeForce GT 120. I was instructed that once the card was put in i would just have to start up the Mac and download the drivers. But every time i try to start up it just keeps teling me over and over the mac has to restart. Is there some way to fix this? Would having the Mac dual booted with Windows vista ultimate be a contributing fact to this problem, as that starts up but the display is weird and the graphics card doesnt seem to be registered on the system.

I don't play games. Would this card give a noticeable speed improvement vs the slow stock Geforce GT 120?
Apple claims this card is 5 times faster.
I use Photoshop and do a lot of video-editing.

I'm trying to install a Geforce 8800GTS but when I start my Mac Pro nothing happens, my display doesn't start and I can't select Windows in the Bootcamp. Anyway I tried starting Windows directly too and the same problem, my screen doesn't start. But if the DVI is connected in the ATI 2600XT and I enter in Windows I can see the 2 cards in the device manager, but my 8800GTS is marked with an yellow icon, saying that the drivers are not installed, but really are installed...

I am using a G5 Quad processor with a GeForce 6600 graphics card. I am working on a project in Second Life [URL] and have been advised that I need to update the driver on my graphics card to solve some problems encountered in Second Life. There does not seem to be an update for this card for Macs. I have asked Apple for help, but they have told me my serial number does not exist even though it is registered and I have had technical help from them in the past. Second Life say they do not support this graphics card!

I'm going to be ordering my new iMac within the next couple days but need a little advice first.
Obviously, the 4850 is more powerful, but if these two cards had the exact same specs, would ATI or nVidia be the better choice?
Which company is Apple leaning towards, which company produces better Mac drivers, how will OpenCL play into this, etc.

So I bought my macbook pro about a year ago, and ever since I have never update my graphic/video card. I need to update it because I am trying to play this game (Left4Dead) and It says that I should update it and I have tried playing the game without updating but when I get to the Main Menu it is blank. So I went to nvidia's website and I could not find an update for GeForce 8600M GT for mac.
